I really want this on PC even though I have a PS4 and it's hooked up to the HDMI port of my monitor, just cannae be arsed turning it on just for one game when the PC is already on.

Because arcade games were my main focus when building the list. I'd have to research and look up more about console exclusives and for ports, I need to see which ones are actually worth playing or not (besides Turtles in Time since I already know I prefer the SNES version over the arcade version).

I mean something like the Streets of Rage trilogy is basically essential in any Beat'em Up list. And then you don't want to miss out on Guardian Heroes.

Too bad bosses are shit in this game.
First one is okay starter. Second is okay too I guess, save for trash he summons which should be breakable without explosions throwing you off. Third, fourth and fifth are all shit.
Why I can juggle and properly combo a fucking mature yakuza woman, but frail shrimp that only ever lifted stacks of needles falls on floor like a pile of bricks and won't even move around from all pounding I give her?
Why is gigantic burly guy able to suddenly spin in any direction he wants, often in reverse to where his animations suggest he tried to launch himself? And why he's build so I basically have to use three attacks to cheese him because he blocks so fucking often?
Why is guitar hero segments a thing in fifth fight? Why don't they happen on full-sized arena, not on quarter of screen, bringing wonky hitboxes and perspective together for a show of constant fuckups whenever you try to jump over? And why I can't juggle/combo her either?
But then actual fighter comes out, and she flies around like a sack of shit, and dies near instantly despite being final non-secret boss?

Gonna go for secret soon, but I fear it's going to be fucked in the ass in some way too. Seeing those two are getting this treatment on nightly basis.

Is there something you have to do to make it run? I get in, there's no way to move or break out, and after a few seconds the door icon reappears and it takes me back to the start of the construction site

There's, like, a door. Opened. You take elevator, it brings you up, and in that elevator room you start in, there's a door, on the wall that is further from you. I'm not sure if there is something special to make it work or something, but I'm pretty sure there isn't. This game is built in such way that fetch quest, if there is one, opens up area right before boss, and for one on the roof, the construction site is that location.
tl;dr hold up and feel around the wall to left and right

I've been playing river city: rival showdown recently. I've just beaten Taira at the cafe. The game has surpassed my expectations so far. Throws are very satisfying.

I wish River City series was fun to begin with. All the ''rpg'' stuff throws me away off the game. I just want to beat the shit out of all the enemies and the boss and go to the next stage.

unfortunately the game is JP only, so navigating thru the menus is a bit of a chore, but still, its a nice game to waste the time or to play with friends.
