Its not that he is a foreigner that is good enough to be called a master, its that he is 1 of only 5 masters, if i recall correctly, and the other 4 are elderly. Though on the subject of being a foreigner if I recall correctly he has lived in japan for years and in that time trained under those few remaining masters. The hullabaloo is literally just ignorant self important people looking for something to be conspicuously angry about in order to fuel their self worth.
