The only reason this is news is because a bunch of people made noise on twitter. These social media whores even go out of their way to split hairs looking for something to be outraged about when a jap is speaking with clearly broken English.
I think everyone knew what Kojima meant, but it's in the programming of a twitter-infested brain to pick on seemingly innocuous statements in an attempt to create amusing controversies. Particularly Jason Schreier, you can just feel he was frothing at the mouth to start shit and immediately respond aggressively to anyone who would dare argue against him.

It's one thing to be this pathetic on a site like Yea Forums (hell, some of the reactions are for the "lulz" and not even genuine). But on social media you can publicly act like an asshole with a verified checkmark and get virtual pats on the back from thousands of bitter losers who think just like you.

I see these things happen constantly now, and even as someone who has no social media accounts besides Youtube, it somehow became impossible to ignore it.
