I played the betas, thought it was going to be fun like TF2, but shortly after launch realized I wasn't having much fun with it and played it less and less.
I think the launch of competitive was when I gave up, and the last time I played was around the time that african robot came out and I just messed around with that character in the training mode and closed it again.

The MOBA aspects of the game, and the fact that its less about player skill and more about team composition because the way blizzard balances shit is kinda retarded.

Honestly after playing it again, the state of the game isn't really that bad at the moment. I just wish they reverted some of the anti-fun changes to some of the unlocks, optimized the levels, added official highlander which includes all the current maps in the pool, and more community maps.

TF2 died for me when my favorite community server couldn't upkeep players anymore, and died. Tight-knit servers with things like custom maps, all talk, and hands-off moderation are so rare nowadays. The value of PC gaming is continually diminished when everything is just matchmaking, and quick play with a community lead by youtubers and twitch streamers.

I quit TF2 at the time Casual Mode and Competitive Mode are added. Can someone tell me what the hell is the reason to play casually instead of joining a community server? Every single player is absolutely terrible in casual mode. Are the level-ups doing anything?
By the way, I am level 30 in casual and have seen little to no increase of skill in matchmaking.

The game is balanced around the 9 players as all 9 mercenaries working in unison.
6’s is balanced around 6 players working in unison against 6 other players. The 6’s mode thus is inherently operating in a meta outside of TF2’s intended mechanisms by omitting or banning certain items that break the in-vitro meta of 6’s when they are operational in highlander. Thus the managers of 6’s league tailor the overall game to meet their criteria even when it effects non competitive gameplay by complaining.
By the balancing of DPS some classes are operationally outmoded and put to rest until they are needed ie disciplinary action and heavy rushing to mid.
TL;DR 6’s are an unbalanced microcosm of TF2 operating in TF2’s 9/highlander mode only because the players or 6s are used to playing in 6s.

While the notion of "fun" is completely subjective, it'd be quite silly to think a community of thousands would revolve around a gamemode that isn't fun. Often times, you'll find that competitive players are just casual players who already went through thousands of hours of casual play and that want something different.
As you grow up, you'll often (not always) find out that things such as challenge, improvement, strategy and team work are more fun than victories decided at random, chaos, or playing against people that have a hundredth of your experience.

First off, let me say that the reason an item/class might be banned from competitive is because it's either outright broken, or because it renders the game prone to stalemates and general predictable slowness. Competitive matches already suffer from being quite indistinguishable form one another for a newcomer, amplifying that is a terrible idea.
Second, I'd like to say that it's been shown time and time again that the great majority of competitive players would prefer if the format could have as many weapons and classes as possible, but as I said earlier, bans are here to prevent the game from being boring.

That's the entire reason bonk was nerfed in the first place. Scouts would use it to slip past the enemy team for free, forcing them to peel back because if they just send one scout then there's a 50% chance their scout will lose and they'll get back capped. If they send two, then they're at a disadvantage against the enemy team and will lose the mid fight.

Remove Medic. Medic is dumb. Medic is overpowered at all levels of play. As soon as the enemy team has a medic, you need a medic, too, or else you're fucked. The winning team, 99% of the time, is the team with more medics. No other class has that effect, or at least nowhere near it. The problem with Medic is two-fold.

1.) It's too strong. Valve knew the kind of low IQ rednecks that play first-person shooters would never dream of playing a class that just supports people, which means low-level games would suffer from a lack of medics, so Valve intentionally made them so strong you'd be stupid not to play it. That kind of game design is terrible and now everyone's girlfriend or limp-wristed life partner can be the person winning the game for their team just by clicking on their boyfriend's ass and following them. Which brings me to

2.) It's "press a button for teamwork." Any two classes can work together, covering each other's weaknesses or setting each other up for kills, but the Medic does it by literally pressing a single button and following someone while browsing pornhub. Teamwork is a powerful element of any multiplayer game, but for most pubbies all they can do is hope the randos in their team work together. Not so if you go Medic. You just automatically work with your team and give them an advantage the enemies can't compete with without serious effort, something you're not going to get in a pub.

Often the response to this is, "lol just go Medic!" But that's precisely the problem. "I'm white trash so I find healing boring" does not justify it being overpowered. If you ever look at your team and think, "Oh thank God, we have an X," or, "What the fuck, somebody go X," that's a BAD thing. This is like game design 101. If something is so strong it's integral to the game, then it either shouldn't exist or it should be something automatic that everyone gets.

The airblast is the most fun part of Pyro, so I don't use it. Pushing people off of anything, popping melee people into the air, pushing spies away from their targets, reflects, pushing people up and meat shotting them.

That's why I don't use it.

a medic on both sides ensures longer ttk which means the game is less likely to quickly come back and forth, also that the more skilled player comes on top if he more regularly hits his shots
