It's not possible to make a good HxH fighting game due to the strategies employed in battle being unreplicatabe in a game setting.
If you were to try it would have to be something akin to Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm's story mode that just
follows the plot, has a ton of internal dialogue and QTE with minimal amount of straight up brawls, considering most fights in
the series end in a quick deciding blow after a characters plan has come to fruition.

Can't be done, at least not a good one. Nen is too flexible to code, it falls into the "RPG" problem where the number of courses of action the dev can imagine is minuscule compared to what every possible player wants to do.

Like sure you could do some basic beat-em-up that's just rock-paper-scissors Gon and electric Killua fighting a buncha guys but that's so generic when half the appeal of the series is the really weird fights.

This guy's idea to make Greed Island is probably the best idea in the thread, both because Greed Island is more easily codified and also because a deck-building type game might actually be a better fit for all the powers and types of powers and subdivisions of Nen you can have.

Ok, I literally can’t stress enough how much the anime Hunter X Hunter, released 2011, based off the manga Hunter X Hunter, sucks so frickin much. In the first first arc where Gon, the main character, takes the Hunter exam, they steal so much from naruto. Like having to find 3 buttons similar to the 3 scrolls in naruto chunin exams. How the characters are being chased by Hisoka similar in a way to Orochimaru infiltrating the exam. And also Killua has electric powers just like Sasuke and is almost an opposite to Gon like Naruto is to Sasuke. Speaking of Sasuke, Kurapika had his clan murdered and has red eyes that personify him just like sasuke. This anime is just a big rip from others and I can’t respect that. I hate Hunter X Hunter and if you want to watch a good anime watch Naruto because it’s much better.

I'm not gonna overrate it but I got into it at 24 and it lingers a lot more than I thought it would. If I read a few pages of the manga I'll start to read it again. Even the '99 anime will hook me in for four episodes on average. It's a meme that it's a highly intellectual series but there is a extra layer of depth in some areas. It's definitely unique in its own right. But only you can determine if you like it or not.

You play as a custom made child with a Ben type determined by a personality quiz that joins the group at the hunter exams, and stay with Gon and Killua all the way until the end of the election arc. Have a lot of non canon encounters that serve as awesome fanservice, like fighting Chollo and Hisoka, or even both of them as a pair. Stuff like that goes a long ways.

TTGL is a phenomenally written shounen that deserves way more praise than it gets. I also wish more stories took inspiration from it. Not just its characters, but its cohesive and tight structure and narrative as well.

Themes and setting can change, but the foundational blocks are so SO good. We had a thread just a few hours ago, about how much of a shitshow MHA is, and I genuinely believe TTGL would have been perfect inspiration for the sorts of themes that story is trying to convey. A society of superhuman people with an underdog character trying to take the top spot. TTGL is an inspiring underdog story, one of the best in fact, MHA is TRYING to be an underdog story, or was at least, but now it’s lost total focus. Story would have been so much more interesting if it wrote around the concept of “anyone can be a hero” with a Simon-like willpower and manlyness, Shikamaru tier intellect Deku.

It's a great end to the arc. The conflict is not ending the usual way through protagonists powering up and besting the antagonists physically, but instead the ants lost to a cheap bomb invented by some unnamed scientist, proving human superiority. As Netero said Meruem was ultimately just an ant. The war ended with the explosion and all that was left was for the ants to succumb to the poison and inevitably die.

Like, imagine how much better MHA would have been if he was quirkless and a motivated badass. Not only does it make more SENSE for a kid who idolized All Might to have much more will-power than Deku, but you open the door for so many much richer character interactions if you leave him quirkless. It was a massive missed opportunity that’s a detriment to the whole story. The worst part about MHA is Deku, and the only redeeming quality was All Might, who’s now been written out and turned into a joke character.

Imagine how much more powerful it would have been if the start of the story was All Might rejecting Deku’s dreams, and Deku saying “fuck it, Imo gonna prove him wrong” with the first part being about Deku growing on his own, and working to gain All Might’s approval/recognition, eventually gaining it, and earning him as a mentor. Being trained by a competent All Might, rather than the half stupid one we have, and then All Might eventually dying, passing onto Deku not his power, but his philosophy, which motivated him even further.

What we got is garbage compared to what could have been.

This is further retarded by the fact that we have just been introduced to a convenient group of cripples who somehow reached the top of the battle tower thing without EVER hearing about this nonsense despite them clearly dedicating their life to fighting in this establishment and, I repeat, the fights where people perform what is for all intents and purposes to them, magic, in that very same establishment being TELEVISED and PUBLICALLY ATTENDED.

Nen isn't really super secret, like it isn't classified or anything. The best analogy I've seen was comparing it to some special martial art. There probably just isn't a lot of ready information so people can understand Nen, or maybe the amount of nen users is the world is scarce. The audience probably thinks it's sometime of magic.
Now Killua probably never saw dragon dive itself, but he probably saw his grandpa do some kind of strange technique that mysteriously left craters. Killua probably put two and two together and guessed that's dragon dive, he just never actually saw the energy.

I'm not trying to act like Hunter x Hunter is super deep, because it's not, but that guy's complaints are literally "it doesn't have muh epic fight at the end of an arc, so I don't like it." or "it subverted my expectations, so I don't like it." Alluka is a flaw, but that's really it as far as what he said. The rest of those things are completely fine.

Subverting common tropes like arcs ending in big fights doesn't automatically make the writing good, you mook. I don't hate it because it doesn't conform to battle shounen regularity, I hate it because it doesn't break from that regularity in any clever or remotely well written way. Netero's bomb, for example, was an enormous croc of shit that came out of precisely nowhere, but fans loved it to bits because it's "symbolic!" and "subversive!". Killing off bad guys with no climax or even off screen is pretty ballsy for a show that IS a battle shounen, so forgive me for wanting the narrative to support those moments with some fucking decent writing.

It's a GBA-style 2D platformer, not unlike Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure. It goes up to the Chimera Ants.

Only Gon and Kilua are playable. Hisoka, Kurapika and Biscuit are available in a complementary multiplayer versus mode.

You'd play as your own character and because of how impossible it would be to create custom hatsus you'd have an ability copying ability to customize different combos of hatsus. It’d take around 7-8 to beat, but to make up for its short length it’d be like $30-40, it’d release on all consoles and would have some fun non-story gamemodes. Multiplayer would also be included (up to 4 players) and yes you could fuck each other over (ala Castle Crashers).

Not necessarily 'dishonorable', but a dramatic power up transformation for the sake of survival and revenge wasn't caused by him strengthening his morals or resolve, but by him sinking into such despair that he thoughtlessly sacrifices everything just so he can kill Pitou, and would've died had Killua not saved him, and even then it cost him his use of nen, and likely a good chunk of his life span.

This would've been an instance of him reaffirming the strength of his resolve to be able to strategize a method of fighting Pitou, but that's not what happens. He essentially commits to a kamikaze attack simply because he was too upset to think straight.
