After his recent games I really started appreciating SciADV Series.
Steins;Gate is a great entry point. (Sequels is mediocre though)
Chaos Head Noah|Chaos Child also very good.

It feels like a lot of modern games feel like they have to make all their LGBT characters flawless to avoid seeming trans/homophobic, which really just gives trans/homophobes an excuse to go "see? gay characters suck and only sjws want them". Pewter is motivated by his love for Renju, so is sexuality is integral, yet he doesn't seem defined by being gay.

Mama felt like a ticking time bomb of yikes but the rest of the game and Uchikoshi's work made me want to interpret her charitably (ie, Date said "where's the lady?" not because he thinks Mama isn't a real woman, but because she's not traditionally proper and she makes sex jokes and stuff)

You have to 'not trust' her way earlier in the Somnium. Just don't craft the disco ball and the monument thingy, but the other stuff.

Finished the game, one thing doesn't make sense to me. So in the timelines where you save Iris and Ota from the Polar Bear (Ota and Mizuki's routes), wouldn't that be So's mind in Iris's body through the rest of those routes? Why doesn't Iris act any different in the Ota and Mizuki endings? Or is there some bullshit reason I'm missing for why Saito wasn't in Iris's body in that timeline and didn't need to swap with So in the polar bear?

In game Saito states that he can't derive pleasure from murder in any body but his own. He just didn't think about the consequences of swapping before he did it.

I am throwing this out there- after watching this shit through streams of friends, something occurred to me.

Finish the game spoilers ahead:
Ota route: you discover So Sejima's body Day 5 at 2:21 PM. In Mizuki's route you get knocked out and are out of commission until ~10am (free time until 4 pm). In this route, however, Date does NOT discover So's body. In fact, he hasn't even been killed at all. And from what we can tell, he didn't get his leg injured in Mizuki's route, which I think is the ONLY reason Saito didn't have the chance to kill Boss. We talk about how Somnium stuff doesn't effect the real world...but didn't it do exactly that in this case?

He was interested by this cutting edge technology and wanted to try it himself. Hell, that could even help him stay incognito if he fuck up up during his murders and get the police on his back. He just didn't expect Falco to fuck off before he could swap back.

Pewter is no more a traitor than anyone else in the game.
His crime of being manipulated by someone else in his lover's body is pretty small compared to serial murderer (Date/Falco), the person covering up said serial murder and investigation (Boss), the criminal politician responsible for multiple murders and the explosion of a power plant (So Sejima), Shoko running a criminal insurance fraud enterprise, Renju employing the Yakuza to keep the death of his best friend on the down-low and a literal fucking psychopath who only gets enjoyment from murder.

The only real innocent people in the entire game is Iris, Mizuki, Mayumi, Mama, Hitomi and perhaps ironically the actual Yakuza you encounter. In terms of morality, Pewter doesn't even come close to the rest of the main cast in terms of being a criminal.

Had fun with this game. Anyone reccomend other similar games with wholesome cast? Bonus if contains faggotry.

That part has the Date talking the the CSI then running out of the warehouse before looking around to check Iris's house. Aiba probably didn't notice because she wasn't given the time to investigate.

I don't like the inconsistent way Aiba was written. Is she really a logical, effective AI or did Pewter intentionally make her an emphatic, more human-like personality?
The latter is what you would expect if we consider Aiba a "normal" partner who just didn't bother to start a scan for living and non-living organisms during Mayumi's body's first disappearance. That's great, she's fallible, which makes her a unique character instead of generic AI.
But the former is also displayed when, for example, she independently activates heat vision to see that someone was just in the yakuza office, or when she's "already called several times, no answer" during certain points. These are things an advanced AI is expected to do; and in the above spoiler an immediate scan of the area should have already been done before Date could finish the conversation.

Because it makes the character inconsistent at the base, meaning she's as dumb or intelligent as the plot needs her to be, which ultimately devalues her.

I could see a sequel with an adult Mizuki becoming a member of ABIS and following in the steps of Dates though. Good opportunity to use her super strength as an actual plot point to solve ~secret shifter society~ mysteries.
