The new tune doesn't sound muddled at all. Matter of fact, that guitar sample for the original has such a strange tone in the lower registers that IT gets muddled when it's put against the bassline and higher instruments. It especially becomes apparent when the organ line steps back and goes a bit quiet. This orchestral version might not have the same charm as the original, but it is technically very strong and it delivers in literally every aspect that you're bitching about to pretend to be an expert. There's a lot to complain about and you somehow managed to talk about the few things it gets right.

You wanna know which version "muddles" the FUCK out of that? The original, with that weak ass drum set. The melodies are clean and recognizable, very much so. I liked what we heard of the normal battle theme, during the Aps fight, though the intro is a bit weak.
Not a fan of the Guard Scorpion version of the boss battle music though.

I don't mind them doing orchestrations for the new OST, especially not for something like the battle theme, which already had a large orchestral base.
But I do wish more "remakes" and stuff like that would try to remake the music more in the style of the original, and keep more of the same type of instruments that the original was going for.
I think it's why KH 1 and 2's remake OSTs are better than the originals. They basically just un-MIDI-fied them.

Take the lead synthy melody from 0:12-0:36. Its instrumentation sounds all but natural and very abrupt, it's meant to make you feel like something's off. At the same time, the synth heightens the technological aspect, thus bringing us closer to something like an industry rather than other stuff. From 0:49 you get synth stuff again, and I would argue similarly. Stark contrast to something like the world map/main theme.
Regardless of my point, it's beyond arguing that it sounds and feels different, in whichever direction you see it. So why change it so drastically?

Nature is one thing but XV has some of the most boring look for an RPG to ever come out. I don't want a Final Fantasy game set in fucking Texas. Shit on 13 all you want at least it was visually striking and unique, Gran Pulse was all about nature in contrast to sci-fi you see throughout most of the game on Cocoon, and it still looked fresh. XV just simply has nothing to look at and the one actually architecturally interesting city in the game, Tenebrae, isn't even explorable! Fuck XV and fuck its gay ass fans.

I would say the emphasis on the horns is much more passionate, which makes it better. Plus the way they rearrange tracks when exciting things happen or you get to the last leg of the battle means every battle will at least feel like one full of hotblood. They worked to make battle feel engaging from start to finish.
