First it's either bugfix mods or vanilla, if you can mod in the middle of a save I'll start to add on some QOL stuff, extra stuff that is at least somewhat lore friendly, adds new challenges, items, quests, etc. This keeps iterating the longer/more runs.

Modding heavily implies that a game needs mods for the game to be good. however modding is good if it involves reverting a game to how it used to be, Like the Dreamcast Conversion mod for Sonic Adventure or the PS2 shaders for the 3D Trilogy of GTA
