Yeah, it might be worth learning a bit of blender in order to save yourself the headache. I should have normal Merc's model on the mega, so you could just download blender and then use that model. When it comes to loader and huntress, I feel like it might be worth it to learn how to use AssetStudio. Just load up the resources.assets file and you should be able to rip and edit things as you please. Getting meshes into the game is going to be a bit harder, though.

I've already got the meshes ripped as .obj files, and I've made some amateur color palette edits for loader and artificer in gimp, but I noticed mercenary and huntress use more complicated texture applications and I would like to be able to edit more efficiently.

Anyone else really dislike the difficulty-time scaling in ror2? It was an incredibly fundamental feature in risk of rain that you were always aware of the time and its impact on the game, and measuring how much time you realistically have to loot before it starts becoming scary. In ror2 time has less of an impact becuase the teleporter just moves the difficulty up a flat amount when you go to the next level. I feel like that(and also perhaps the locking of chests during the teleporter event) completely eradicates the idea of weighing your options and how much time it takes to get the money you need. It feels less like you're supposed to think about your pacing and when to leave, and more like you're supposed to very quickly find everything and leave. But it doesn't really make that feel rewarding. You feel the negative impacts of going too slow, sure, but you never feel the positive impacts of going really fast, like you could in risk of rain where you reach the 2nd level still on the 1st difficulty, or even the 3rd level on the 2nd difficulty. It was a really cool rewarding feeling that I find is absent in the 2nd game. Sorry for ranting/blogging.

mercenary and huntress both use proper texture maps. They're UV'd so that the object actually makes sense on the texture. It might take some getting used to, but you'll find that adding specific details on them is easier to do. Especially in blender.Just open blender, load the mesh, apply a material, apply the texture to that material, and then edit in either 2d or 3d in blender. And remember to save that image so you can edit it in Gimp or Krita later if you want better detailing.

Yeah, the teleporters scaling the difficulty is fucked. Feels like there's never really a reason not to go around and grab every item. I liked the RoR1 meta of rushing the teleporter as quickly as possible

I feel this. 2 just feels really fucking demanding, and I think a lot of it has to do with the pacing (director currently doesn't spawn shit early on) and the way enemies behave/attack. The game's a lot harder which is nice, but it feels less free and loose in a lot of ways as a result of how the difficulty is cranked up. Even when I'm rushing on monsoon it never really feels like I'm gaining any sort of lead because the hill is THAT fucking steep.

The only time I ever feel "efficient" is when I clean out a level's chests with exactly zero gold left in my pocket, the perfect sweet spot between fast and slow. People argue about fast or slow but now its balanced so that both are viable if you plan your chest route. Its probably more fair now, than just rewarding speed over completionism. You can approach it however you want as long as you have a plan and good scouting/memory

It's more fair in that it isn't as punishing sometimes, but not being as rewarding is a huge cost- In ror I was never terrified of getting to a level underequipped, I was more terrified of getting to it too late. I feel like the teleporter boosting difficulty should be removed, and replaced with a more time based thing, and perhaps they should adjust the items to be more numerous across stages but more expensive, so that you do have to sincerely weigh the options of spending more and less time on a stage? it's difficult to say how it would really work out though.

The positive effects of going fast are that you're less screwed over by bad RNG(if you spend time farming for a stun bomb and a chronobauble you're fucking yourself over), and that you get to stage 4+ faster. So yes it may be more difficult for you at minute 15 or whatever than the person going slow, but it's going to be more difficult for him when he reaches stage 5. The main advantage is that it's post loop that you really start stacking up items quickly, so by getting there faster despite having a slower initial power gain you start accelerating past the person who's going slow.

This. The fact that they would make rainstorm and monsoon harder shows that they aren't pandering to drizzlets like others assume. Not only did they make monsoon harder despite it being far too hard for the average player, but they added in unlockable skins that can only be gotten in monsoon. Nah, I think he just doesn't really care about triggering people with design changes if he thinks it will improve the game. He definitely is willing to lightly tease the playerbase though with things like "until then just don't get hit :^)".
I seem to remember him posting in one of these threads early in the year in relation to people starting to experiment with mods and it seeming legit, but I don't remember for sure. I would be a bit surprised if he doesn't check at least occasionally, but he's got a real company funding him now, so it's not like he can openly talk about his association with the nazi incel hackers known as 'Yea Forums'.

But 3D printers of what you want or need are not 100% guaranteed, like user mentioned bad RNG. If you take too long you're fucked anyway. I think the problem is some items are a bit too situational compare to 1'a fair share of heal and defensive items. Also there's the fact on how 2's portal charging work especially how looping ends up as.

This. While the turtle will have more items by stage 5 than the hare had when he hit stage 5, the hare will be at stage 7 with more items by the time the turtle reaches stage 5. More items you have = closer regression to the mean = less RNG.
I do think there are advantages to both, and going slow will make it easier to obliterate, but going fast is setting yourself up for a higher chance of getting a god run.

You can edit it in blender. Look at the Painting options, depending on if you're in 3d or 2d. It would be in the same dropdown menu as Object and Edit mode.

What more is there to this vulture lore? Is there anything I'm missing or seems to be misinterpreted? Are the tiny ball enemies it summons piloted by vultures? Are they equipped with mining lasers? Are the units autonimous? The 'mother unit' needs a pilot, but the worship unit seems to refer to itself as not piloted but its own being.

Looks like the Solus Unit attacked the vultures in order to mine and got destroyed by the anomaly(which could be the player, or could be vultures). It also seems that it may have fallen for a trap? It detects iron, but then can't find any. Unless the iron it detected was the ALLOY vultures themselves. It being a trap also fits with the name of the map.

But the worship unit chose to establish communication with them instead of attacking and the vultures started to worship it as a result. I think the phrenic link is just the worship unit being contacted by its own kind and asked to come home. I believe both large ships are 'mother units' that is motherships for the smaller pods. Whether the LINK TO MOTHER UNIT LOST is the Solus unit losing connection to the Worship unit is hard to say.

Also, keep in mind that the Elite Equipment that turns you into a Malachite Elite is called N'kuhana's Retort. Also that Vultures are a symbol of life through death, and the Alloy Vultures have a green/black coloration, like the Malachites.

Artificer: Slow-ish and squishy but massive damage potential, never wanting for AoE, alt skill gives really fun "mobility" option but she can often have trouble with wisp swarms
Mercenary: Stonecold motherfucker who flies around chopping up everything with a sword, superfast + iframes but can often have trouble against bulkier air targets like greater wisps and bronzong from pokemon
REX: Bulky lifedrain tank/AoE character, biggest downside is difficulty of knowing when to play defensive and when to go nuclear, fun but incredibly quirky(in a good and bad way)
Loader: fastest motherfucker in the game, haven't played enough to know too much about weaknesses and strengths but seems very strong against hordes, bosses and fliers alike

Spent 19 stages trying to get the Chunked achievement until I realized I needed to just move very far away from the teleporter after activating it so I could Thor sweep all the bosses spawning at once. Gestures and a Capacitor are just really stupid when you get it going. At some point I stopped bothering to use Artificer's natural skills at all and simply looked in the general direction of enemies to kill them. My lightning strikes were at 2 second cooldown by this point. Thanks, lunar crutches.

Also, Arti is really fucking hard to stop when you have a whole bunch of Wax Quails and no Feathers.

he's really good if you grab a bunch of mishmash proc items and get a few attack speed buffs, his early game and mid game has been rounded out by his new skills. Still needs heresy to function though because hopoo won't give him multiple dashes and/or i frames.

No need to with new abilities. Commando gets a new toy, and you can still give weapons that are different to potential new characters. Enforcer could get elemental shotguns with different status effets and ammo, Bandit could get the same but with differtn effect, damages and ammo types maybe contingent on how you relod his gun. Fuck, I'm already looking forward to the next update.

Use her alternate R if you have it. Always be moving and jumping. Try to save your M2 until either there's a group of like 3-4+small things, or one medium thing+1 small thing, or for a boss until it's got like 3+things around it. Always throw her M2 at the largest target.
Aside from that there's really not much to say about her. She's pretty self explanatory play wise. Don't fall for the "Only get backup mags and crowbars" meme. Getting attack speed will quickly make her M1 really powerful. Not that M2 focused builds won't destroy with some will-o-wisps. Get a shit ton of movement speed though. Like enough that if you were another character you'd regret having picked up the last 5 speed items. Become too fast to ever touch and let your auto aim handle the heavy lifting.

Thanks; my best runs were often ones where I was able to 3d print five or six hooves by the first or second stage. Except for my last one, but I found a hoopoo feather printer on stage 4. Still died because I couldn't do enough damage.

It was also pretty cool 2 hours in to be able to spray an overloading dunestrider for a third of its health over 2 seconds, then switch targets to the next one and watch as the first instantly melts once the stickies start blowing up. But yeah, the game's overall in a better spot now.

For now strides exist.

It's actually good when you are in the air with the new R ability. You can actually aim it and hit enemies with it. You can also use it on bosses to do some damage as it does 100% damage multiple times.

How to fix corpsebloom:

>20% max hp per sec (no stack)
>+25% damage dealt when below max hp (+10% damage per stack)

Now you trade instant healing in favor of very strong 20% regen, and it's encouraged for the player to not be at full hp (which is risky as one shot protection is gone)
You already have a big tradeoff, no reason for the items main purpose to get worse with each stack.

It's already an item that's only useful on rex (and only 1, more will kill you).
Now it's atleast useable on other characters, though you likely want to pair it up with a stealthkit. If you choose to not heal up (or simply can't) then you enjoy increased damage

>Engineer
With basic skills, is extremely synergistic with Bustling Fungus— the best candidate for healing builds because of this. Never Transcend (turrets are stronger if able to regen through damage; they can't avoid it to recharge shields except when the Engie specifically drops a Bubble Shield on them). Needs mobility items to stay alive (though B. Shield helps); synergizes with on-hits and attack speed pretty well because turrets.
>MUL-T
Highest base health, making him a great candidate for Transcendance. Railgun has infinite range, while Nailgun is great for general DPS and on-hits. Transport Mode (the dash) can't help you with vertical mobility, but it does good damage. Two equipment slots makes him the best character for Gesture of the Drowned builds.
>Mercenary
Has to be played carefully in the early game (melee), but becomes practically invincible once he gets cooldown resets/reductions because he's invincible while using two of his abilities. Can attack while sprinting. Fairly durable.
>Artificer
Great range and damage. Replace the flamethrower with her new Ion Surge for mobility. Scales well with cooldown reduction/resets; needs mobility items.
>Rex
The weakest character right now because his great damage potential and crowd control require him to commit suicide to use. Don't Transcend; better with attack speed than cooldown reduction.
>Loader
Haven't played much, yet, but she can often shield for more damage than bosses can deal if she can keep in punching range. Ride Dune Striders, Vagrants, Alloys/Soluses to keep punching them.

Use Ion Surge (the new R) to stay above enemies; all you need is a little movement speed to dodge while in midair (keep in mind that you can spring while hovering).
You're a fragile wizard. You need to stay mobile; just fling your shit when it's off cooldown and focus on staying alive.

Your basic attacks have damage over time, your right click has a stun, and the ice "wall" lets you finish off enemies if they drop below 30% health while frozen (except bosses). Trying to make the Alloy Worship Unit a viable character in spite of not being able to interact with chests/shrines. I wanted to use SkillSwapper to fill his empty M2 with the Artificer's M2, but didn't get anywhere with it. He's also got a problem with never regenerating health, which I fixed by manually appending the lightning Elite status.

Honestly just an item that rewards not healing up is pretty cool, since glass's disadvantage of half HP has been effectively been negated by people stacking the shit out of it, spamming one shot protection with healing + barriers and using crazy damage to delete the map.

MUL-T doesn't need to face tank much if you aren't trying to use the new buzzsaw. Just wait for the right moments to use the dash for damage; his other abilities can be used while using cover.

even when trying as hard as I can to use the R floaty move for damage I felt huge huge damage falloff later in the game, she simply doesn't have enough damaging moves and replacing her shift with a survivability move makes little sense to me since the new R essentially gives her god tier mobility

Too bad their range and pathfinding both suck. I want them to work, but they love to sit still, eating dick, instead of chasing things down and staying mobile to dodge attacks.

They need AI changes, badly. Simply making them aggressive and dodgy (just have them circle strafe targets, really) would be enough, but range would help a lot.

At the very least, you need to do the IP connection so that only you need to have the mod installed to use it, I'm not actually sure myself.

I'd rather have traded her shift for Ion Surge than the flamethrower, but Ion Surge makes her evasive enough to play regularly. If you really aren't getting enough damage from three damage attacks, you can use the surge itself for an extra quick spike, if you have the mobility to get out of the shitty situations you'll be putting yourself in.

She's in the best spot she's ever been in, with Surge.

Around 80% of the time I don't even make it out of the 1st loop, most of the time I die before Stage 4. I had like 2-3 runs where I managed to go past 2 loops, and I have 20 hours played. I'm playing on rainfall(?) mostly, used drizzle a couple of times to unlock characters, tried monsoon maybe once.

I had a run where after I just finished the fourth stage the next one spawned NOTHING but jellyfish, I waited around just to see if literally ANYTHING else would spawn and nothing but jellyfish so I started the teleporter and got the vagrent which is just a giant jellyfish

You don't because even with shrines of combat or mountain that's 3 coins per one person max if they're not shared globally, that means one person has to spend 1 just to get in the shop and then spend it on nothing when you get there because you're either out of coins, or you can't buy anything in the shop. Then if you manage to get to end game, you'll have a plethora of coins and won't need them because you made it to end game and probably have the items you need. Stupid idea.

Because you do increase the risk, this fucking game likes to spam one shots, so removing the protection is superflous when at any time you can get meatshot to death by forty enemies at once. the downside is you can't control when your equipment goes off, and if you get a shitty equip and then see drowned you risk having a problem if you don't get anymore or any batteries. I've picked up a drown while I had tincture and ahd to play around that till i could swap it out, similarly I've had crowdfunder and had no money till i could get it off and it almost ruined my run. It works when it does and it has downsides wether you like it or not. Changing it in your way would make you jsut an equipment spammer and nothign more, limiting your pool to mobility, crit, crit procs, and attack speed. Would make most attempts to utilize it pointless and absolutely cripple your endgame, nobody would take it ever again.

Have you played with the new update, yet? The old aggressive director is less common, now. This one likes to hold in its little Lemurian, Wisp, Beetle shits in order to take massive Elite, big enemy dumps more frequently than it used to. Stage on on Monsoon can be pretty slow.

I only play monsoon, sometimes you have to fight off point or run to regen. If you have to leave this just makes more enemies spawn and draws out the fight longer. Nobody wants that.

Ice wall now has physics. Enemies+projectiles are blocked (though baddies still path close enough to get frozen), and it launches anything it's placed under into the air, including Arty and allies.

Fireballs could use some sort of buff, but giving them proper scaling with attack speed just takes away what makes them unique.

Meta progression should always only be used for unlocking things, never for powering up your run because the game is either going to be balanced around not using them (making them overpowered) or balanced around using them (making them required).

Im consistently finding less items, less chests, spending more time per level, fight more/stronger enemies, and seemingly take more damage. There was code already to give monsoon and drizzle more health and armor, and the game was balanced around old regen with people complaining about healing items being worthless, so instead of doing the work to make healing items matter, he just nerfed healing across the board while retards who eat up "difficulty" think it's good.

I wouldn't have thought anything of it if the code didn't speak for itself, and he didn't respond like a smug cunt to people hating the new changes, but it's all too tongue in cheek.
