What does an ideal, medieval fantasy, open world RPG look like in the 2020s?

take's place in the 17 century

ray tracing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
vr capability!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
trannies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like the game to be released

this

Trying to have actual discussion on this shit hole of a board is a wasted effort, it's just going to be meme bullshit and faggy spam.

yes

only two dialogue options, yes and sarcastic yes

For fucks sake make the world smaller. I hate wandering through big padding fields of nothingness for ten minutes straight. I’m sick of fake open world shit, just make the game good and smaller.

Honestly its just too far away, I don't want to think about it right now, we'll have a much better idea of what TESVI will be like after Starfield releases.

>it's a city
>there are fifteen people living here

How much smaller could it fucking be?

>Larger cities
Skyrim's cities were pathetic
>Realistic bandit placement and camps
They were awfully placed and had bases in the most autistic of places and it didn't really make sense
>Less cave-dwelling
I loathed playing vanilla skyrim because of the amount of same-y caves you had to go through. A wide variety of areas to explore would be nice
>More weapon types
Flails for example would be nice, spears as well.
>Actual magic
Like previous TES games, basically
>Balanced crafting/smithing
The whole "drink a potion, enchant this, smith that, drink potion again etc etc" meme is shit and gave me aids

Aside from that, obviously I would prefer better combat with dodging as an option if you're playing a light melee build without a shield, for example. More immersive dialogue choices as well. Can't think of anything else off the top of my head at the moment.

they could make it fun, for starters.

I wish they didn't have to rely on a crippled game engine from another fucking era. Everything they do is compromised because the have to cater to the needs of the engine.

They should bring attributes back and give you 5 points per level to distribute

It's the only content pipeline most of their staff knows. A new engine might alleviate some technical problems, but I think the final product would actually be worse.

Worse still, it's also the infrastructure around which their modding community has built and studied for near two decades. Make a major change to it, and watch that community die, right as Bethesda is trying to monetize it.

I want it to take place in hammerfell and I want the entire culture and story presented about redguards to feel like its pandering to black people super hard, similar to cyberpunk 2077 with its 1000 iq elite Haitian hackers. This will make the /pol/ fags real mad.

I'd love for it to start in Hammerfell and end with a massive offensive and an elf genocide.

>Design By: "I'm the idea guy!"

make it like chivalry and redo that stupid spell system which is basically 5 spells but with three different colors

Much better combat and magic but I'm not gonna hold my breath

Sexier character design. Make western RPG great again!

They shouldn't turn it into porn, but they could benefit from maybe giving the series a slightly harder edge. As it is, it comes off like fantasy for Disney Channel.

And that may happen - Skyrim shipped with unused topless skins, so that's something that gets far enough along in discussion/development to ship, if not use. Maybe this time they'll look at Witcher or Divinity or even Game of Thrones, and decide that audience is there.

There's probably a Nord settlement there they occupied a part of Hammerfell before

>orc futa

Implementing a weapon system like Mordhau or KC:D would be the best thing VI could do.

While I don't think there will be much in the way of expansion in terms of restoring mechanics, I think we're likely at the tail end of the reduction and casualization of the series. Skyrim is main stream, and rocking the boat too much more is risky. If Bethesda is paying any sort of attention at all, they'll understand how thin the ice their standing on is and realize they need to build their reputation up again.
I think Starfield or whatever its called will be very telling. I do worry about the fate of mods, and microtransactions in the Bethesda games from now on. If anything will kill Elder Scrolls and Fallout for good - that'll be it.

I half expect them to do something that essentially requires mods to come from their server, which in turn allows them to police things, prevent lovers lab styled mods, start charging for most things, etc. It'll be the loss of what has been one of the most capable modding communities the PC ever produced.

underrated

rape

More crpgs elements; I want more expression and ability to roleplay, Playing a character in tes always just seemed like a passive experience where you basically have no sense of identity, you just play a floating head with very limited dialogue options but the only difference is what you are skilled in and what guilds you join.

Larger scope as well, I want more space between locations and more "epic" scenery. More organic elements as well, a world that moves changes is a lot more immersive than a world that is stagnant.

I have an idea my dudes. Have a gigantic procedurally generated continent. But a separate software program that lets players make dungeons. These dungeons are then tested by other players and voted on. The best ones become dungeons in the actual game. So a giant world with handcrafted dungeons all over it fucken everywhere.

A proper sequel to Daggerfall kinda.

I personally can't think of a single thing the folks at Bethesda could possibly do to improve upon the Skyrim formula, but I am very excited to see them expand upon it in their upcoming games, it will be a real treat to experience

>2020
More like 2023 at earliest. TES6 will be outdated trash by then.

>realistic
you and i both know there is no hope

>stealth mechnicanics apply when out of stealth mode; stealth mode just greatly enhances some of your abilities to stealth
standing in the dark in and out of stealth should have the same effect when you're not making sound and are unable to be seen; the same applies for standing in light unless you have camillion active or something else logical/magical
>tutorial section is optional and doesn't immediately force your character into the main quest. moreover, the main quest shouldn't be the core of the game - that's the world's job
morrowind had a perfect start - just enough flavor to comfort you; everything was practical and relevant to the world and game mechanics and it sets you loose in less than a minute
you can deliver the package if you want and when you do the npc orders you to learn about the world first
>bring spellmaking and auxiliary spell effects back
spellmaking doesn't need to work the same way, it could just be a path to unlock advanced spells - like spell alchemy finding new effects
i think would be rewarding to spell users and of course, there should be more than one path to spellmaking. just think of all the references to necromancers and rogue mages, it needs to be player content
>step away from assembly line content and add layers and replay value to quests and environments
i don't care if they have to cut the content in half, so long as they apply that potential content as a second or third layer to every other quest and thing to do in the world it would be amazing
>reputation and faction matters and options to earn different reputations and unique ones for your character
fable had a lot of this and so did fallout nv
>i hate to say it but, we need waifus, best boys, bros, etc
characters worth their salt
>step off compass markers and bring back descriptive journal entries and dialogue
tard mode optional plz

>ideal
best of tes at its core with the best of other rpgs supporting it

I'd like to see the series focus on creating more of a Westworld, less of a theme park, i.e. focus first on creating a realistic, interesting world, and THEN fit gameplay in. That means mines that are just mines, not dungeons. Forts that are intact, and manned, not dungeons. A dungeon not hiding around every corner. Quests that resolve in some other way than "go to dungeon".

Skyrim almost seems like it has an arcade design ethos. That's not what I'm after from a medieval open world RPG.

>design by democracy
Terrible idea. Do you want to have 600 Rick & Morty themed dungeons? Consumers have dreadful taste.

Workable ladders
Spears

I like skyrim, over 500 hours. I know it's a shit game, but I had fun. I really hope they make the next a bit less predictable than. Go in dungeon, trek through it, kill the boss, grab the macguffin and the large chest.

I have a totally unrealistic one: hire better fucking writers and get rid of the guy responsible for Skyrim and F4.

>Hire better writers
But TES is one of the most well written universe ever made. If your talking about main quest stories then yeah I could see what your talking about.

good point, i forgot about that because i got caught up in the arcade style
reminds me of the egg mines and stuff in morrowind

>But TES is one of the most well written universe ever made
Everything interesting was written fifteen years ago. They need new, better writers.

I just want to be able to cast with my left hand while holding a shield like in oblivion again
they really fucked my battlemage build

fuck, it took an elder scrolls thread on Yea Forums and a reference to rick and morty to make me realize that democracy is a failed system

maybe they are waiting for the year or two before the next gen consoles release to sell it to the old consoles first at bad fps, then to the new ones for decent fps - each one of them - one at a time - and then again for the remaster that would update the pc version and console versions, and again for vr, and again for the director's cut for the next twenty years

>But TES is one of the most well written universe ever made.
user, please tell me you're just baiting and don't actually believe this.

>I think Starfield or whatever its called will be very telling.
why wasn't fallout 4 and 76 telling enough?

beth doesn't want to make games for a games sake, all they want is a successful product and they certainly aren't interested in niche markets anymore so they'll stay far away from anything with a learning curve
they are going to make sure everyone plays even at the expense of what makes their game worth playing

>make the cities bigger
>boats
>carts
>armor layering
>better combat
>don't bitch out on the story for some gay shit
>better fucking companion interaction, New Vegas tier stuff please
>stop trying to appeal to fucking children, give us back nuitdy and gore you Puritan niggers

>less "O HELLO THEAR!11!!111! EETS A FIEN DAY WEETH YOO ARUND!"
>voice variety
And heres a fucking stretch, but name very NPC, especially bandits and make it possible to talk them down, turn themselves in, side with you etc

>like spell alchemy finding new effects
masterful idea
