That's the whole fucking point of the Aeris/Tifa dichotomy. Aeris is supposed to be the red herring. The character desperately wish to save and rescue, but is actually more of a trickster who proves throughout the first half of the game that she can take of herself. She's bit more on the witty side, with a penchant for dead pan sarcasm.
Tifa is seen as the big rowdy pugilist from the get go, but this is a smokescreen that lets the player dissipate through their playing of the game. Tifa is in fact the damsel, she's the one with the kind, gentle heart, torn by anguish over a VERY close childhood friend, and forlorn in her desire to one up the fairy tale "princess" seen in Aeris. That's what makes both of these characters work so fucking well when they're juxtaposed onto the conventional JRPG tropes.

Ok so i guess we should discuss gameplay.
So far from what ive seen, i really liked the gameplay and battles. It looks fun, it looks enjoyable, but the more i think about it, the more i think it has a big problem.
The thing is, you can only control one of the characters at the same time. Dodge and block are not gonna be available or controllable for other characters, and if they do its entirely an AI. If they do bosses or enemies that relies from you to use dodge and block, the rest of the party will be eaten alive, constantly needed healing because they cannot grasp the concept of blocking at the right time or dodging at the right time. That means they have to make enemies that will do damage regardless of you dodging or blocking, which will make dodging or blocking useless on your main character.
Sorry for not being able to express my ideas correctly, but basically what i try to say is: this action combat works when you play a single target, not when having a party, because it contradicts itself. They have to design the enemies so one character HAS to dodge or block (or at least use all his abilities) while the rest of the party doesnt care.
I dont know if you guys played kingdom hearts (personally i played KH1, havent played 2 or 3), and it uses the same system i think, or at least similar. You use one character, you can dodge, block and the rest will be managed by the AI, but this AI will just eat all damage. It was a long time but i dont remember if it was an issue this action mixed.
What do you guys think? should they do just enemies that forces you to block or dodge, regardless of the party? wouldn't that make the party just eat full damage?
