In the alpha the only penalty to dying was that all the enemies regenerated all their hp and getting sent to the nearest revive statue, the only change to this i know of is you have to now interact with the statue or whatever to be able to respawn at it.

Been a while since I played the alpha but I don't recall the systems being particularly deep. I do remember it being pretty challenging at times though because enemies and especially bosses could easily fuck your shit up if you got careless in a fight. Like I said in though. A game doesn't need to be complex to be fun. As games like Doom have shown, sometimes a simplistic approach to gameplay can be extremely enjoyable.

The strength of enemies increases the further out you travel. Loot drops don't really matter because if you're different classes there's no real incentive to fight over it.

It's action combat, you've gotta time rolls to dodge, manage stamina etc. Most classes have some ability that really effects how you play. With the ninja class your attacks are also dodges, and dodging builds up your special attack meter. There's alot of managing stuff like that. It's fun.

If there is a best class, we don't know yet because every class got a lot of changes
for example, berserkers aren't going to be completely shit tier anymore between cyclone blocking attacks, war cry being stronger and healing, and rock fist giving them more mobility and a big AoE stun

water mage is best to stay alive in alpha. With the removal of mana shield, they might have a tougher time of that, we shall see.

That would be the Warrior, they get clubs, swords and axes in big two handed versions. You could also be a weeb and go Rogue for a long sword longer then their whole body.

warriors use proper two handers, rogues have a weebtana two hander

water mage will be pretty squishy again based on the mage gameplay video, since while you can heal it looks like you'll get 2 shot by anything that isn't a trash mob
Warriors can use swords, shields, maces, axes, greatswords, greataxes, and hammers/clubs.
equippable combinations are 1h weapon + shield, dual wield, or 2h weapons. Their classes are berserker and guardian, which are self-explanatory

So, Berserkers now get Berserker rage, not War Frenzy. Heals super quick too, makes engagements not as dangerous if you can actually take on your enemy. I'm coming out of it with full health now. Stupid cows never stood a chance.

You can change specialization at a guild receptionist. I just changed from an assassin with the stealth ability to a ninja which allows you to shoot shuriken for a period of time. Doesn't cost anything which is nice.

F1 shows the controls of your character.
F2,F3 resize the GUI.
