No, that was a purple Game Boy Color. I remember that issue as well. OP's pic is from the Gulf War in the early 90s and is currently on display at Nintendo World New York. It survived a mortar shell dropping on a barracks and the subsequent fire that burned the barracks down.

It "survived" in the sense that the shell is technically still... a thing? They OBVIOUSLY replaced the internals and screens, the melting didn't fuck up the frame of the screen so thoroughly just to magically not even damage the screen at all.

Nintendo's repair shop powered it on and heard the game playing through the speaker so they gave the guy a new one and kept the old one for bragging rights after replacing the screen.
