Finally saw it today, and boy was I disappointed >47 walks like an autistic twink >47 falls for a literal whore with a tattoo on her face >47 doesn't kill the guy who has been chasing him for over 3 years because this literally who whore said "stop" but kills dozens of other people just fine >Black Hitman exists, etc.
Watched it earlier today, and like most video game movies it's pretty bad if you want a 1:1 adaption, but frankly I enjoyed it despite this. Video games just don't work as movies, just look at the Assassin's Creed one for an example of someone trying to get around the whole faithfulness angle. The best we can hope for is something that is either a)enjoyable in its own way or b)takes the essence/spirit/whatever of the game and recreates it for a different medium
Chase Morgan
>tl;dr film adaptations based on video games suck the only one I recall to be watchable is Tomb Raider and only because Angelina Jolie's sideboob (didn't know at the time that she was naked in Moojave Moon and Gia)
Caleb Smith
didnt expect TOO much in terms of adaptation, there were some scenes i enjoyed
i guess what annoyed me was the shoehorning of tropes/traits that the in-game Hitman 47 would never even have also the romance was BULL
Assassins Creed and Tomb Raider, got it. watching one tonight
Justin Morgan
Why would you need to look? Modern games are like movies now lol
David Ortiz
The one thing they did good is the walk user
Brody Gray
The walk is perfect, it's literally exactly like he walks in the games released before the film. Don't disagree with your other points, though, the "die with a little dignity" train car sword fight was stupid out of this world.
Jonathan Smith
you reckon? hmm. Perhaps to me it looked like his frame was too skinny for it, you know?
Jordan Adams
its basically a car commercial
Angel Sanders
You're confusing it for the other one, which absolutely is a 90 minute Audi commercial.
youtube.com/watch?v=49rBhHiPcZQ They nailed a lot of things visually, including the frame, look and walk. The things that stopped the film from being absolute Kino were an atrocious re-interpretation of the Hitman lore alongside having him behave like the average "meh, I tried to stealth this, let's just shoot up the place" instead of the "Silent Assassin" modus operandi. In this clip you can clearly see how much they cared about the details, like the crossed Silverballer stance, how he takes cover, plenty of 3d person shots, pre-planned assets etc. The fact that he just drops the Silverballers in the elevator is unforgivable, though, as is his awful Russian pronunciation on top of going all-out Rambo. >that Kino shot of him leaving the tailor right after this The film had so much potential, fuck... Why can't we have nice things, bros?
Kayden Cruz
Day of the Jackal
Jason Gonzalez
Visually, Olyphant looks pretty damn similar to 47, I was genuinely surprised by that. At least it isn't as shitty as the new Hitman movie.
James Richardson
>The things that stopped the film from being absolute Kino were an atrocious re-interpretation of the Hitman lore alongside having him behave like the average "meh, I tried to stealth this, let's just shoot up the place" instead of the "Silent Assassin" modus operandi. can most definitely get behind this. agreed. good post
very nice, cheers dude
Eli Peterson
A western production company choosing to shoot their film in Bulgaria to save some money is never a good sign.
>now you remember the Max Payne movie, and Uwe Boll's game movies
Levi Jenkins
Sure, Max Payne had the same lore issues Hitman had, but having it in the same sentence with the abomination that is Boll is just fucking insulting. youtube.com/watch?v=8UppYl3On9I The trailer alone is of better quality than anything Boll has ever made and will ever make.
Lucas Miller
Hitman came out in 2007? I thought it was sometime in 2012.
William Jenkins
Yep, '07 for the first one, then I think it was either 2015 or 16 for the sequel/reboot
Ian Peterson
is the later one bad? wanted to check it out. however, i dont know, due to
Matthew Thomas
Honestly I've never seen it, and I'm not sure I want to either. If you'd like to watch it you should, but the general opinion seems to that it does everything "wrong" with the first one and amplifies it threefold, so if you didn't like the Timothy Olyphant movie than you'll probably hate the Rupert Friend one even more
Agreed, I have little faith we'll ever get a video game that's both true to the source material and kino at the same time, Wick writer or not
Logan Brooks
>Black Hitman exists, etc Well they can be imperfect clones user, plus there was a black female one in the game
Eli Wilson
Insulting as it is, I put all of these 'movies' in the trash bin, I don't have time to grade them on how much one sucks over the other.
Lincoln Martin
Wick writing was schizoid so no. And besides, the Wick franchise is know for it's over the top stylish action (even that got shittier with each iteration), not it's stealth thriller carefully directed scenes. Now if you told me that Michael Mann was directing it..
Jonathan Hill
>he doesn't know They dropped the entire cloning background for some stupid child assassin school.
Luke Adams
Well, they changed the entire setting to be a sterile family friendly spy thriller with a sprinkle of comedy on top. At least the gameplay is ok.
Levi Hughes
It's just a shitty retread of the 07 movie with none of the charm, don't bother.
Sebastian James
I liked Silent Hill but I'm not familiar with the lore
