The difference between an e-reader and the smell/texture/weight of a real book, especially hardcover and doubly so leather hardcover is a gap so wide you could fit the solar system into it. Every book is unique the moment you open it, and each one you add to your bookshelf is a marker of memories to pull you back to your younger self, reading a book possibly by a long dead author, his ideas and beliefs still living on through that book, shaping your perspective. That loop of memory and memetic transmission isn't as complete reading it digitally (also any edition printed posthumously, as the author could not approve the cover/quality/etc, but this is to a lesser extent than digital). Audio books not spoken by the author or by someone the author approved of are even worse than digital written consumption, though. Just as only getting your religion through your pastor/preacher/etc is inferior to reading your holy texts yourself.
