Is Demolish up? If not, use Demolish, if yes use Snap Punch.
It's not too bad, Demolish is the only thing you really have to watch.

I just got a GNB sprout in vault that basically didn’t know what tanking was and fidgeted around waiting after every pull because he didn’t want to pull. He also kept turning Royal Guard off randomly and only used single target so he pretty much never held aggro on more than one mob. I felt bad for the healer because I basically ended up tanking as a DRG.

I actually like melee way more than casters/ranged. I don't know there's always something about their playstyle (BRD/MCH) that I just can't like. I feel like there's more feedback as a melee if I'm doing good or not.

They've said they're planning to buff the damage of all the ranged jobs slightly. Don't expect more than some minor potency increases though.

The optimal thing right now is just to start in fists of wind, perfect balance snap punch (I THINK, not sure here) then anatman your stacks to max.

Use riddle of fire against enemies weak to fire elements.

Play whatever you want, dumdum. The balance in this game is good enough that only high level autists care about the differences. You might be able to guess the reason why people here whine about it so much, they are all turbo autists. Unless you consistently find yourself playing with extremely high level players, your personal performance is going to make a much bigger difference on how well you do than which job you pick. Even a well played Dancer will still outperform almost every player in this game.

Every job benefits from double weaving to some extent, but the jobs that are least affected by not being able to are WAR, PLD, BLM and MNK. At best you lose minor optimization gains.

Stand so that the whole pack is on one side of you instead of running into the middle. I agree cone/line aoes on a tank make things more difficult but with WAR and how many Decimations/Cyclones you end up doing at max level it's not even a bother really. You get used to using Overpower.

It can also happen again with mantra, roe, chakra and if you can't double weave you probably cant do 6gcds pb well either

Manafication, Embolden, Acceleration, Fleche, Contre Sixte. RDM can only weave on every other cast, which means if you have two abilities up simultaneously but only weave one, the other one gets delayed by over 4 seconds. Over the course of an entire fight, that can easily cause you to lose entire uses of some skills.

You also ideally need to be able to weave between the 1.5s recast times of the melee combo, which is also not possible if you can't double weave.

It's actually a good time to level crafters, but part of the crafter overhaul is making it easier to level crafters, so it may be even better in 5.1. Not sure what the requirements for Ishgard reconstruction are. I imagine you'll want at least one level 80 to unlock it.

From the sound of it it'll be easier to level once the overhaul hits, but we don't know too many specifics beyond getting rid of cross class skills. Could always just casually level a few through Ixal dailies if you'd rather wait.

You can only doubleweave safely during GL3. As soon as you're in GL4, you will clip with 1.9s GCD. The only time MNK should ever clip themselves is with The Forbidden Chakra during Brotherhood phase.

Since you're stuck with pugs your parses will be even worse as rDPS depends on how well people use your buffs or does the encounter. Wipe too much? You're likely to die to unavoidable mechanics, which means your dps is dead and you'll be parsing grey/green/blue. These stay with you forever, and anyone looking at your parses will deem you terrible at the game even though you cleared the encounter.

The only people getting purple/oranges are people running with already established statics with the same strat, and can optimize extremely well under the same conditions. They're not skilled in the slightest, they just run in the same environment over and over again. It doesn't show you how well a person adapts to new situations. Doing lvl80 rotations in sastasha while only doing double digit damage would feel like shit. WoW rotations are brain dead so it makes sense to just scale it no matter the content. They should compromise though, and give you abilities in stages.
lvl 15-49 = lvl 50 abilities available
lvl 51-59 = lvl 60 abilities
lvl 61-69 = lvl 70 abilities
lvl 71-79 = lvl 80 abilities
Just for leveling dungeons though, the rest of the content stays the same.

Buying gear is not that much of a concern, that's true. But you shouldn't get to the point where you're, say, in a Level 44 dungeon and still have on Level 30 gear pieces. If something starts to fall behind, then it's a good idea to replace it with some vendor pieces from one of the hub cities.

Also, at Level 50, you get AF Gear that's better than the gear pieces you get from the Level 45 quests, so be sure to replace those immediately.

Expanding on this, pre-wow mmos also had different styles of gameplay. There was reasons why people would want to play FFXI, Shadow Bane, Star Wars Galaxies, Lineage 2, Everquest, and even Phantasy Star Online vs other games.

It kind of sucked with post-wow mmos trying to beat WoW at being WoW. funny enough though, FFXIV is doing better then WoW in terms of being "WoW" at the moment. The game is easier, more accessible, and prettier than wow. I would say its end game is lacking compared to WoW and it can get a bit Big Brother-y with is community though. Also doesn't run on toasters too well.

No one is supposed to be able to do 2 oGCDs between each Heat Blast. It's not designed that way, it's not balanced that way. It's a 1,5 second GCD you don't have the time to double-weave. Single-weave between each Heat Blast and you should be fine. If not, it's possible to work around that and still do well. It just means you need to completely dump your oGCD stacks before starting overheat.

When you think about it, it truly was Final Fantasy™ XIV Online: A Realm Reborn.

The cutscenes take 5-10 minutes to complete and even then nobody will notice if you're unresponsive during the 30 seconds it takes to kill bosses between the cutscenes.
As long as you're not far away long enough for the auto-kick to trigger you're fine.

DPS is the best, because there's always a bunch of us, so rarely does anyone call you out if you're screwing up. In my hours of playtime, I've only had two chastisements: one was for the entire DPS team, not me specifically; the other was a tank who explained what I was doing wrong very politely.
