Best Borderlands game, 8.5/10, 9+/10 potential if they fix all issues, balances and we get at least one or two Claptastic/Tina Tina tier DLC.

That being said, the narrative team, as in the ones in charge of the main conflict with the Calypso Twins, needs a slap in the face and a wake up call, because the story had a lot of potential but they blew it, which is kinda surprising because the planetary arcs themselves (Rhys&Katawaga, Maya&Traunt, Pain+Terror, Hammerlock&Jakobs) and a bunch of sidequests were actually well done, but the main conflict and villains could've been done so much more justice, and I say this as a guy who liked the whole streamer angle they had going for.

Story is terrible even as far as Borderlands goes, and Ava is one of the most unlikable characters ever put into a video game. It also runs like shit and crashes a lot. Other than that it's pretty fun.

Except she never really changes from being a bratty teenager or accepts responsibility for Maya's death, she just acts like that the whole game. It's okay for a character to be abrasive if they go through some character development, but that doesn't really happen with Ava. This is Borderlands though, so that's not surprising. Why are you defending this shitty writing, exactly?

She’s the worst character in series of bad characters. I seriously thought Lorelei would be the worst character in game, but Ava blew her out of the water in insufferability.
Mayhem modes are perhaps the most underwhelming endgame content in any game. Global modifiers that can only be found in the map screen is a shit idea. The modifiers should be spawn specific for mobs and bosses. Combined with the modifiers generally being unfun like -75% gun damage in a game sold on its bajillion guns is perhaps the worst decision in all the vast amount of bad decisions in game.
Menus are laggy bullshit when they were near perfect in 2.
Spaceship is a much worse hub than the towns of 2 and presequel.

sidequests were factually better than main. despite having good reasons to, i just never really gave a shit about the chick(i fucking forgot her name). i thought troy could be neat but he fell flat as fuck too

i remembered 2 being worse but it's also been years. it was all surprisingly bearable but i was left wanting for more actually serious scenes and character development. i didn't get much of anything in that regard
