I've had the opposite experience with my DS4, the sticks are already peeling and I barely even use my DS4 outside of the rare times sony releases an exclusive I care about.

Because the upper areas of the controller are where your fingers rest, thus it makes sense to put the most used features there. In modern game design it is the left analog stick and buttons.
Back when the dualshock was initially designed (1994) game design was mainly d-pad centered.

by that logic controllers should be mirrored. But they're not. Holding your thumbs an inch and a half apart from each other and then twisting them around get's uncomfortable much easier than the xbone sticks. With the xbone sticks your thumbs are outwards at a lesser angle.

I love the xbone controller, the one issue I've had is that my previous one developed stick drift after about three years. also the rechargable battery pack should be standard for the xbone, no idea why it isnt. I was never down with the stick placement on the playstation controllers, when I owned a PS3 I actually bought a third party controller that had a layout like an xbox controller.

The triggers ont he DS4 are fucking shit and just placing the controller down can accidentally make them go off because of how they're built. The touchpad (?) is a worthless addition and actively drains a lot of battery life. The Xbone controller has better triggers than the DS4, they actually don't feel like cheapshit in comparison to the DS4 triggers and you won't accidentally set them off by just putting the controller down. The Xbone also works by just plugging it into a controller

I'm one of the world's last sane men who realizes the DualShock is a crap controller. It was an understandable and forgivable jury-rigged stop-gap to Sony getting caught off-guard by the advent of 3D games. "Crap, our controller is a copy of the SNES one but 3D gaming is the thing now! What do we do?" "Hurry and tape some sticks to the bottom till we figure this out." But when they didn't bother to switch designs for the PS2 the controllers shape became a branding issue and now we're stuck with it. It's very obvious how awkwardly out of the way the primary stick on the DualShock is because the controller was designed without having it in mind. You have to awkwardly bend your thumb to use your controllers most important input (the left thumb stick) while the seldom and marginally used D-pad is given prime placement that the ergonomics of the controller are designed to gravitate your hand around despite the fact you're not using it.

I still use my DS3 on pc for everything that isn't FPS games. I really like the DS3, the only shit part about it, and admittedly it's a big one, are the triggers, but having 12 years of experience with them, I'm used to it by now.

Generally it's great, but I dislike the placement of the start/select buttons (the tall analog sticks get in the way and their too flat) and wish the home button was in the middle instead of the side.

360 controller was the best but the triggers and buttons didn't feel good / last as long as the ds4 and 1 do.

Not to mention the battery lasts about a month and a half

I actually agree but the ergonomics are unmatched, and considering those buttons are never used in any context that requires fast inputs, it doesn't bother me. The buttons are fat and feel great to press, the sticks are perfect, the triggers are so natural, I love the switch pro-controller. $70 is a lot but it was worth it to me

My ps4 controller has hit the ground more than four times and it's solid as a rock. Not a scratch on it and works fine. The touchpad, the speaker and the share button are stupid, retarded and gay and drive the price up. Just make a basic solid ps4 controller for 25 or 20 bucks and we're set.
