it's mediocre at best. it relies on the fear of the sea creatures but once you find that the ai is shit, you really won't be afraid of anything. it still has a retarded amount of bugs that really shouldn't be in a 'released' game; it still feels like it's in early access.

The first two hours of subnautica were the scariest experience i've ever had in a game.
But once you learn that you're not actually in danger most of the time, it kinda loses it's appeal.

agree, and it feels like it has to do with the vehicles and how early you get it. it seems like they're going in a different direction with below zero. unlocking the submersibles are a bit more involved, and it has some tense moments. of course the game is still in alpha and subject to change, and i can see them casualizing that a bit.
