As far as character progression goes this game has the best in my opinion. You want to punch things? Sure. Want to cast magic? You can do that too. Do both? Why the fuck not?
Unfortunately the game is hampered by fucking Nexon and it's shitty Cash shop tactics.

Surprising Nexon has been pretty laxed with that game like most of the old p2w stuff is either free or given out through events and there's always at least 1-2 events going. I mean you still have to deal with loot boxes and shitty upgrading mechanics but the same can be said for most mmo's these days.

Nexon NA as a whole has been pretty anti pay to win. They realized a few years ago, probably with MS1 Rebbot server, that they make more money of cosmetics here than actual pay to win stuff.
Just look at recent stuff.

Sure their games populations wise are definitely not anywhere near where they used to but they're doing things good for the players.
I don't know if that's their plan for every game going forward or if it's just a lie to push their next big MMO scam but it's a nice change.

It's a pretty neat game and I'm sad I missed out on it during its prime.
I've been looking for similar games that have more juice left in them but haven't had much luck.
I was looking at Villagers and Heroes but it's also a mobile game.

And you were right but to be fair, blacksmith was also one of the worse skills to level and still is. Luckily though things are a lot easier now than they were back then.

I like how the skill and stat system works on paper, but some life skills are a pain to level yet you need that DEX from some of them to help out other combat styles.
At least getting INT isn't that painful until you're doing Musical Knowledge and traveling all over Iria for treasures.
