We have literally four whole characters from entirely new series with no prior representation in Smash. They clearly built the Fighters Pass with the base game in mind.

The point is that he was so easily replaceable to wayforward, the one universally loved part of this entire studio was so easily cast aside once he wanted a little more freedom. They didn't even consider contracting him, they instead contracted a different composer since it was cheaper and easier.
