Games with a similar aestethic as yakuza series?

I just finished all the yakuza games that are out on pc, and I really want games with a similar feel. Especially the part where you walk around town doing stupid side missions. That sort of over-the-top absurdist slice of life kinda shit. Preferably 3D. It doesn't need to be a brawler or have anything similar in terms of story, just the vibe. It reminds me of gintama.

there was one recently. somethign about judges. and an old samurai one too, on PS3

Try Shenmue. Yakuza was basically a spiritual successor to it and many major gameplay elements are carried over from it. It's also available on PC.

Judgement, Shenmue, and the Yakuza spinoffs.

>judgment
I want to play it, but I'm going to uni and can't take my ps4 with me, so I'll have to wait for a pc port.
>spin offs
I know theres the zombie one that isn't good, and the samurai ones that i would love to play, but I don't think they're in english(?)
>shenmue
I actually want to play it, although I've read multiple times that it's quite boring. Is it just a slow start, or is it truely a snoozefest?
thanks for recs either way

I think at least one is translated and fully playable on RPCS3. There's also a Fist of the North Star one, but I'm not sure if that's the one that was translated.
Also I forgot, but there are some untranslated PSP titles with some macros floating around that explain everything about them.
>I've read multiple times that it's quite boring.
I haven't played it myself but there are some good reviews of it floating around I could point you to to help make your choice.

Have you played Deadly Premonition?

Shenmue doesn't have the over the top action of the Yakuza games. It's less beat 'em up and more investigating. If Yakuza is action then Shenmue is mostly adventure.

The first game is spending a lot of time in this small town but Shenmue II goes big when Ryo heads to China. Lots of stuff to do in both games, minigames and sideactivities. Lots of interactable objects in Shenmue to pick up and investigate

Also Shenmue is nowhere near as over the top as Yakuza can be and takes itself more seriously. Still a great series but Yakuza and Shenmue have their differences

Do you get the same aesthetic if you visit Kabukicho in real life?

yes, but less cool streetbrawls and wacky adventures, the bars are more expensive, and a bajillion nigerians trying to rip you off

Maybe try Sleeping Dogs. It's not as wacky, but its good fun hanging around in China or whatever.

>Nigerians
>in Japan
???

Dotonbori - which the Osaka parts of Yakuza are based on - is so wacky, it feels like it's straight out of the games sometimes. Seen a crowd of about 100 people jumping off a bridge, a police car chasing another car in reverse down a busy street full of pedestrians, and two drunk samurai cosplayers going at it outside a bar.

Yeah there are two teams working on translating it in RPCS3, one for Ishin and one for Kenzan.

They post updates every few months or so but it looks promising. It's a slow process, and they're still looking for volunteers.

Also this

Nigerian immigrants who move to Japan for work but end up getting unemployed, and try to scam people. Not too common but it still happens.

Why do no other videogames come even close to Yakuza in terms of god tier writing?

>title asks for aesthetic
>OP post asks for feel and walking around town
are you a mental cripple

Fuck. I thought at least japan was free from the blight of nogs. I guess nowhere is 100% safe

its not 3d

Also Shenmue 1 and 2 is like Yakuza at times

They're employed by the hostess bars to get weak willed Japanese men and naive tourists inside.

Playing Sleeping Dogs now, it's missing that level of autistic detail Yakuza has. Like, there is a small variety of foods you can buy, but the animation/models only show the MC eating takeaway chow mien.

The type of stuff your saying you enjoy about Yakuza is the stuff Shenmue is predicated on. Walking around a comfy town, talking to people, unraveling little slice of life subplots. You'll probably like it.
The controls are pretty jank though, they'll take some getting used to.
