I don't own the game, only played it at my cousin's house from time to time. I enjoyed it, but I am not sure if I would have fun doing a long continuous playthrough.

let me spell it out for you: I don't know how old you are, but unless you were a fag in your late teens / early 20s, by the time you're getting close to 30, you realize the partying life is vapid and boring and you want something more meaningful because you spent the better part of your early adulthood doing that shit and it gets tiring as fuck after a few years. but, if you've never experienced it till you're older, you're going to think it's the fucking shit for a few years and then it's going to hit you like a brick and you'll realize that the only people who still want to be doing that after 25 are an emotional drain who will bring you down. hey, I could be wrong, maybe you've met your best buddy and you'll spend the next 50 years of your life blowing snow on casino bathroom counter tops, but most likely you'll just get tired of each other and move on. like I said, word to the wise. just remember what some fag on a forum told you when you have your inevitable realization.

Eh, I honestly can't think of anything else I would rather do on weekends. I study hard enough, can't think of anything more "meaningful" than that.
As I said, maybe I'll get bored of this after a couple years and we won't be friends anymore, but so what? My dad's job requires him to move every few years, I've never had a friend for more than 1-2 years in school. 3 years maximum in my undergrad.

If you want just to explore. It's not an amazing game mechanically, but if you feel like you just want to immerse yourself in a completely new world, without many distraction, and just explore what is behind the next corner, in the next cave, Subnautica is arguably the best on the market.

If you want just blood-pumping action. It's a fast paced shooting and showering in gore reduced to the most bare minimum, and then polished to a mirror shine.

I can tell you what I gathered from a perspective of someone who also did not enjoy it, but likes to take an impartial look at games:
When it comes to metroidvanias, it's about as good as it gets. The controls are crisp and smooth, there is a ton of variety, and what is most important for this kind of games, the progression is really, really well thought through.
Metroidvanias have a rather specific gameplay loop with rather specific appeal. The gradual unlocking of tools and world results in a very unique form of satisfaction of how it "all comes together".

And Hollow Knight understands this perfectly. If it is something you are looking for, I can understand that this is a game really worth playing.

Sadly, while I get the theory of it, I just don't enjoy the platforming/2D combat too much. It's by no means badly done, it's just something that does not excite me.
And if you are like me, and just don't enjoy the core gameplay loop, then the game won't grab you.

In other words: it's a really well made game, but for a somewhat specific audience. Those who like these kinds of games will love it and praise it to all hell, but if you are not one of them...
