Elders are probably my favorite enemies in the game. Such a top level threat.

I've had runs where I find a chest right next to the pod and decide to wait just long enough to get some cash for it since I can already see the TP. I routinely end up waiting past 45 seconds before a single enemy spawns. It's not like I can do productive things in that time either, it's just 45 seconds of twiddling my thumbs waiting for the game to actually start.

The main difference is that it has artefacts while RoR2 currently doesn't. If they add the Command artefact back into RoR2 it'll make the game very easy.

thing is, judging by logs from ror1 and some ror2, planet's inhabitants weren't particularly violent when survivors weren't arond. one log in ror2 suggests they had communities that coexisted peacefully

Yeah the logs are NICE, but it feels weird to get these sort of "short stories" if you will. Given a choice, I would 100% prefer log entries from the these would be plunderers/survivors.

On first loop, grab a chest or two then beeline to teleporter, don't backtrack too much after the event is over for chests. Getting to stage 3 at 8 or 9 minutes into the run is good timing. Up to you whether you wanna farm up stage 4, there's more guaranteed greens here than earlier stages in a loop and a way for a guaranteed red depending on which map you got.
Past the first loop you can start just rushing the tp then backtracking around for chests because getting to this point assumes you have mobility by now.
Or you can just full loot every map and attempt to brute force your way through with sheer number of items but that isn't likely unless you've somehow filtered your loot pool.

ror1: providence aka the boss fucks up Contact Light, a cargo ship that was flying near the planet the game takes place on. Ship crashes, survivors crash-land. Native species of the planet that are usually peaceful turn hostile when they spot the surviviors. Survivors scavange Contact Light cargo, kill hoardes of natives, find crashed Contact Light, fight and kill Providence and leave the planet forever changed.

Humans were up to something on the planet, the final boss of RoR1 prevented their main ship from leaving with their teleportation technology. The survivors fight their way through hordes and hordes of aliens to try and escape. Eventually they kill Providence, who sometimes insults the player with his last breath (you monster) casting doubt over what exactly humans were doing on the planet.

Scorched Acres did this: First sticky bomb has a 5.5% chance to proc when attacking an enemy, each subsequent sticky bomb increases the odds by 2.5%. Skills 2.0 upped the chance from 2.5% to 5.5% with each stack.

i don't think planet's tech was that advanced for humans. they had all sorts of crazy stuff in CL's cargo, so teleporters aren't that cool for them

Bad advice drizzle is so painfully easy even on my first game ever i had 80 mins run before i decided to kill myself because it was so boring. It's impossible to lose on drizzle even if you tank everything so it will teach you bad habits.

I don't think you can accurately call Providence a bad guy, but I don't think it's accurate to call the survivors 'the villains' either. Providence was protecting his planet from potential human invaders/looters. The survivors probably did not realize what the owners of Contact Light were involved in, and while they killed many innocent creatures they simply were doing what they had to do to survive. Just as you can't fully blame providence for allowing his planet to be endangered, and wrecking a ship with innocents on board you can't blame the survivors for not rolling over and letting imps feast on their bones.

Everyone but merc and in some cases engi. Engi is kind of reliant on his shield to get the most out of his turrets, and Merc needs his dashes for the mobility they offer against flying shits. If you've got the Opinion build online on Engi then it is amazing, as anything that'd kill your turrets by that point doesn't care about the shield anyway. On anyone else it is a straight upgrade to their shift ability, 3 seconds(+3 seconds) of not getting hit, gaining movement speed, slow fall during sprint, and 25%(+25%) of your hp over the duration. Getting an Afterburner makes it even crazier. If you're running Sawblade on MUL-T it is one of the best items for him period, since nothing makes you put your sawblade away as long as you hold the button.

Stuff does get buffs. Look at Frost Relic for example having been given 5 times its original damage, or Artificier's proc rates being massively increased, or Commando's R being given attack speed scaling. Stickybomb stacking is double as effective as last patch, Aegis is actually incredible now, big drone got a cost decrease, Engineer's mines are good now.

I'll never understand why they removed his invulnerability during roll. I just use it for mobility now since the tracking on wisps/golems is insane. I much preferred the idea in RoR1 of just not getting hit over this weird shit they're doing now where you should plan on taking damage until your items eclipse what the game can offer. Am I the only one who feels loader falls off way hard compared to other survivors past the first loop? I can get teleporter done on stage by 25m on monsoon but after that it just feels so bad, without attack speed you're just left with kiting around until your shift can be charged up again.

Most RoR2 tracks feel kind of flat and don't really convey much beyond the first impression you get. In RoR1 they were much more different from eachother and intense.

Thoughts on Merc's new skills?

Personally, I prefer Rising Thunder over Whirlwind now, since it launches enemies, nets fall damage on smaller ones, and lets you attack bosses while getting you out of harms way more reliably.

Slicing Winds felt like it takes more effort than it was worth. Losing invincibility in favor for distance seems counterproductive for a melee character, though I could see it being useful if you had Brainstalks.

Slicing Winds is probably a little bit less powerful overall but its a very welcome option for wanting to start a new run after the last three runs got ended because you mistimed your eviscerate and got one shot because you were deep inside the ass of an overloading worm or flaming dune strider

I think Hopoo-- for whatever reason- have gone out of the way not to fix him. I don't know if they only play on drizzle or what but the difference between him and the other characters on monsoon are obvious to anyone who's honest with themselves. The replacement shift lunar item just seems like the dev team having a laugh at commando players expense. Still my favorite character in any ROR

Worth it if you can avoid taking damage for prolonged periods of time and/or have no healing items. You can use two strides of heresy if you want to benefit from shadowwalk and recharge shields through it.

i know they dont take fall damage because i kept launching enemies with the uppercut twice sending them 20 metres into the air and nothing happened when they landed

I think an ideal solution would be to add an old-fashioned cheatcode menu to the main menu. That way people could see the option there and google "Risk of Rain 2 cheats" and unlock everything that way. Then just have it mark their name in game as a cheater, and disallow completion of challenges until they turn the cheats off.
Everyone wins. People who want their unlocked skins to show they're not 100% absolute shitters will be able to prove they earned them, and people who don't care can deal with having a frowny face next to their name.

Fair enough, especially when you want to get gold and they keep going out of reach. I view it as a way to get the meatier enemies (Brass, Greater Wisp, Elites) out of the way while the smaller/weaker/important targets can be killed by the time they do get back.

Just get them again then, it doesn't take that long. Easily doable in a single weekend.

The bubble of the tele extends downward, so if the tele spawns on one of the narrow bridges, you can have an arti float under it to charge it.

so, you've placed arty under the tele, charged it. what did you do with the boss, just curious

Once you get the tele to 99% nothing more will spawn, so then you just need to clear the small stuff and 1v1 the boss.

Look for the orange sparks that surround it not the teleporter itself. They can be seen from far away and usually even when the teleporter is covered by terrain.

Don't forget the part where it spawns in one of those caves so you never see any of the glowy particles until you're right next to it anyway.
