Czechfag here, Czechs masturbate the fuck over this game, as they should, it's great, it isn't even that janky for the most part imho.
Vietcong is also pretty good and I recommend.
Gothic 1+2
An incredibly janky as fuck Max Payne youtube.com
The Slovak branch of Illusion Softworks made a game called Chameleon on the Mafia engine. FPS/TPS hybrid stealth game which was fully dubbed in English, but never released outside of Eastern Europe.
All Divinity titles that aren't Original Sin I and II.
My nigga
Holy shit thank you user, I forgot about this game and I played it all the time
FYI that bundle removes Starforce, includes the fixed English translation with subs that match the spoken dialogue, and also optionally includes the Spanish translation for people who want it.
I will go around and look for Czech version, I am a Czechfag and this company tends to have pretty good voice acting for their games in their own language, at least Mafia's Czech voice acting was legendary.
I don't think you know what obscure means.
Divinity 2 was such a disappointment.
>You can turn into a dragon!
Yet they weren't telling you that as a dragon all regular enemies disappear and you have to fight nothing but endless amounts of turrets on repetitive flying fortresses.
Vietcong is so good. To this day I am sad that fucking GameSpy died and took multiplayer with it.
He he... those games sure are obscure. Never heard of Mafia before
obscure means games before he was born
Mafia 1 was fairly obscure, Mafia 2 and Mafia 3 made the franchise more popular outside of Czech
>obscure
I remember reading about Mafia in magazines all over back when it was coming out and it had a cross platform release.
Just be very, very careful because most versions of the game have Starforce and it will brick your machine.
Nogga, I was 12 when Mafia came out and it was the hot shit back then in germanistan
Mafia 1 was not obscure. I remember Official Playstation 2 Magazine making a big deal about it because it was coming out around about the same time as The Getaway and so were ripe for comparison since they were both the hot new crime games.
I guess I meant in the US, outside of Europe, I doubt many people knew about Mafia
>Mafia 1 was fairly obscure
No it wasnt, the fuck are you talking about?
>eurojank
Mafia 1 is one of the pillars of slav gaming, everyone remembers it and especially the pre patched race.
But i guess it is obscure in the west
Favourite spoopy game.
This is the only thing I played that fits that description.
All right sorry guys, when Mafia 1 came out and I played it I didn't have any Internet nor access to media, so I was in my bubble beliving it wasn't that well known and only Czechs knew about it, sorry bros
Project Nomads, made by germanfags around 2000 iirc. Gameplay was janky as fuck and kinda meh, but atmosphere and art direction are top notch, kinda reminds me of Sacrifice (which was much better game overall tho).
No problem user, not your fault. Mafia 1 is great and deserves more love. Despite being fucking infuriating a lot of times.
Shit, I didn't even know it existed. Downloading, thanks user
Mafia had great critical acclaim and sold like 2 million units, which by video game standards is pretty damn good (considering the most sold video game ever is San Andreas at 16 million units sold)
What game is that, user? Seems interesting
Not fucking obscure, this game has like 6 full fledged expansion packs.
Severance: Blade of Darkness
Has anyone in here played Daemonica? I remember it being alright, but memories can be faulty
The Void, I'm not entirely sure if I can recommend it because it's been so long I probably don't remember how janky exactly it was.
Viktor: a steampunk adventure
What other games have kino armor upgrades?
The Void
I think this game proves the best that design is more important than technical capabilities. The art direction makes this game more timeless and more pleasant to eye than any game with "photorealistic graphics". Fuck, it's the only game where I started to seriously think that games can be art.
But not many people on the west know about it. That's why it's obscure.
I don't know how obscure this is. It's an RTS/RPG with a sequel and a few expansions made by a German dev. EA bought out the dev and closed them after one game. There's a third game in the franchise but it wasn't made by the original devs and I understand it's not very good. It's fun to compare the cover of the first two games to the cover of the third game.
Played mafia 1 recently for the first time, some of the most satisfying third person shooting i've experienced in a game, though maybe its just max payne without the bullet time.
>Spellforce I&II cover
>Attractive lady in a sexy fantasy armour
>Spellforce III cover
>Generic dark low-fantasy
>you could slap any title on it and it could work.
Germans or Slavs.
Who is the king of Eurojank?
It's not that janky (I think)
Just remember to learn how to properly draw the "donor" glyph (because the game reference is fucked), load yourself with the gold colour before giving colour to sisters, load yourself with purple colour before growing gardens and make sure to get as much color as possible.
this game needs a re-release on GOG or something. I used to play it back in the day and had dreams about walking in the jungle for a week afterwards
>Mafia
>Obscure
>Eurojank
Sorry Bartolomej, I'm not that easy to bait any more.
I've always thought Mafia's shooting is way underrated. The best thing about it is that A and D strafe without rotating Tommy, making it fucking playable on a mouse and keyboard as it's basically an FPS with a further-back camera position.
>Obscure
>Janky
Fucking IGN gave the game 9.2
ign.com
>best drawdistance setting is behind cheat code
what did kreciki meant by this?
I still get PTSD regarding the escort missions in the sequel.
The music in Divinity was kino until the og composser died. youtu.be
I wonder why that hasn't happened already. Did it have a licensed OST? Probably, right?
I don't really think Mafia was obscure I always used to see it in the PC game sections of stores

youtube.com
Yeah it's the music. Man I wanna play that game again, I guess I could just pirate it
Listened to the soundtrack and had so many memories come back. Fuck, Divinity 2 was my favorite rpg back in the day, with numerous playthroughs through it. Such a comfy game.
Nope. It's Bulgarian.
en.wikipedia.org
„You Are Empty”.
Yeah, now I know. I don't know why I thought they were spanish. I think I just misread it somewhere and it just stucked to me.
I remember reading a rather negative review about this game many years ago.
>spanish studio
Rebel Act Studios are the good Spanish studio who made Severance:Blade of Darkness.
I remember this. Loading times were massive on my PC, and was 2hard4me, so I ended up editing the config files to have way more health and stamina.
It's interesting to look back on this post-Souls as well, wonder if From ever played it?
All commandos-likes. Commandos, Desperados, Shadow Tactics and Robin Hood: Legenda Sherwood
FREEDOM AIN'T FREE
I’m from Poland and that game was released around the time of hype surrounding first „Stalker” game. Everybody was expecting from „YaE” something that this game could never delivered.
To be honest I replay „You are Empty” once in a few years. Game has great dark/grim atmosphere.
Believe it or not parts of some Ubisoft games were made at Ubisoft Sofia but i wouldn't call Ubisoft games obscure so i did not mention them.
They probably did since Dark Souls is a copy paste of Rune and Severance.
P.S. Both Rune and Severance are better than Dark Souls.
I am sorry. I looked at the screenshots of this game and what is this?
Basically budget Half Life.
Funny thing: game was made with cooperation with artists from Academy of Fine Arts. That means you have terrible enemy design, made by programmers and one of the best level design, made by said artists.
Great soundtrack!
youtube.com
To be fair, not every enemy model looks bad to me. It just that one looks especial awful.
The bros and I LAN this every few months still. one of the best shooters of that sweet, sweet era before brown and bloom.
retard, mafia 1 is more well known than its sequels
7.62 High Calibre is a Jagged Alliance clone made by slavs. It has absurdly detailed gun mechanics
>Obscure
Unfortunately the gameplay is absolute dogshit and you should genuinely play it if you want to see what a truly bad game feels like.
I could never get into the sequel(probably because it ran like crap on my PC back then)
absolute dogshit game
or the convertible cheat code
Eurojank threads combined with obscure japanese threads, remind me to never trust mainstream reviewers. I passed on so many amazing games when i was young due to those gamespot/ign/egm shits giving them bad scores only to play them years later and learn they were some of the best games out there.
Glorious Knights of Honor.
Mortyr fucking sucks
>Original War never went anywhere.
>Reviews all called it a cheap/janky Red Alert 2 rip-off.
A lot of people are nostalgic for the times when the reviews actually held some value. But the moment they decided to not give a damn, it was over for the game.
>Mafia 1 was fairly obscure
It's way more well known than 2 and 3.
>One of the best game ever
>Obscure
Real Urbex hours + Twin Peak/X Files vibe. Never been so surprised by a game.I am pretty sure it was made by like 5 finish guys living in a secluded hut only surviving on beer, vodka and coffee.
CliveBarker's Undying was pretty good, and it used the unreal 1 engine and added real time shadows to it, which is pretty much the best thing ever and makes for a better atmosphere than any modern engine
it's obscure and it's jank
That game doesn't count since it was made by the US based Studio.
Mafia > any GTA
This game is so bad it became a Cult classic
youtube.com
Bootleg Czech Splinter Cell with main character voiced by Sonic
Mafia wasn't obscure, it was one of the biggest games around in the year you were born.
I remember playing this, the repetitive music was annoying and it lasted 4 hours
This was pretty good though, I liked the varied locations
Same here, someone even modded a multiplayer into it
We really should make a chart or a list of essential eurojank games
I really enjoyed it, was just the right mix of atmospheric, funny and spooky
>the devs are now working on an early access open world survival rpg that is only vaguely connected to Infra
>last update is that they're "not very happy" with how it looks or plays right now
Perkele
Definitely wasn't obscure in it's day. I wish I could play this again.
The iffy thing about this is that someone will try to say popular games that were fads that arent popular anymore will count, or someone like OP might just be ignorant about a game’s popularity if it’s older.
OH SHIT, I think this is the game i played.
Decent Hitman clone, the sequel is good too
Yeah, they should just do something else. They have such an eye for little details and are very good in creating a "natural" atmosphere.
Played and liked it. The soundtrack was pretty great
Pičo, this is where it's at
Also heads-up for Slovak-bros right here since they made one of my favourite TBS games of all time, the Spellcross
I still patiently await till Cauldron finally sobers up and finally makes a proper sequel
>Cauldron
Those guys made Chaser and that awful Soldier of Fortune sequel
Anybody remember the drill tutorial? best way to make a tutorial for a shooter
Kdo se vleče, neuteče
Aw sheeeeeit. Love me some Inquisitor. It's my all time favorite.
Don't do this to me user.
>Be in kindergarten
>teachers bring floppy tapes
>we have just one computer
>Vlak is on it
>play it all the time, pushing other kids away
Good times..
Believe me, Spellcross is a fucking masterpiece and would have made it much farther, if it wasn't based on DOS rather than Win that experienced breakthrough in OS department by the time of Spellcross release
Polda
Ve stínu havrana
6 ženichů a 1 navíc
You can, it's on myabandonware
>Polda
Doesn't it have like 8 games now
>All these zoomers simply posting old games and claiming they are obscure
This is a bait thread, right?
Why is it called 'eurojank'?
America and Canada have put out their fair share of janky fucking games over the years.
There will NEVER be an LBA3.
Its a term for games out of poorer euro areas that have no budget and are barely held together. It doesn't mean buggy.
A budget prototype of later Far Cry games
They also often overly ambitious and unique despite their low budgets
Nějaká střílečka s Becherovkou...
Boiling point and Precursors are both genuinely terrible games.
when I was studying fire my undergrad I met a girl who said this was her favorite game. I shouldn't have let her so through my fingers
Maybe because is some euro countries like Italy the boxed copies their games are released by FX, a Spanish publisher.
Mafia 1 is in my opinion the best PC game of all time.
Boiling Point was a buggy mess -borderline unplayable
>The Longest Journey
>Obscure
Its wildly held to be the best adventure game ever made. The only reason its "Obscure" is its old. I hate zoomers.
my nigga
this game has solid mechanics, I bought this on sale and was seriously impressed
Yeah, the game was so obscure they made 2 sequels based off just the name. The second one had a a sloppy retconned tie to the first game and I am guessing the 3rd had no tie at all. Didnt bother to play it cuz playing as a spook didnt interest me.
I liked this
>the most sold video game ever is San Andreas at 16 million units sold
Nah that's Minecraft and GTAV
Kafka used to be "obscure" as well
Anons, why haven't you learned to slavrunes yet?
>more and better Cкaчaть sites
>slav kino
>slav vidya
>slav literature
>slav girls
>slav memes
There is absolutely no reason for you to not learn slavrunes.
Does this have Starforce?
The UFO series, a trilogy of XCom-like games made in the Czech republic using the leftovers from a Julian gollop project for a xcom spiritual successor. For some reason i love all three games, especially the second despite it being a pile of bugs and exploits.
I know some basic Russian, more options to pirate stuff is a really nice thing.
INFRA is great, perhaps the best walking simulator made thus far
That doesn't count since it was made by British based studio.
Forgot pic.
>MFW the Shotgun enemies
How many times I fucking got one hit killed by those fuckers.
The question is, which one is better
The Aftermath for superior atmosphere but bit of a lackluster in gameplay variety?
The Afterlight for superior gameplay but shitty visual design?
The Aftershock for the decent blend of everything but repetitive environments?
>fairly obscure
Mafia was pretty much treated as a AAA release around the time, it was on every site and in every magazine and the demo alone was insanely popular as was the game. At least here in Europe, but if US games websites were any indication it'd have been the same for the US. Not sure why you'd call it obscure.
Mafia is 17 years old, how many people on Yea Forums today do you think were alive and old enough to remember reading about it?
Who was in the wrong here?
Unironically. Was Tommy justified in betraying his family?
The cartonesqe visual design of afterlight wasn't so bad in my opinion, and the lack of maps of aftershock can be somewhat lessened with some mods since it is full of mostly working cut maps (the only thing that is busted are the civilian escort mission).
Though the one i played the most was the first one, the dark and hopeless atmosphere is very captivating despite the endgame being a game of who shoot first thanks to all the Op weapons on both sides.
Didn't Salieri only did that because Tommy didn't complete a job?
Holy shit i wanted to post this, based, this game got me into all of these Punk/Pop Punk bands.
But are any of these games actually good?
>ZASE STEJNÁ SITUACE TOME, ZASE SE NEMŮŽEŠ ROZHODNOUT
Some are total shit, some are flawed gems
Avoid everything by City Interactive, the kings of Eurojank shovelware
>Mafia 1 was fairly obscure
This is zoomers actually believe
They're jank with soul. At least watch some youtube video of it and see if it's something you'd like.
Name me the games you're contemplating about, since the whole thread is a mix of both what younger gen considers obscure just because it's old and genuinely rather localised releases
Partly, partly for robbing a bank without permission
And not killing the whore and Frank.
>considering the most sold video game ever is San Andreas at 16 million units sold
What the hell user, this number was probably exceeded in 2007 or so. Besides even in the GTA franchise GTA V sold 110 million copies. But Mafia's numbers for its time were huge success nonetheless.
Mafia is good even though it was pretty janky (that fucking car race). Something that is at least as good as Mafia would be great to play.
He robbed bank which made police to start war on crime
He haven't killed the whore
he haven't killed Frank
he was dangerous to family
how the fuck did some random czech game had such good VA for main cast, fucking hell
I tried playing this after I heard it was like DaS. I don't remember finishing it because the level design was just a slog and uninspired, but I remember the main gameplay being somewhat engaging and a bit "souls-like", so I'd recommend this for anyone that's interested
>more and better Cкaчaть sites
чё бля?
playing this in computer class with other 5 bros on one pc was fucking blast
Alright, not gonna further discuss what is or ain't obscure
But from the standpoint what games got mentioned in this thread that I've had personal experience, these should be generally good, if not exactly "quality" games worthy of your playtime, games that either lost their way or got somewhat overlooked, and that should be actually available wherever you may be instead of rather local games:
>Divine Divinity
>Vietcong 1 + Fist Alpha
>Spellcross
>King's Bounty
>7.62 High Calibre
>Spellforce 1
>Inquisitor
>The Longest Journey
>Knights of Honor
These are on the other hand games, that might not be really all that refined, changed their way in sequels, didn't age all that well or are now of a niche genre, but do have some sort of aspect speaking in their favour; be it atmosphere, ingenuine design, writing, gameplay or right about just simple "charm" if you will. Just research each one of them, and decide for yourself if it's worth a try:
>Cryostasis
>You Are Empty
>Chaser
>Severance: Blade of Darkness
>Death to Spies
>Ve stínu havrana
>UFO games
>other Divinity games prior Original sin
>Spellforce 2
Based.
>Chaser
skip this one boys, it's the blandest game I have ever played
May be, but from technical standpoint is still one of the really good for its respective time and visual design was also pretty nifty
youtube.com
Salieri was wrong for trying to cover up gemstone smuggling with cigar bullshit. It shows his lack of trust in his three most capable soldiers, and family is built on trust.
Tommy and Paulie were wrong for doing the heist bullshit instead of bringing up problem to Salieri in his face. At this point Morello was done with, and family could handle a bit of inside problem perfectly fine.
Sam was probably least wrong, because he stayed his ground, but probably was too slow on uptake and missed opportunity to defuse situation before it blew out of proportion.
I believe point of last hours of Mafia is that mafia business just leads to this, one way or another. Too much shit accumulates here and there, too many personal grudges, pettiness, and so on. Then it explodes, and there's literally no one who's not wrong in some capacity.
when i finally become president it will be mandatory to play silent storm
No no no, iirc it's very very bland and samey
this game is tetris level genius, endlessly replayable
>no one posted Hidden&Dangerous yet
These two are also fucking amazing games
I'm surprised about this too. I initially thought this was some american game dev studio based on VA.
And the Czech dub is even better.
wasn't it financed by the mafia
>Suicide bombs you in a teacup
>tfw middleclass guy, no criminal background except shoplifting for lulz and expensive food, like cheese and expensive meat. Stolen food taste the best and i feel like a pirate when coming home with loot
>play alot of thief gold for first time this year
>play kingdom come deliverance, in middle of day, i sneak into some house, steal stuff, come out, wow what a rush! this game is so realistic
>2 months later, im drunk, enter middle class area, hop fence, steal my first bike, FELT almost exactly like KCD WOW
>last week
>In middle of night, drunk like crazy, enter properties, feel on doors, enter some cellar but too dark
>end up finding a villa worth 800k, enter through backdoor, IT FEELS EXACTLY LIKE THIEF
>sneak like cat, PEAK THROUGH CORNERS, leaning
>plan to steal liqour and make sandwhich at fridge
>steal some thongs (this was original plan also i dont have thong in my panty collection)
>here tiny beep, small noise right above me
>decide to leave, door on 2nd floor, overlooking my (2nd stolen) bike, bolt
>not sure if anyone saw me, no police car, no news
It was the greatest most intense rush and night of my life. I was originally gonna steal womens cloths from clothing line. It was night-time, i was dressed in a 200 dollar tuxedo to blend in and not look suspicious, it was raining and cold, it was top comfy, like almost noir type of weather. it was incredible
Anyway, related to thread, thief gold is really good game i guess
forgot to mention. 1 year ago, just cutting through someones lawn was a big deal made my heartbeat go loud and gave me feelings like "you cant do this, its wrong to walk on someone elses property"
Big difference
if somebody didn't play this game yet, i cannot stress enough how good it is
Don't know if it's obscure, but it's really good.
>game becomes sanic speed if your computer has been up for days
Best part about those games is the bugs/glitches, even better when you exploit them.
Original War
It was an absolutely fucking amazing RTS - flawed, without a doubt, but really very clever, charming, and with some remarkably good narrative.
It was also just balls to the walls insane. Suicide-bombing hominids, mamooth-riding Arabs with grenade launchers, and running over sabertooths with a fucking howitzers. Fucking KINO, if you pardon the expression.
Also one of the earliest proofs that western gaming journalism was always biased against East European titles to a certain point.
You do know that is an Arkane Studios game, right?
that game was solid 8/10 until the mech part
It is, but I enjoyed the locations
Namely the maps set in Russia
Plus the soundtrack is pretty good
Germans. Saying that as a turk living in germany
Yah, I do. So what?
I wouldn't call it obscure
I got probably to the halfway point in the game on Xbox, need to finish it some time
You Are Empty got a lot of shit back in 2007 because it was a little bit janky for the time. I got a brand new copy off of Amazon and it worked perfectly for me, solid shooter that's pretty fun to go through. Worth a buy. Only issue I've had with it is that the dubbed dialogue Atari did was really fucking shittily done. Like British accents with barely any emotion in it and no lip syncing to the original Ukrainian dialogue. It brings me back to a discount HL2 or maybe just the HL2 Beta with it's own story unrelated to it. It was made by Ukrainians so it's really possible they just saw the HL2 beta and went for that style.
Basically it takes place in Soviet Russia where you play as a Soviet Officer who wakes up in the hospital for some unreleated injury from before the events of the game. The Russians were making a broadcasting tower and hooking up someone with a great psychic ability to it so that they could turn all of Russa into super strong Soviet soldiers and show the glory of Russia. This goes wrong and almost everyone in Russia becomes a mutant or retarded strong guy. So not much different than it is now. You as one of the few actual people left must make your way to the tower and shut it down. You're sent back in time after and kill the head scientist on the project which results in the world's history as we know it as the timeline wasn't ruined by the tower being activated.
There's supposed to be a remake coming out this year, but I haven't heard shit about it since last year. Remind of Empty.
Fun Fact: Its in Steam's database according to SteamDB and only 2 months ago did 1C themselves order a single key of it so they're doing something with it.
This game is superb.
>Hidden & Dangerous is a 1999 World War II video game developed by Illusion Softworks
wait.. what?
what's weird here?
Artstyle is amazing! Those cinematics...
Got to say I preferred Men of War over CoH. Best RTS without basebuilding I've ever played. Each unit having an inventory and having the option to directly control them really set it apart. Tank armor also worked in a realistic way that only really caught on with WoT and War Thunder.
I didn't realize that was European. The ASCII cutscenes where a particularly nice touch.
thats hilarious user, i love thief and being mischievous irl
That's the original, first game that got released in 99
H&D2 came out in 2003
spellforce
youtube.com
the last game they did released was buggy as hell they did released like 40 patches
You really should play original Blitzkrieg and Sudden Strike. Absolute top notch games
youtube.com
>I didn't realize that was European. The ASCII cutscenes where a particularly nice touch.
It's Czech, developed largely by the same team of people that later on joined with the Mafia guy (Vávra) and together created Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
It's a bit of a sad story, because the game was released incomplete (entire THIRD of the game was cut due to publisher pressure, and was intended to be repackaged as an "expansion" - yeah, that kind of shit used to happen AGES before DLC became a thing), but it then bombed hard in western reviews for... shall we say, not entirely justified reasons, resulting in the title never being fixed or completed.
It has rather amazing fanbase though, even today. There was even a major project to reconstruct the originally intended third campaign known as "Arabian Nights", but I think they only managed to reconstruct two or three missions from the on-disk cut content.
didn't they also do honey select
>max payne
the first two of which also count as eurojank
>Mafia 1
>Max Payne 1
>Gothic 1 & 2
Eurojank basically made my childhood
No! Max Payne is not janky at all.
>literally the most famous pc game of 2002
>OBSCURE
zoomers get out
They're still euro games with fairly low budgets and a small studio. Also Max's face in the first one is a perfect example.
Cocu mou xyu, bro.
т. пиндoc
Max's face in the first one is perfect, a shame Sam Lake gave up on being a star
Nah dude. Max Payne was state of the art
