I think the intended method is to get high perception, but throwing grenades around seems to work fine. My personal go-to is using forcefield and hovering around to find out where they are, then using psionic mania and launching a fucking cryo orb under their feet
The only ones that gave me any trouble were south of rail crossing, where there's like 5-10 in the same building/cave, but that's what saving is for

Can anyone confirm that the Protectorate committed a false-flag on that civilian train with the CAU? It seems like the game hints at this given the wording of the doc's story in Fort Apogee. The doc was, quote, "told" that the Free Drones were responsible. Meaning she didn't know for certain herself.
I just can't see the Free Drones killing civilians intentionally. They may be fanatical, but only about stopping the Protectorate. Meanwhile the Protectorate have a very good motive to portray the Free Drones as evil with a staged attack. I also doubt the psychotic CAU would care about underrail civilians (mongrels as they say).

I came away with the same impression, but without more evidence it's just speculation. What is fact is that the Protectorate is not above making up similar hoaxes, like they do if they conquer Foundry. But that attack happened in North Underrail, and we know almost nothing about how FD operates in the north, other than that they are much better organized, have access to considerably more resources, and the Protectorate couldn't root them out not even on their own home turf. I wouldn't rule out either possibility until we see more of them.

Factions in Underrail are done really well and kept me guessing about the morality of their actions. The Protectorate for example is more complicated than good/evil and it largely differs from member to member just like, say, a real life military organization.

stats should always be allocated based on feats and equipment requirements, never based on skill bonuses. the stat requirements on feats and equipment is how this game is balanced.

The claw is good. Ripper's glove isn't that good but it is nice for stacking bleed. Balor's hammer is good once you get the strength for it. XAL is good if you stack acid resistance. The Pancor is good too but it's only available in DC which is way too late. The rest are all pretty bad, though, yeah.

What I noticed some of the uniques in the case of assault rifles are the only way you can use smaller caliber ammo so that might be good to keep in mind.

What? It's not even hard to get enough with the new stuff in Expedition. Even without it you can still get pretty close to 20 so the accuracy penalty isn't so bad.

Doesn't really matter since you want bigger caliber most of the time, and even in the case of uniques that do let you use bigger caliber it's pointless when their base stats are one third of any decent crafted item, whatever advantage you might get out of having special crafted bullets of a certain caliber goes down the drain when a simple crafted Chimera massively outclasses your OC AR with raw stats alone.
Outside of Oyensorm's staff I can't think of any unique that is worth using, and even the Hodduform of whatever the fuck it's called is just an upgrade to the common Spaeter's staff at the end of the day.

This game is about specialisation my boy, try taking those agility levels and putting them in to per 9. I think snipers only need strength 5?

Pick EXACTLY 8 stats and level them up maximumly. I’d advise guns, stealth, lockpicking, mechanics as that’d start you on the “sneak up and instagib someone with aimed shot” build. Start with aimed shot and sprint to escape.

IMO it's bullshit how overpowered bear traps are, even on characters with 0 trap skill. You can cheese almost all encounters by filling the battlefield with them because enemies will inevitably step into them.
I'd balance it by making bear traps only work when they're fully undetected (as long as the enemy is an intelligent humanoid). If the bear trap is detected. the enemy or player can step into its tile without being trapped, but they suffer a penalty to dodge / evasion / accuracy / action points because they can't move freely since there's a bear trap right under them. If they're stunned, incapacitated or immobilized while they're on that tile, the bear trap automatically sets off and trap the character.
