Gunslinger is basically a cheat code, he automatically gets all synergies for any gun he picks up, but you have to go through some pretty crazy shit to unlock him

Out of the starting ones, Hunter and Marine are the best. I'd personally say Hunter, since if you can get good with the bow she lets you clear the first two floors very quick since it one shots the most basic enemies, and her dog gives you free extra drops sometimes.

enter the gungeon is by far the worst game of it's type that I played, at least binding of isaac is worth playing and nuclear throne isn't slow as all shit
boy i sure do love using the dinky peashooter all the time at the bullet sponge enemies because any weapons you get have very limited ammo
the only good thing this game has is the teleporters but it's still so fucking slow and boring

You can dodge almost everything without rolling. Focus on your character, and just shoot in the general direction of your enemies. Only dodge roll when you absolutely have to.
