I have Celiac and had it activated by a completely unrelated incident. The diet helps keep me away from unhealthy food on top of helping me not be anorexic, so I'd say there's at least some truth to the ploy despite being a cash grab.

Yes, that is why I said genetic predisposition. In some cases it may manifest itself from earliest childhood, but it can also be triggered by stress.

What does not activate it is glutene intake. Unless somebody is forcefeeding you that shit by stuffing a tube down your throat, in which case it's the stress of a madman stuffing tubes in your neck, not the glutene itself, that allows the previously genetically pre-disposed celiac disease to be triggered.

The point being: Glutene does not harm your body if you are healthy. Even if you have the predisposition but not manifestation yet, the amount of gluten you'll eat will have NO effect on whenever it will manifest or not.
Of course, avoiding gluten entirely will help because that way you'll never even notice if it has manifested or not to begin with: however that makes about as much sense as avoiding sunlight entirely to make sure you don't manifest a late onset of photodermatitis...

Anyway: for people with Celiac disease: sure. It's as important as insulin is for people with diabetes.
But to anyone who does not have celiac disease, avoiding gluten is fucking stupid. You are literally just giving money away to scam artists.

I agree, but what I'm trying to say is more about what you don't eat rather than what you do. A fuckton of food that happens to have gluten is also junk not worth putting in your body in the first place. The gluten itself isn't the issue, but it correlates with a lot of other unhealthy stuff like with fast food.
