>both come from some literal who artist on Twitter
Great thread OP I really like it

>Main character sticks out like a sore thumb

nigga u gay

>remake is shit but the original was never good anyways

They look equally terrible.

this

what even is this

They really lost something during that in between time. Their new style is way too uniform and perfect. The older one had a lot more personality and feels more genuine.

The new style reminds me of Warioware, almost. Though I think it would've been better if they stuck to the old style and just worked on improving it.

sometimes I'd switched between which one id like
My ocd side would prefer the rights cleanness
But I'd like the left sometimes more because it looks more honest if messy

What's with all the fucking /ic/ threads on here all of a sudden?
Not that I mind because watching Yea Forums try to talk about art is very amusing and cute.

The hands bit is retarded.

Your cute

Based big d/ic/k poster

right is neat, looks like a cartoon from the 00s

I'm gonna be a hipster and point out the good things about this progress. We all know that the charm has been lost and blah blah blah but the artist has learned things some things from 2016 to 2019.

The 2019 side has better visual clarity and the image is much easier to make out from a distance and it also has a stronger silhouette.
We have to consider that this is someone probably developing a new style and identity, and as you transition into a new style you're met with so much change that you have to take things one at a time. While the pose and expression on the 2019 side is more flat and generic, as time goes on the artist will eventually be able to implement the same sense of expression and positioning from the 2016 version over into the new 2019 style once he/she gets more comfortable with it.
Transitioning to a new artstyle is grueling and it's easy to look back on previous work and feel like you've gotten worse, but once you pull through with it, you develop and mature as an artist.
If you want an example of someone who never tried to make any change, look at Chris Chan.

Left looks far better than anything I can draw

I think Chris being a bad artist is the least of his problems nowadays. especially when he lives off of selling commissions with that distinctively awful artstyle (or at least he did, not sure if cwc even bothers doing commissions anymore).

You'd be surprised what you can accomplish with just a bit of practice.

It's all talent, user. Some of us are born to create, others to wageslave at McDonald's.
And don't bother replying with your motivational bullshit.
I know what my place in the world is, and I'm happy there.

Reminds me of my life as a teenage robot for some reason.

user, I'm not asking you to be a fucking Picasso. All I ask is that you don't let some objectively bad lit-who calarts shitter outclass you.

To add onto this, just look at Evaxephon and CWC.
Both of them have been practicing for ages, yet they still suck and will always suck.
Eva, if you're reading this, please just shit out your game and disappear from the internet forever. For your sake. You will always be laughed at and your name is forever tainted.

talent is a lie, just git gud faggot

Death to western """"""""artists"""""""""""""" and death to calarts.

Why even bother if I will always be mediocre?
All succesful artists come from succesful families. I'm not lying, look it up.
Talent, like IQ, is genetic. To not believe in talent is to not believe in evolution.
Why do you hate reality so much? Just accept the facts and join us peasants.

Nothing is gained through zero effort, slug.

Remake is SOULLESS

Attached: 3555641-awake.jpg (1920x1080, 1.26M)

With zero talent effort is useless, slug.
>>b-but..
Pixel made a masterpiece with 0 (zero) game development experience. Explain this.
Soulful

For the love of god, user, just open up Paint and fucking draw something, you useless sack of shit!

Attached: anger almost through the roof.gif (500x281, 1.97M)

I dunno, I prefer the right, but I'm also a huge sucker for Y2K-type vector art.

>Pixel made a masterpiece with 0 (zero) game development experience. Explain this.
A major part of being a game developer is collaborating with a group of people, which Cave Story didn't require since it was a one-man job.
The guy was still very experienced with computing.

he's called mr elephant. he doesn't like black people

Attached: png.png (544x493, 5K)

>Pixel made a masterpiece with 0 (zero) game development experience. Explain this.
CAVE STORY WAS LIKE HIS 5th GAME AND HE WORKED WITH COMPUTERS BY TRADE YOU DUMB FUCKING MORON
KERO BLASTER IS A DIRECT IMPROVEMENT IN EVERY WAY ANYWAYS

>which Cave Story didn't require since it was a one-man job.
He still worked with other people on it, anyways. He had a good number of beta testers.

It's a start.

Attached: thumbs up rockets.jpg (316x400, 19K)

That's what I thought, and then I started drawing porn. Now I have books and books of human anatomy because I want to draw soft looking butts and tiddies.

I don't what what success has to do with being good at drawing but ok. If you mean they're good artist are always born from other good artist is simply not true.
Monet's father was a grocer, Da Vinci's was a notery, Michelangelo's was a government agent and Van Gough's was a pastor. you're full of shit user.
You're one who's living in fantasy world where people are born automatically good at stuff without even trying.

I know, because I've spend the better part of my adult life studying drawing, and everything I've learnt is obtainable by literally anyone if they're willing to put in the time.
The people Who you think are just born with talent just simply put more time into it. you lazy fuck.

Haha no. Lots of successful artists come from poverty, just like lots of successful musicians come from poverty. There is such a thing as aptitude, but allowing it to control you to such an extent is purely cowardice. What are you, afraid to fail? If you wanted to learn to draw, or play music, or anything, you would do it. Not make excuses for yourself.

Literally all but one of his previous ""games"" were minigames.
>HE WORKED WITH COMPUTERS BY TRADE
So he's talented with computers too? lucky.
Come on, your mom could be a beta tester.
Your talent is making your opinion biased.
If you keep being this nice I'm bullying Akko.

people who are good at things get offended if you point out its talent because then they cant say theyre giga hardworkers who did everything themselves

>and everything I've learnt is obtainable by literally anyone if they're willing to put in the time.
The bold proclamation of someone who had the fortune to be born with talent and has no idea what it's like to practice and still suck.
It's like telling some tonedeaf motherfucker that they can be famous someday if they practice singing. It worked for you, right? Surely everyone has the vocal chords and capacity to sing in tune, right? Wrong, you smug bastard. A lot of people can be mediocre at a lot of things but only a few can be truly good.

Attached: 3FC65D36-51E0-46F5-B4E6-FE3B0B78991D.png (533x866, 488K)

>look up twitter
>its the opposite

>not only the style degraded but only knows how to make one pose

Attached: hella.jpg (852x1200, 168K)

I'd rather not try than face the inevitable: mediocrity.
Besides, there's still a lot of vidya I want to play. Might as well spend my time on that.
Your mind has been clouded by optimist propaganda.
Never has a post been more deserving of the word redpilled than now.

And your laziness is making you biased.

>Literally all but one of his previous ""games"" were minigames.
Nice goalpost moving, you stupid fuck. Ikachan existed and was a shorter Cave Story. Cave Story itself is relatively simplistic, and the previous games Pixel made still gave him plenty of practice with the programming side of things, you stupid shit.
>So he's talented with computers too? lucky
No, he studied and went into a trade that has skills applicable in other fields.
"Talent" is a fucking meme.

I tried and failed.
You tried and succeded.
What was the difference? It begins and ends with T.

That makes me wonder what other JP artists are there who draw in a more western cartoon aesthetic

t. tried for an hour at most and gave up immediately when he didn't see instant results
i bet you don't even apply yourself to games either you

Attached: 1557796349776.png (1182x1139, 181K)

There is no optimist propaganda. I've seen awful artists go to good one, I've been an awful musician and now people refuse to stop praising me even though I feel I am plainly mediocre. It's not because I have an insane aptitude for it, I've played with people who do and you can tell, it's because I've been playing for over 15 years and I keep playing, I keep trying to improve.
Those examples of people who just CAN'T seem to improve? They aren't able to improve because they don't know how to improve. Improving yourself is hard, it takes effort, it takes knowledge of how to improve, it takes a critical look at your own skill.
But if you want to play videogames that is fine, you can improve in videogames too, if you want to. If you don't want to improve and just play them? That's also fine. But don't whinge and whine about "Talent", aptitude exists, it doesn't stop anyone though.

Can we include remasters? If so, Doom 3 BFG edition.

Attached: 465756756.png (1059x1071, 2.74M)

Reminder: Pixel has been quoted as saying he has absolutely no musical background and all the music in Cave Story was him fucking around in his music sequencer, which he also single-handedly programmed and created, until it "sounded good". But I'm sure that wasn't somehow a result of natural talent either, right?

Kind of, anyway

Attached: 1489820095038.png (640x265, 65K)

talent isnt being magically automatically good retard its how deeply and how efficiently you can learn
a talented person will have a higher skill ceiling and reach it faster than a normalfag

>But I'm sure that wasn't somehow a result of natural talent either, right?
No, it wasn't. Have you listened and genuinely tried breaking down Cave Story's music? It's simplistic as fuck when you actually look and analyze it, and that's not even mentioning that CS's development started in 2001 or so and even the music went through pretty heavy revision.
youtu.be/yz9wV4fsjO8
youtu.be/aHtWKbR_P-c
Gives enough time and patience, it's not hard at all to fuck around with music until it "sounds good". Gives more time and patience, especially the span of multiple years, it's not hard at all to make something pretty fucking decent. Once again, Cave Story is also NOT the first game pixel has made, nor the first one he composed for, either, so he had already had fucking PRACTICE and EXPERIENCE.

I'm so sick of cal arts cancer

At some point I think talent is a measurement for the ability to learn. How fast your neurons form connections. It takes about a year or two to master basics like proportions and perspective. BUT if you lost genetic lottery 10 years wouldn't be enough. Look around there are always people who need to look how to do thing 1-2 times and they can repeat it flawlessly. And there are people who need to be supervised all the time because they just can't learn.
t. tried to learn how to draw, how to play guitar, how to code, how to make 3d, skating, skiing and wood carving in the past 10 years.
The thing is, accept that you can't compete and can't improve further and start annoying what you do. I was depressed that nobody likes my art and nobody donates but dismissed that cuckery and started enjoying my art because that is what I LIKE to do, and now what THEY ASK me to do. Sure thing, you might get lucky and become famous one day, except that would be your 80th birthday, so fuck it. Enjoy what you do.

You retard, where did I say that. You can tell when someone has a high aptitude for something if you are also skilled at that thing by the way they act about that thing, the way they talk about it and take in information. Someone with high aptitude might get better faster but that's usually because they will ENJOY that thing, they will fill their life with it. You know what how deeply and efficiently you can learn is also called? Intelligence. You can acquire intelligence in something by Learning and Practising.

The new style looks like vector art. The old style had bad anatomy and shaky line work but it was, indeed, hand-drawn. It has personality and you can tell a human being, albeit a complete amateur, made it and tried.
It has soul

He even sells his own key chains why aren't you

Attached: image.jpg (751x1024, 115K)

>not liking vector art

Attached: Character_OshareBones_PuyoPuyoFever2.png (254x461, 22K)

*start loving

nah it's the pose user
it's far too stiff

You want to talk about art? I saw this at my college the other day, interpret this shit

Attached: 20190920_135153.jpg (4032x3024, 3.16M)

>it's not talent they just tried really hard like me and they're such hard workers just like me!
>what? you tried and failed? guess you're not a hard worker then, like me, im such a hard worker
>You can acquire intelligence
lmao

Attached: 1569124409508.jpg (944x749, 75K)

needs loomis

i interpret some strange necks

>t. tried to learn how to draw, how to play guitar, how to code, how to make 3d, skating, skiing and wood carving in the past 10 years.
You tried all those things and gave up too fast you fucking idiot. The only kind of "talent" out there is who had the bright idea to start something and stick with it early on. You're a dabbler; you dabble in things, never giving them the years of dedication someone needs to give to actually be proficient.

>Both of them have been practicing for ages, yet they still suck and will always suck.
They've been making things for ages, but there's no introspection or attempts to improve. CWC thinks his art is fine, and thus he's never tried changing anything about it. Evaxephon barely even makes anything; he writes (not good) code, but basically ALL the other assets he gets are gifted to him from volunteers or bought from an asset store. I feel bad for everyone working on Yandere Simulator besides Eva, because they aren't getting paid and could be using their talents for literally anything else, whether that be more passion-driven volunteering or something professional.

Basically user, you just need a better outlook than them and to strive to improve with everything you do. Don't be afraid to fail, but do look at what you've done if and when you fail and learn from it.

>remake
>worse than the original
Kaede's hair is actually fluffy in the second picture and the eyes are the correct shades. Also improved the drunken dork attributes, because she gets dumb and makes stupid jokes when she's drunk. Only thing incorrect that the first version got right was the white shorts.
So, no, it got better.

>Both of them have been practicing for ages
Neither of them practice. Eva spends all his days reading emails, streaming games and making videos to justify his opinions. Chris took a fucking major break between drawing issues of Sonichu and has seemingly never tried to improve.

Remake was 100% soul. LA on Switch arguably had more soul than the original.

Black Louisiana culture

>using cwc as an example
chris is a literal retard who thinks his art is perfect already
he doesn't improve because he doesn't make an effort to
he's just drawing the same thing over and over

Hey, you know how you are smarter, think more clearly, have more intelligent thoughts in general than when you were like 10?
Looks like. That education. it made you more intelligent. Oh shit.
Perhaps if I used this education, learning and practise thing on other disciplines, it would make me (musically, artistically, etc) intelligent?
Nah. Can't be, it must all be a badly defined, nebulous thing that I can blame all my failed attempts on. It must be TALENT. That accursed thing that only the lucky get. They definitely didn't spend a huge amount of their time doing something they love, which happens to have also improved their skills in it if they were trying to improve!

Did they delete their account? I can't find anything by them now.

You want the truth of it? It's supposed to be a mix of Oaxacan(Mexican) shit and Texas shit, as painted by a Japanese exchange student. The notable standouts are the man with the fish swimming up his ass, the Corona, the crocodile with tits, and the baby with the over pronounced ass

Adding to that, it's referencing a lot of old black stories/fairy tales and has some references to vodoun/voodoo

That does look much nicer, I apologize for implicitly shitting on vector art in general.

I continued to do other hobbies while learned new ones, like guitar and drawing the ones I never stopped doing for 10 years. I couldn't improve above some level and stuck there for ages but hey, that's the activity that makes me happy. You never find out if you don't try other.

Weird, because I see black shit in there too lmao

That baby has some nice cheeks.

FISH'D

Attached: FISH.png (349x137, 115K)

You certain it's not just abo """"""art""""""?

I'm trying to learn how to draw, how does avoid that? Stay with pencil and paper for as long as possible?

these both look good imo

Okay, here's a deal faggot.
I, for the following 15 years (starting right now), will practice programming in the C language. Every single fucking day.
If I don't improve, I will make a thread exactly at 5 AM on September 21st 2034 on Yea Forums calling you a retarded lying piece of shit. This will provide FINAL AND ULTIMATE proof that talent doesn't exist. Then you will procede to off yourself.
NOW SCREENCAP THIS.

Positive, this is in southern Texas. They're supposed to be descendants of Mayans or Aztecs or something

you can't increase your IQ retard, saying talent is intelligence is objectively proving my point
being good at things and seeing themself improve is what helps them enjoy it, people who suck shit feel bad for sucking shit. every so often you get an autistic who likes trying despite every attempt being awful, like CWC

and its not badly defined. the only way talent can't exist is if every single person in existence has an equal brain, which obviously isn't real

also
>a huge amount of their time
talented people see results within a few weeks

Vector opens a plantation with his Sonic Heroes royalties

>what? you tried and failed? guess you're not a hard worker then
Not him and I'm not going to pretend some people don't have a natural knack for specific tasks, or that trying to compete with people who have that knack when it's apparent you don't isn't soul-crushing (almost dropped out of my engineering degree upon realizing I didn't), but the thing about failing is you can get back up again and learn what went wrong. You can assess your errors, change your way of thinking so you can approach the situation better next time, and in time, if you don't give up, you will develop adequate skills.
I don't think everyone can be the best and that talent does play a factor, but anybody can be good, and good can be good enough.

it's interesting, I'll say that

Talented people do not see results in a few weeks. No-one does, otherwise the "talented" would be able to pick up a violin and not have it sound like a cat dying instantly, but we have dedicated violin teaching program methods that train people to be good at violin for a reason. And you can raise your IQ, you can practice the test that measures your IQ. People literally have done that.

Fucking done.
See you in 15 years when you've realized I was right, you stupid fuck. I sincerely hope you make some very neat shit once you've gotten the basics done and grinded through whatever tutorials and resources you find.

You know the most interesting part? It was painted in 2011. EIGHT fucking years this thing has sat right outside the theatre

>talented people see results within a few weeks
Literally untrue. Some people learn faster than others but to master anything takes about ten thousand hours, no matter how "natural" you feel performing a task starting out. Think about musical virtuosos; at one point they were an eight year old kid trying to just learn basic scales, and it took them decades of practice to get to where they are.

that's the exact fucking reason given why IQ tests are only accurate on the first time testing
again retard, talent isn't magically being the best the first time you try. it's being naturally good at learning, that's why some people will get impressive results training to be good at instruments within a few weeks as i said, and others learn worse and slower

the ten thousand hour shit is a meme. it's a meme phrase by definition
