So I'm finally sitting down and trying to play through all the Ninja Gaiden games. (Not the NES ones as of right now) tips? Also Ninja Gaiden thread I guess. I miss action games like this and it's really hitting the spot for me, just beat the fire horse guy.

I was just gonna lurk her to help make up my mind about getting the PS3 games or not.
get sigma one, its different from the original xbox game but not enough for it to be a deal breaker, plus it gets a subjectively nice visual upgrade. skip sigma 2 its got nerfed gore and less enemies than the 360 version.
Dude I'm playing them on PSNow they have all of them and I've not had any issues with any lag or anything at all.
I don't really care about the nerfed gore if the core gameplay is still good, and I'm too shit to worry about the higher difficulties.
I don't like the Rachel segments, so I suggest getting Gaiden Black.
how bad are they?
sekiro and shinobi are both better
Shinobi is pretty good. I've not played Sekiro yet
Get used to the guillotine throw, double tap X+A, requires some positioning. It's the fastest i-frames in the game and a knockdown if the enemy hits a wall.
The most efficient way to kill humanoid enemies is knockdown and finish off.
If you start charging the super right after you land after a jump you skip out the wind up animation. On land state is useful in Ninja Gaiden, check out your other options out of it as well.
You can cancel out of moves with shurikens. Useful for canceling out of unsafe moves and juggling.
You probably figured out already that jump > dash > repeat is your top speed.
Note that you won't consume essence while you are holding block. You can stack essence for supers this way.
Sekiro is great, but I really don't think that Shinobi is that good of a game.

Problem is Sigma 2 doesn't play like this.

Op, use shurikens while you are jumping around. Very useful for both locating and staggering your next target. Shurikens and wind path (when you jump on them) are very good for opening up enemies.
Ninja Gaiden is not about mashing buttons or original combos. This game only has like 3 or 4 different canned combos per weapon and that's it. The proper way to play it is by linking ultimate attacks and you do so by absorbing the orbs. so you can do it instantly instead of having to wait for it to charge... Also when you kill an enemy with ultimate attacks you get more orbs than by doing so with normal attacks.
When you think about it there isn't much variety in this game. You'll either be spamming isuna drops, since it is the strongest combo, or spamming utimates.
There is a lot more overpowered tech in these games, you just never bothered to explore it. Game punishes UT spam by reducing the amount of points you get out of repeated UTs, but sure chaining UTs is a viable option. Izuna will get punished if you land in the middle of a crowd.
NG2 fixes that by introducing OTs and delimbing. Most of your moves have great delimb rates, and once the enemy is delimbed, it's up for the Obliteration Technique. This makes everything viable.
shinobi the ps2 game?
Is Sekiro actually a decent action game in the vein as NG2 and Shinobi?
I always figured people were just nutting because From Soft finally made a game with -almost good- combat instead of -kind of bad- and they'd never played a decent action game
...
yes
So what I'm gathering is I need to use the charge attack more for humanoid enemies?
What makes Shinobi so good?
I think I have a copy I've never played.
Also does this take place in the DOA universe?
It's like a 3d version of your typical arcade 2d action game.
Fast-paced, very simple to understand, extremely hard but fair, lots of room for mastery.
It's a nice little game
fuck man, my backlog is already overloaded
I'll have to give it a look, thanks man
Sekiro is great. I wouldn't call it a Souls game, its gameplay is very different. Pay attention to the tutorials, it's all about deflecting, the block button is very strong in Sekiro. It also rewards aggression, it's a very engaging action game once you are comfortable with the combat sytem.
Flying swallow!
Humanoid enemies are easier to open up with shurikens, so you can use anything. Check out XXY, it's a good combo.
Sigma's supposed to run fine on rpcs3, just fyi for anyone reading
be wary of chests on higher than normal difficulties
Fuck that specific ch3 one on very hard
I keep getting my fucking ass handed to me on chapter 3 in the room with all the white special forces dudes near the beginning after you get the keycard
You playing standard Xbox NG or Black? Black is the definitive version
I'm playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma on PlayStation Now.
