Never played pic related? does it up hold up today?
Never played pic related? does it up hold up today?
Yeah sure why not
You have to be 18 years old to post here
be nice
I liked the original more
i was too busy shagging your mom to play video games back when you were a kid
So you're 50 years old and you're still on this shithole, and you've still never played a resi game?
I've played it not long ago... and it's awesome. Absolutely awesome. I've played the original and the PC one.
You really should playthe original with a CRT, because the colors make the mood a little bit different.
I hate CAPCOM for having lost the original assets, so they had to upscale the backgrounds and it doesn't look the same. Still, even the PC version, is awesome.
nah bro i only played nemesis on the ps1, 4-7 and then Re2make. made me wanna play the classics.
should i get the ps4 version or run the gamecube one on my pc emulator
This, the original version is a classic way better than the remake. Get your PS1, the original uncensored Japanese disc and have yourself a blast
Hell yeah it holds up, it's better than the classic ps1 version.
>best horror game ever made
>does it hold up
The HD remaster fucks up a lot of backgrounds, some music is sped up at times (probably a framerate issue), it looks washed out, shadows aren't placed properly in lightning, etc.
Many issues. I suggest emulating unless you want the extra costumes and Very Easy
The remaster is janked up of course.
>retard contrarian
i SURE hope it isnt CHRIS' BLOOD
>retard contrarian
no, it was just more fun
currently emulating the og re-2. the tank controls are a bit hard to get used to again but its fun, reminds me of dino crisis games i played a long time ago. the gamecube version is downloading as we speak
>emulating
Being an Emunigger should be a bannable offence. Keep this cucked casual shit on Reddit
it's not even scary
my ps1 and ps2 broke bro
>best horror game ever made
uh.... user?
I'm the first guy you responded to, I never said he should emulate. I honestly don't get why he's emulating, you can buy a Wii and an SD card for like $20 and play any GCN game you want.
Of you can wrap your head around “Up=Forward”, you’ll like it. Tank controls are the ultimate pleb filter.
yea it owns lol
REmake is better in every way with the exception of music.
So take better care of your shit, I've literally never had a game break on me in my entire life.
Why would you play this on the Wii?
Emulation has its own graphical issues, and there are AI background mods that fix the ugly ones.
Yes, it's the best game of all time.
you need to start respecting jill
I disagree
I wonder when people will stop pretending they played Dino Crisis, because if they did they'd know it's a very boring and tedious game.
Dino Crisis 2 was infinitely better, the first game was pretty mediocre.
yeah i should beat the shit out of my nephews and nieces for trashing my old video games
>REmake is the greatest remake of a video game.
Was he right?
>worse VA
>worse atmosphere
>dumber AI
>less dynamic events (read: none)
>less routes to take
>ugly models
yes, much more fun - you're right wow how could i be so wrong
if anything, deadly silence is the only acceptable version of OG RE1 and even then its a huge stretch
You should kill yourself for not being careful with your shit, I've let 6 year olds play my super Famicom and nothing bad happened to it because I'm not a dumb paki who's family are literally wild animals
I'm sorry you have ADHD user
only thing original was better is the very hard difficulty mode (remake didnt have it) and the music. i am not even sure how would anyone prefer the original outside of being a contrarian.
>I'm sorry you have ADHD user
Nonsensical.
Are we seriously pretending this isn't the best RE track?
youtube.com
I mean, you're already wrong enough but
>less routes to take
?????
have you played RE1 or are you just being retarded
the REmake just felt dull, looked bleak, and had really bad sound direction
imagine being an RE game with mediocre gun sounds
Yes
It's really good, played it with some friends a while back. I'm sure there's some reason to play the original instead but the remaster is great too.
What else even comes close? Crash? Maybe FF7 remake if it's good?
one of us isn't capable of paying attention to dino crisis, user
honestly not even the best save theme, user
CVX has it beat hands down
will do bro
Zero Mission is definitely up there. I wouldn't say it's as good as REmake, though.
I'm playing this for the first time and I thought because I knew the original like the back of my hand I would kick the game's ass. I died like four times in the first half hour and it took me 5 hours to leave the mansion part.
It's great, man. Just amazing.
Does SoTC count? That's the only one I can think of, but still REmake is better. Damn shame they fucked up with REmake 2.
that's one of the cool things about REmake
it's genuinely a better game if you played RE1 first
still like RE1 better though
>one of us isn't capable of paying attention to dino crisis, user
Except I've completed Dino Crisis. So your nonsensical reply is still that.
>the REmake just felt dull, looked bleak,
Confirmed retard.
>and had really bad sound direction
imagine being an RE game with mediocre gun sounds
Imagine reaching so much that your main dish of criticism is the gun sounds. Imagine saying something is worse because you didn't like a particular sound, everything else is much better.
I got the REmake for PS4 when it was dirt cheap and it plays flawlessly
look, user, I'm sorry I don't like your favorite game as much as you do but you don't have to be autistic about it
>All these zoomers ITT
Fuck this, I'm out
it has the best character in the series
where is this from
Ada isn't in it
Based.
it sure does, user
I like that you have the audacity to call someone else autistic when your main complaint about not liking a game is the gunshot sounds. Thanks for the laugh.
Google it
What do you do, Yea Forums?
why is she so perfect bros
It's really, really good. When it was free on PS4 I unironically thought it was a new game and had no idea it game out for the fucking gamecube.
Chris?
Give the cock to Ada
It's one of the best examples of a truly timeless game.
there's a lot more reasons I prefer 1 over REmake but sure ignore 80% of what I said and go right to the end
the entire sound design is just not very good, nothing has the same feel and weight as the PS1 REs, the guns sound awful, the zombie sound effects are kinda lame, I genuinely don't recall any music playing in the background half the time, the enemies felt like they didn't respond to gunshots nearly as good as the PS1 REs, every memory I have of it feels like it played at half speed because of how slow it felt, and what it did offer over the original wasn't really much
barry can always be trusted
he just wants to protect his kids and probably clean guns, what a standup guy
yea. she really steals the show in chris's campaign
listen, user, if you're gonna post this at least post something fun like ada getting WOOFED
>at least post Becca
ftfy
The original Gamecube release is great, but the HD remaster ruins the visuals pretty badly
>he enemies felt like they didn't respond to gunshots nearly as good as the PS1 REs
Except this is a good thing so you don't stunlock zombies, it makes them an actual threat because they're always advancing.
>every memory I have of it feels like it played at half speed because of how slow it felt,
It's around the same speed of RE1 and most of the classics, are you sure you actually played REmake?
we can make the best of both worlds here
rebecca and ada, user
it'll work
If I want to play OG RE1 with its original OST, what version do I need to get?
This here. Dino Crisis is boring as hell. Every other encounter is a one hit kill. All the environments are grey and bland labs/industrial. Every puzzle is a keycard rewrite. Zzz.
Since this is an RE newfag thread, I'll post a work in progress.
Ignore how this is WORDSWORDSWORDS so far, this is the just the in progress version, but if you don't have ADD, you should be able to get through this.
Will be smaller.
Also, I know REv2 came out after 6
She had such a good voice in the remake. It's weird how her RE0 voice actress was entirely different and worse.
Gun sound is bad in REmake? Holy shit, you are retarded and deaf, RE1 had water guns and RE2r was just as bad. REmake berettas were perfect, and I actually heard a blank indoors, shotguns and revolvers were fucking cannons.
Not even close, there are so many better tracks.
>Portrait Puzzle Solved (RE1)
>Save Room (RE1 Dualshock)
>Main Hall (Original and Dualshock)
>Still Dawn (RE1)
>any Malformation of G track (RE2)
>Credit Line of Whole Staff (RE2)
>...And After That (RE2)
>Save Room (RE3)
>Save Room (CVX)
>Any Alexia or Bercusia track (CVX)
>Winds of Madness (RE5)
>Super Tyrant (REmake 2)
>Malformation of G 3 (REmake 2)
REmake Magnum >
>how do I play RE
>some weird order
just play them in release order yo
user I own and shoot guns
I can tell you that the sound effects for guns in REmake sucked
if you REALLY want to play OG RE1 with the original OST, without any fuckery(or upgrades) involved, try the non-dualshock director's cut version
but if you want probably the BEST RE1 experience at the cost of shittier backgrounds, deadly silence is your best bet because you can fondle rebecca and jill's tits and ass with the stylus
and chris too but only his butt and hair
that's uh
that's something but yeah
Is Julia /ourgirl/?
>just play them in release order yo
That's what the top of the image says. If you want just the mainline games, go in release order, don't skip any of them. You have no excuse if you have a PS3 + PS4 or a PC. You can get basically the entire series on both.
>non-dualshock director's cut version
I bought that version on PSN but it still had the weird distorted trumpet OST.
0 and 6 are definitely skippable.
Here's a list of RE1 releases and their differences
>Resident Evil (Longbox/Jewel Case)
Original release, in North America it has no auto aim and it has the censored cutscenes (just the opening and Richard's decapitation at the start). In Japan it also has the censored cutscenes, but the cast call has "I got a shotgun", which is one of the best tracks in the who series.
>Resident Evil Director's Cut
Avoid the Dualshock version of this, as that has the changed soundtrack. Dualshock has a zombie on the cover, DC original has a dude holding a gun on the cover, and usually comes with a second disc (a demo for RE2).
It adds Arranged Mode, which completely changes how you replay the game in terms of level progression.
>Director's Cut Dualshock
The one you want to avoid. This is also the one being sold on PSN.
>Saturn
Most expensive release in North America, at around $100. Doesn't have Arranged Mode, but I believe the Japanese release has some uncensored cutscenes, in addition to the first iteration of RE's Battle Game (which has cameos from the Gold Tyrant and Zombie Wesker) and on Chris' campaign, you get a surprise during the final/almost final boss.
>Deadly Silence
DS port, adds a gimmick mode, but the original mode is the original RE. The opening is still censored but it has Richard's decapitation.
>PC
Completely uncensored, but good luck running it.
0 yes, 6 no. I am convinced Jake will come back in some form and it is technically an extension of Chris' character arc in 5 and completes it by the end.
Leon and Ada's campaigns are skippable though.
Been thinking of playing this for the first time. I've previously played RE7, RE4, and RE2make. I like them all.
I have
>Okami
>REmake
>Xenoblade 2
in my backlog, and I'm not sure which one I should do first.
well, it's the dualshock one that has the changed music
but people say the different music is 100% shit but that's absolutely false, some of it is pretty great
but the boss themes are all genuinely hilariously bad
deadly silence is more than just a ds port with a gimmick mode
it's got quickturn, a dedicated knife button+knife no longer tapes up inventory, the ability to touch jill's tits and ass with the stylus, a DS-oriented gimmick mode, multiplayer(which probably isn't relevant), and some new alt costumes
unfortunately it doesn't have arranged mode but rebirth mode is a little bit like it
REmake is by far and away the best of the three games there.
I love Claire.
claire
One thing I dont understand is why the FUCK is the steam version 20 gigs???
Isnt it just a bunch of pictures with 3d models walking over them?
based
The original version's better. It reminds me of the Terminator 1 soundtrack.
My super controversial take is that it is a good game, but kind of a bad horror game.
>recommends Revelations 2 while discouraging Revelations 1
>recommends playing RE 6 period
Shit fucking post. Revelations 2 was a steaming pile of turd compared to 1. The story made no fucking sense, the final boss was pants on head retarded, and the pacing was all over the place. You want to give someone an aneurysm, tell them to play that game on the highest setting. Oh and
>beat invisible enemy mode on highest difficulty to unlock a katana for Moira, the most insufferable character in the game
End yourself for even mentioning Revelations 2. Fuck you, fuck your mother, fuck your forebears. A plague on all of your houses.
>mfw I discovered the mod that replaces the REmake music with the original RE1 music, along with the HD background mod.
who the fuck cares about the music, why haven't you installed the original voice acting mod?
>Shit fucking post. Revelations 2 was a steaming pile of turd compared to 1
REv2 was short and had a story that will probably actually matter down the line thanks to that cliffhanger. REv1 is inconsequential and a fucking chore for most of its run.
>The story made no fucking sense,
Alex Wesker from RE5 is continuing the research Ozwell left for her and Albert, that being to make some sort of immortality virus. Alex managed to keep her research on the downlow, and decided to kidnap TerraSave as test subjects for her t-Phobos strain.
Using t-Phobos, she infects Natalia expecting her consciousness to override Natalia's, but it doesn't (or so she thought).
One of the TerraSave higher ups betrayed everybody to Alex so he could get a strain of Urorborus to revive the FBC, that's a subplot though and is purely there probably to throw shade at how dumb the FBC's plan in REv1 was.
>End yourself for even mentioning Revelations 2. Fuck you, fuck your mother, fuck your forebears. A plague on all of your houses.
You sound upset.
That sounds delightful.
RE4 has the best save room theme BY FAR
youtube.com
HOW IS THE STORY CONSEQUENTIAL WHEN IT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE AND IS BARELY THERE? THE GAME BARELY EVEN EXPLAINS THE PHOBOS VIRUS AND THE ENDING IS JUST NONSENSICAL
Also, caring that much for story over gameplay is cancer. Revelations 1 > Revelations 2. Don't ever call yourself an RE fan buddy
honestly a terrible opinion lad
this, i wish REmake1 came with classic and non american music and sounds unlock, like REmake2 did
REmake2 sucks but it was so fucking kino with the classic sound effects
Claire is lovely
1. REmake
2. RE4
3. REmake 2
4. RE7
5. Outbreak
Is REmake 2 really THAT bad?
The final boss in Revelations 2 is the equivalent to the most annoying sound in the world. It is grating on every conceivable level, both physical and mental. It shakes you to your very core. The entire game is a clusterfuck of rushed ideas, poor balancing, atrocious writing, nonexistent development and exposition, and horrendous gameplay segments that are so fucking agonizing, that I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to start up the game for the first time.
A bunch of really high resolution pictures, with 3d models with really high resolution textures, walking over them with uncompressed audio for their footsteps, as a very long uncompressed audio file plays in the background.
No, they only fucked up by not having proper A/B scenarios.
No, it's easily GOTY
>HOW IS THE STORY CONSEQUENTIAL WHEN IT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE AND IS BARELY THERE? THE GAME BARELY EVEN EXPLAINS THE PHOBOS VIRUS AND THE ENDING IS JUST NONSENSICAL
Because Alex's consciousness took over Natalia, meaning she won.
If you were paying attention to the load screens and files, you'd notice Alex's obsession with Franz Kafka, and guess what, at the end of the game, Natalia is reading Franz Kafka and she's smirking. The bad ending also directly shows her being taken over, and the extra episode centered around Natalia shows Alex's consciousness leading her along.
So, at the end of REv2, Alex Wesker is still around, and her character is important enough to be the catalyst of Heavenly Island, the third RE manga. She will be coming back in either REv3 or RE8.
>Also, caring that much for story over gameplay is cancer.
Their gameplay is basically the same except REv2 added a reason for having some guy just follow you around.
>Don't ever call yourself an RE fan buddy
I'm willing to be you had no idea who Alex Wesker was pre-REv2.
this. a remake of a 19 year old game is the most fun I've had with games since The Witcher 3. Kind of sad when you think about it.
no it's a good game its just they stopped fanwanking me after the RPD, where all their effort went
sewer was just some linear tunnel and the lab was some gay sci fi futuristic thing instead of a 90's vibe secret grimy industrial thing like the original one had
plus the linearity of three bridges in order connecting to tiny areas really fucking sucked
and they ruined the tyrant too
and the lack of decent scenario b which instead just changed your start location and default gun
in the same way re5, re6 and re7 are perfectly fucking playable games you can have fun with, but are shit entries to the series regardless
but my time has passed and if the current generation wanna eat that shit up in droves then i can't really stop capcom for pandering towards them, i guess
>look up the files and loading screens
the fact that this is your defense for such shit writing has me wondering if you thought the writing in FFXIII was on any acceptable level. If I have to read through FILES in a game that should SHOW the story, rather than force the player to read a bunch of lore dumps, then the writers fucked up, YOU fucked up, and you should both promptly kill yourselves for having such shit taste.
>What is Sekiro
REV 2 >>>>>>>>>>> REV 1. Eat shit.
it was easily forgotten about after the abortion that was the free "survivor stories" DLC or whatever the fuck that was
fucking purple eyed explosive zombies and fucking gumball machines, it was clearly another shitty merc mode, only not even fun
Only three games managed to give me gamer PTSD throughout my life. The first was Ephemeral Phantasia. The second was Chaos Legion. The third was fucking Revelations 2.
>Dark Souls 8
AHAHAHAHAHA FAGGOT
>Sherry, come with me if you want to live
Holy based.
>it was easily forgotten about
Your preception =/= reality
nah you're a cunt. Face the facts, you don't have a leg to stand on
What gave you PTSD in Rev2? Nothing in that game seemed particularly difficult to me.
>the fact that this is your defense for such shit writing has me wondering if you thought the writing in FFXIII was on any acceptable level.
Files have always been a part of RE's storytelling. It's made pretty obvious in game that Natalia is not normal by the end anyways, where she has newspapers about Bioterror incidents all over her room and she's reading Kafka all menacingly.
> If I have to read through FILES in a game that should SHOW the story, rather than force the player to read a bunch of lore dumps, then the writers fucked up, YOU fucked up, and you should both promptly kill yourselves for having such shit taste.
You're the one who didn't get the ending. Did you play Silent Hill 1 and wonder what the fuck happened when it turned out Harry was dead and got mad when the game essentially told you to explore and read more to get a better ending?
I've got to respectfully disagree.
REmake >RE2>REmake 2>RE4>RE3>Revelations 2>RE7>RECVX>RE5>dog piss>RE6>dog shit>>>>>>>>Revelations
it was excellent, just a linear decline in level design and pacing after you leave the police station, but still solid all around
leagues ahead of the original, I mean jfc that game was an ugly mess
but you can switch control scheme in settings and control movement with a stick.
Not bad
derp
>defends Revelations 1
>condemns others for having shit taste.
nice autism, take your meds and go sperg on another board
For starters, going through the game on Survivor (if I remember that was the name of the highest difficulty) to unlock infinite ammo or some such, was nothing short of a trip through the 13th layer of hell. I want you to imagine the worst parts of any survivor horror game, or even JRPG. Take both aspects of this penultimate section (such as not enough ammo to barely get through a crucible of nonstop enemies that are impossible to avoid, either through linear level design or what have you), or maybe the section of a JRPG where it expects you to fight 6 bosses in a row without saving, and if you lose, you have to start the whole thing over again.
IMAGINE ALL OF IT. That is the entirety of RE Revelations on the higher difficulty setting. I have never been so thoroughly fed up and physically ill after trying to unlock infinite ammo in an RE game before. REmake you just had to speenrun. Same for RE 2, even if it was on the highest difficulty setting.
But the way Revelations 2 is set up, it's like a speedrun from Hellraiser. There was no rhyme or reason to any of the challenge or bullshit. It was just slapped together.
nice rebuttal. Fuck off zoomer faggot, adults are talking
the files in previous games were mere accentuation to the plot. They expanded on shit, nothing more. Jog your memory, because you're remembering things wrong
what game is this?
>do an arbitrary challenge the game doesn't force you to do
>shit on the game entirely because of that and act like a sperg whenever it's mentioned
Get help
Everything I mentioned in my plot summary can be figured out without reading any files, except for Franz Kafka, which is just an expansion on Alex's characterization.
Everything else is told to you either in the game's prequel, RE5 Lost in Nightmares, or the game itself. Literally every major plot beat is explained and you can easily figure out Alex took over Natalia without reading files and recognizing one of the most prolific writers of all time based simply on imagery and voice acting.
Deadly Premonition
It's very polarizing. On one hand, it looks like a lot of care was put into how everything is presented, while on the other there are a ton of problems in the gameplay that make it very frustrating.
>Features adaptive difficulty that makes the game harder if you're good at it, and easier if you're bad. Sounds good on paper, but in practice, like most every other game that features adaptive difficulty, it just becomes incredibly annoying. Zombies start needing more and more bullets, they start dealing a lot more damage to you, and they start stumbling around more and moving faster which makes it harder to hit them
>The only real differences between Leon and Claire's playthroughs are the characters you meet at certain points in the story, some routes being different due to each character getting a different key, and the circuit board answer
>A/B are the same as well, save for how it starts, what weapon you start with, the answers to the puzzles (circuit board included) and fighting another boss after refighting that character's final boss from A
I'm not even going to get into how the game's story contradicts itself constantly. The deepest I'll go is stating that the game expects you to believe both Leon and Claire are running around independent of each other and doing their own things, yet the game has them both do the exact same things in the exact same places.
Once the initial playthrough bliss is gone, you're left with a very fun, but heavily flawed and repetitive game. I easily put about 60 hours into it at launch playing through everything several times, and I've only come back to it now to see if my opinion changed. It didn't.
I'll finish my playthrough with Claire, then do one with Leon, then forget about this game for another year. If I remember it at all.
i see you've never played solo outbreak
now that's some real PTSD
>decisions decisions on V Hard
>both AI partners dead inside 15 minutes
>racing the clock to clear air tower and water treatment plant before virus counter runs out
>one hit from thanatos and you're locked into an infinite crawl loop
never again
forgot to add
>insta-death run across the pier
>RNG based puzzles
>being chased from room to room by stage 1 thanatos
>scenario over an hour long with zero checkpoints
people moved on faggot you should too, all we got from it was a shitty 4v1 game
don't be that faggot who plays REmake1 and 0 HD with the "alternate" control scheme
the game isnt' designed for that speed of turning and movement, you can literally do the entire game with the knife because of it, its basically fucking cheating
play it properly with tank controls, the enemies were designed around it perfectly to increase tension and claustrophobia
you fuckers have quick turn, lock on and more ammo than you could ever need as well as a difficulty mode that makes everything have 33% health while you get double ammo, what more do you fucking want
The game would have been stronger without A/B scenario stuff at all.
Nothing wrong with adaptive difficulty, RE4 is great.
>Crash is a good remaster
Fuck off. How did they manage to fuck up jumping in a game about jumping over bottomless pits?
revelations 2 wasn't even close to hard, you could run through that shit with no effort at all, and the S rank shit was extremely generous short of fucking dying
i remember not enjoying rev2 very much but i also remember not having an issue with 100%
>The game would have been stronger without A/B scenario stuff at all.
That's basically what happened. When you play the other character you can go through what's essentially arrange mode with altered enemy placement, items, and puzzles.
>Nothing wrong with adaptive difficulty
False.
If I wanted a hair-pulling challenge, I would have chosen "Hardcore" when I started my run. I chose "Standard" because while I don't want an easy time where enemies are made of slightly-warmed butter, I don't wanna be so frustrated I stop enjoying the game. I don't want to eventually be playing what is essentially the hardest difficulty just because the game decides I'm too good to play the game normally.
I'm a canon autist, so the fact that there's now four distinct scenarios that contradict one another makes me fucking crazy. Pretty much all they had to do was leave that one G fight and Annette out of the B scenario, and I would remain un-triggered. I would have been able to reason away the puzzle overlap as videogame logic, but the fact that Annette somehow manages to die twice makes me want to punch someone, considering they didn't have an oversight like this 21 fucking years ago.
How did they not catch this during development?
What was the meaning behind this song? I'll transcribe the lyrics for the lazy. Keep in mind this was in the RE2 Soundtrack CD and I don't believe it was used in game.

At the time this was made (presumably, 1998), Capcom was throwing tons of future ideas around. Blonde Jill, HCF Wesker, the concepts for RE4. Could this have been the first precursor of evil/clone Chris, which was scrapped from REv and RE7?
This, it is a very good game but it isn’t scary, is mostly the atmohphere that makes you be cautelous
I think it's that Annette didn't die when Claire and Sherry left, and she went back to make sure the G-Virus was destroyed and ran into Leon and G-Birkin (again).
It's still stupid, but that's some explanation, especially considering no matter what, Claire gets to the train first and nothing on the main level is breaking down when she leaves.
Absolute SONO. How do you describe the feeling you get when entering a save room for the first time?
Serene
resident evil has the deepest lore
Truly the deepest
>Never played pic related? does it up hold up today?
Yes, it holds up very well.. in fact, most classic RE games hold up extremely well. If you are interested in the original, go for Resident Evil DS. The HD remaster has some things that aren't 100% correct compare to the GameCube version, but it's still good for what it is. In short, the Original, Nintendo DS port, GameCube and HD versions are all great choices.
All jokes aside, RE lore was pretty good until CV jumped the shark and then 4 just nuked it all.
>If you are interested in the original, go for Resident Evil DS
I'd emulate RE:DC for the advanced/arrange mode. YMMV on the 3DS Rebirth mode
After playing for 8 hours you should have realized that Revelations 2 is nothing but a loose collection of shooty corridors with no story or coherence to speak of.
Still a fun game though.
6 > 5 > 2make > REmake > 7 > Rev2 > 4 > 2 > 3 > Rev > CV
I don''t think emulatd DS look very good. I bought a 3DSa just to play Resident Evil Deadly Silence and I think it was totally worth it. It's the best port of the original Resident Evil IMO
That's a good start but I think that word only applies every other time you enter the room when you know for certain that you're safe. The first time I entered a save room in this game I remember having low health, no herbs, and having absolutely no clue where to go next. I was glad to be in safety but to my young smooth brain that tranquility was fleeting and I was honestly more creeped out by my own imagination in that save room then I was of anything else wandering Spencer Mansion until that one zombie burst through that door from the balcony. I love this game so much.
This.
I'd rather feel disappointed by how easy the normal mode is and feel encouraged to try the harder mode, than to gradually be shifted onto that harder mode just because the game thinks I'm having too easy a time.
Based.
Anyone else find this game oddly comfy?
And what about that super spy emf scanner from Ada?
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING
I personally prefer the Director's Cut for advanced/arrange mode. The gameplay additions to Deadly Silence like quick reloading are nice though.
It was really enthralling despite being dumb. I'd argue even CV's lore additions were good, and the establishment of a Birkin having a rivalry within the company was a great way to build up Alexia (if you had Wesker's Report).
CVX only really jumped the shark in terms of presentation. The games that jumped the shark lore wise was 0 and 4. 0 was just fucking stupid, adding Marcus for no reason, a guy who was never mentioned in REmake, RE1 or CV at any point. And 4 jumped the shark for reasons we all know.
5 really brought it all back with Lost in Nightmares though, and REv2 thankfully continued the Project-W plot (along with Heavenly Island, which all lorefags should read).
6 was also good for Chris' character.
Sherry's cute in a best friend's younger sister whose panties you'll see lying on the floor after leaving his bathroom's shower that weren't there when you first entered and then you contemplate stealing kinda way
this is your new wife and daughter
I am pleased
Ya, I agree. It is missing the advanced/arrange mode. If it had that, I think it would be a truly complete version. No matter what, any classic RE is good RE
Claire is such a good mom.
What's wrong with Sherry?
no horror game is scary
The kush was too dank
>No matter what, any classic RE is good RE
that's bullshit, some of them sucked (RE0, CVX)
Ahem.
>that's bullshit, some of them sucked (RE0, CVX)
I would take a RE 0 and Code Veronica X over Operation Raccoon City, RE6, Umbrella Corps any day.
In all fairness I just went back and replayed Code Veronica X. It's really not horrible besides the voice acting and Steve. RE 0 on the other hand is only truly good for one play through. Having no item box just kills it for me. Still better games than the other ones I listed.
I dont get why everybody thinks barry is so cool. He's a fuckin asshole and a traitor too.
Umbrella Corps is, no hyperbole, one of the worst games ever made.
I was shitting my dick off playing Silent Hill 1 and 2 for the first time and that was like 2 years ago. How are there no scary horror games?
No it's not
Not him, but its an extremely stupid and useless cash grab. I am not sure how it even passed quality control. Remember, it got the green list be Capcom to be made. I don't care who internally made it
It definitely is.
how the fuck does it take almost 19 hours???
Sometimes people like to take their time on the first play through. I'm not a causal gamer, but my first play through on RE 2 remake was around 19 hours. I wanted to stop and look at everything, since I am a huge RE fan boy. Now, I can beat the game in 2 hours or less. I don't find it a big deal at all. I am sure she doesn't play a lot of video games as well
maybe she was admiring herself in-game?
I find it funny that she didn't really get depressed that her parents are dead. She immediately wanted Leon and Claire to adopt her.
why of all games did waifufags have to cling to RE2, Claire's a god damned butterface and there's more porn mods of her than anything else
>a badass
a child rapist
not scary
Sherry's the rapist here, getting all handsy
i love Resident Evil 2: Temake and Claire Redfield!!!
sherry is innocent
she would never make the first move, slowly luring an older woman into her tiny little hands, making more and more moves until she can use claire's ass as a cereal bowl
no way fag
not a chance fancypants
PAL directors cut. It offers advanced mode.
I understand and respect this opinion even tho i dont share it
the real fucking retards are the ones that say you can skip re1 (or re2 now) because of the remakes
Such people should be stoned to death Insh'Allah
>If you are interested in the original, go for Resident Evil DS
Except its brokenly nerfed difficulty
>outbreak
meme game for a person with meme opinions
While that is true, I think they did this with good intentions. It isn't that much easier though, maybe like a 10% or so nerf. I believe it happened since it was a handheld game. The Rebirth mode is hard (more enemies and a mini game), but also has more ammo. I am okay with this trade off. Plus, the added quick turn and knife auto assigned to a button is just amazing. IMO, it's the definitive version
For me it was the knife. It didn't take up inven space, it was mapped to the left trigger so it was just always there and it was OP as fuck. You end up doing the RE4 thing
>shoot them a couple of times
>down the enemy
>knife em till death
It just cut out the menu for convenience. Everyone was already doing this anyway, right? It's a win, win IMO
No you missed the part where the knife didn't take up a space. That isn't insignificant. Does it in classic mode too.
I didn't miss the point, I just don't find it a big deal. If you don't want to use the knife, don't use it and make it harder on yourself. It's not breaking the game or anything.
Anyway its more about the novelty. And the remade models aren't bad. They made Jill's even BIGGER than the OG but they also made it look like she isn't wearing a bra anymore. Proper torpedo slopes.
For comparison. I like OGs tits better.
Fair enough. I think people don't give enough credit to RE DS or the superior models
>worse VA
so bad it's good
>worse atmosphere
subjective; moving the game into a literal spooky haunted house was dumb as fuck
>dumber AI
exact same AI; the enemies have a few more moves in the remake
>ugly models
soul
She spent half the time looking at extremely delayed chat when asking what to do waiting for answers.
soul
the fuck is wrong with thier arms? are they made of taffy?
I think it's just the CGI model and lighting. Not sure myself
this is claire and ada's face models for remake 2. say something nice about the
I have lots of RE pictures / art work. Want me to post more? I feel like giving up and just drinking a beer
I'd agree the game did a bad job of it (I'd also say Battle Garegga did as well but dont tell shmups forum that) but Resident Evil 4 did it brilliant and not all shmups fuck up rank.
>FF7
Disqualified from the get go
My biggest suprise was that they stayed true to Jill's "bun & bangs" hairstyle rather than trying to retcon it to the RE3 bob as usual. The only game to ever aknowldge her OG hair was MvsC 2. I used to think she simply shaved the back of her head like a punk but left her bangs long, as a kid that made her seem like the raddest bitch on the planet.
Outbreak literally made me buy a PS2 eventhough I was already playing on Xbox Live. Pretty sure I clocked more hours on the two Outbreak titles as well.
What is this thing that Ada has big tits now? It really bothered me in REmake, she's massive. And they bounce.
> not posting superior basketball outfit
pathethic.jpg
Ya I agree. Classic Jill is best Jill. Nothing beats that character design
Ada's tits are petty modest man
Yeah but they shouldn't appear bigger than Claire's which they.... kind of do and kind of dont?? Claire isn't Jill tier but she's bigger than Ada. It was also a total cop out to give Ada jiggle physics but not Claire.
I never even noticed Ada's jiggle physics to be honest and I beat the game several times. I am a-okay with boobies
isnt it alittle smug to wear a shirt of yourself?
Bands do this shit all the time. meh
Resident Evil does, RE Zero does not, the item management in 0 is retarded, annoying and boring.
Unfortunately i cannot find a single gif to back it up but she absolutely does bounce, while Claire does not. Its odd.
beautiful dress, she's always so stylish.
Jill really was wearing absurd clothes during RE3. All that beautiful white skin on show EXACTLY where T zombies like to grab onto and eat. Her shoulders, neck, collarbones, chest, breasts and arms are just all OUT THERE. Its the best design RE has ever produced though.
The little bow on her bra is very unlike her though. A little too cute, but she was quite young i suppose.
oh yeah well you're gay
I believe you. Maybe Claire's jiggle is just a lot smaller? I might look into it myself.
While I love her RE3 design, it's still not my favorite. The classic will always be the best in my eyes. It's a close second though. RE5 designs were okay but no one will truly remember them in 20 years, besides DAT ASS
To be honest, REmake could take pretty long to finish if you don't know your routes and forget to bring the items needed to progress. It's also pretty harsh if it's the first RE game you play.
I also lose myself into the scenery. Every room is absolute kino, so I usually take it slow to savor the moment.
I guess it was just cool because outside of being a Cop, Jill seemed really fucking cool and aware she was smokin' in 1998. All her clothes are like "i have a fucking great body and its the 90's idc"
anyone have the pic of jill and rebeca using the bathroom in the mansion?
As a long time RE fan its hard for me to think of REmake as "one of the difficult ones". Its RE2 tier to me. The games that i cannot just fucking run through in 2-3 hours with top marks are always
>RE3
>Code: Veronica
>RE0
Those 3 make you work man. I dont know if i think CV or 0 is harder to ace. I platinumed REmake long ago but doing the same for RE0 feels daunting.
Ya, I agree. It totally does scream 90''s and as a guy who is 33 years old and extremely nostalgic, I miss it
I have never seen this. Bit of weird looking jacket though. I picture Rebecca more like this casually.
imagine if the movies hadn't been made and Capcom didn't think people wanted matrix stunts and the series hand't been ruined
bingo time
>worse atmosphere
Undeniably yes
Does she know i can see her mound?
I mean, it's just a tame panty shot. I don't think anyone cares
I have never seen this cover without the blue line around the corner. Is it on purpose or is it sun bleaching?
I am not sure, it's just a magazine cover I found. I assume its on purpose since sun bleaching fades, not colors
Is the RE2 remake any good?
It's not really polarizing. It dropped the ball on a few key memorable things of the OG game, but it's pretty fucking good on its own merits and as a remake.
The only things I thought that sucked were that Mr. X was a little too enthousiastic about combing through the station, and that fighting him outside of boss battles was a waste of time, effort and ammo. And the other thing was lack of the big-ass spiders, which were a well-designed enemy type. Instead we got some sewer turtles that looked pretty dumb and were placed in mostly obnoxious places.
I really fucking hate her new face design. She looks like she does the ahegao thing off-camera every other second.
>And the other thing was lack of the big-ass spiders
I understand how you feel. I missed the big ass moth but I lived with it.
Also an unsettling enemy. Overal I liked what early RE did to the flora and fauna rather than the modern designs, which are just edgy creatures and monsters for the most part.
The plant people in the 'Aperture' underground base were also a bit dissapointing.
Yes? Have you been living under a rock? Some are calling it GOTY.
The moth was obviously a barely implemented leftover from a previous incarnation of RE2 and they hastily added it in even if it didn't fit at all. They left it out of the remake because it was never supposed to be part of the story anyway.
I never played VII and just didn't have a lot of confidence in this being good.
I like them all, but I see where you are coming from. I also have attachment to the OG designs. Maybe RE 3 remake will have them? I think for what it was, RE 2 remake was a home run
>And the other thing was lack of the big-ass spiders, which were a well-designed enemy type.
spiders have always been shit enemies, even in the original RE1.
>Instead we got some sewer turtles that looked pretty dumb and were placed in mostly obnoxious places
G-Adults are a more fitting enemy in the context of the story than random giant spiders.
I disagree but I like the design. That one room had a lot of character and even RE Outbreak and RE CV used it
Who would win? My moneys on OG, she looks like she weighs a lot more.
I am not sure user, it's not really a question I care to think about. Just like all the creepy pedophiles who are interested in her. It's just weird
>if anything, deadly silence is the only acceptable version of OG RE1 and even then its a huge stretch
By what, your arbitrary standards? RE2 Remake was my first RE, and then I went back to play the original PS1 trilogy, and RE1 is unironically my favorite. It has the best music (the original soundtrack, of course) and setting and the gameplay still holds up. The only thing that hasn’t aged well is the voice acting and live action scenes but I’m with the group that thinks it adds to the game’s charm.
>who would win a fight
>peedos
Are you well user?
All it says and I quote, who will win?
Yes nigga in a fight, what else??
Yes it is but the B scenarios are pretty much the same unlike the original resident evil 2.
Well. This is the end.
>helicopters keep flying over my house
>get gang stalked every single day
>just lost 540 dollars in stocks (literally all the money i had)
>family wants to murder me
>keep hearing niggers giggling 10 feet from my window every night
>older brother has recently came out as a tranny and has admitted he has sexual feelings for me
>younger sister has picked up off me and now will literally not stop watching hentai
>step dad does nothing but smoke weed and drink knock off beer, also sometimes hits me
>mom is starting to do harder drugs again, tfw have seen her come into my room and take money from my wallet

I think this is a silly complaint. RE2 and RE 2 remake B scenarios aren't that different. The only major difference is the "zapping system". IE, weapons aren't there if you pick them up. Whole it was a missed opportunity to fix and improve that, its not that big of a deal IMO
Wasn't there more stuff between Leon and Ada and also with the sherrif, Sherry, Claire and Leon?
No, not really. The only thing is Leon and Claire had slightly more / different quick interactions. That's basically it
I just checked the wikia and it confirmed what I've said, there's a lot of interactions who have been removed. Leon, Ada, Sherry and the chief weren't supposed to be complete strangers to one another.
I think you are confused with things removed, compared to things changed.
none
>REmake is 18 years old
>RE1 is only 23 years old
Where did the time go?
Shitty mod. Hair is awful.
has that mag been scanned?
We really, really, really, need these old JP mags scanned.
We are old now
If Remake had been successful, we would have gotten RE2-3 GC remakes too.
Capcom were fools for not releasing Remake on the PS2. That's 2 million sales easy.
No, there's no confusion. There used to be a story between Sherry and Leon, which has been removed, not "changed".
My brain considers Remake a "new" game since the 2016 remake and it looks generally pretty modern.
While that is true, RE2 is a lot shorter than RE 2 remake. There are a lot of different things going on. Yes, they could of updated the parts you are talking about but I am totally okay with it in its current state
But its a 2002 game so thats just your brain on /vr/. Get help user. Its old, so is RE4 btw.
>can complete RE2 in 2 hours
>can complete REmake 2 in 2 hours
Is it though?
I'm not completely shitting on it, it's just that I liked these part of the story, it fleshed the relationships. isn't me btw.
Ya, I get you. Hopefully RE3 will fix all of these issues in the long run
I also consider Re4 modern since it has nice 3D graphics and it doesn't look THAT old. Plus with HD textures it looks more like a modern game.
CINDEH
I'm confused but okay. Too drunk to respond
I want to eat Claire Redfield
Weird
If Konami made a remake of SH it would sell ike 4 million. Guarantee it.
>tfw outbreak 3 never ever
You are fucking insane. No it wouldn't and everyone would pan it. Everyone hates Konami for good reason
If it was a 1:1 remake, faithful to the original, and just better graphics and voice acting. That's basically what REmake was. But that had the benefit of being directed by the original director. The original director is with Sony now.
Mate, we both know this so Konami and it would never happen.
t. zombie
>Richard's decapitation
It was actually Kenneth, the negro, who was decapitated.
Plus the intro was censored.
what are the chances they remake the original resident evil in the style of Re2make? or is it gunna be RE3
it's gonna be RE3. Maybe they will remake RE1 sometime after that, as RE7 was already a kind of soft-reboot all-in-one-mansion game like that
