If you haven't gotten very far you should restart and play the BL imo. BL is the best house from a character point of view to begin with, and it also lets you have the most efficient path through the game

1. Play the BL route
2. Play the BE route, and put a save just before the route split
3. Choose Route 1
4. Reload and choose Route 2

The main route of the BE gives you pretty much the same information you'd get from the GD route, so it lets you have seen everything without having to do the entire game over three times, it means you can skip almost all the first part of the game for your third "playthrough".

In any case, make sure you do a save before the route split so you can reload it again afterwards when you're finished with whatever one you choose. Just understand that the Crimson Flower route was a short "concession" route that was added in late in development at Marketing's insistence, it's not a true route really- it's only 6 maps long, doesn't really make sense why half the cast would join you, and has almost zero cutscenes. It's unclear how you even got knocked unconsious, you just... did?

Definitely Bernie, she's an absolute sweetheart that goes out of her way to do something that terrifies her, just to support you. Petra is nice too. And make sure you recruit her in all other routes Or Edelgard burns her alive to create a distraction

Marianne MUST be recruited in all routes, or she kills herself during the timeskip. She's also the best healer in the game.

Lysinthea is amazing in all respects. A religious mage who has high faith (and requires you do too, to join). Amazing white magic skills and unique black magic skills, recruit her in all routes.

Dimitri seems to be the favorite on Yea Forums but I must be in the minority who dislike his character. At first I thought his edgyness for Edelgard was justifiable because I was lead to believe she was responsible for the Duscur tragedy. But it turns out she was just a kid when it happened like Dimitri was so she couldn't have had a hand in it. It's fine to make a character go full school shooter mode, but you have to give the character a reason for causing it. Since Dimitri doesn't have a reason for it, then it makes his character arc just fall flat in my opinion.

Yeah, that's one of my major gripes with the game. The monastery post TS is just pointless outside of motivation and increasing support.
At that point you've recruited everyone you can so there's no rush to work towards raising affinity or skill rank.
Wish they had added more to do. Like rebuilding the monastery to make it look like it did before and add new things to it would have been interesting as a side thing to work on when you're not fighting.

The reason he thinks she's involved is because there's a scene of the Slithers talking with Flame Emperor and they mention their involvement in Duscur (although Edelgard herself doesn't comment on it), and Dimitri is eavesdropping on them. That's why he assumes Flame Emperor is also one of the culprits of Duscur.

Edelgard is one of the villains in history, whether we like it or not. Her thoughts are very radical and she has something similar to a complex of messiahs, since she believes that she is the only one who can solve the world's problems. Her attitude may be due to the fact that she is a character broken by experiments, but besides her being a victim, she is an executioner. The actions he performs are not justifiable without seeking a thousand speculative reasons to excuse her.
