Dark Souls

Rey isn't the best though

Halo easily, right down to the tragic fate of both franchises

Halo

Mass effect

MGS

I enjoyed TFA and Rogue One.
TJL was trash though. Never got around to watching Solo.

3 isn't best either

> Original Trilogy = Final Fantasy VI
> Prequel Trilogy = WarCraft III
> Disney Trilogy = Mass Effect Trilogy
Not saying WarCraft III is bad, but it's what the prequels should have been if they weren't so awful

Ass Creed since it also has three trilogies by now.

Exactly the same situation for me. Rogue One was certainly better than the prequels.

Final Fantasy

Souls drones are autistic faggots

Sonic
Tons of games, early ones are great and everything new is garbage except for mania i guess
Spin-offs are almost always better
Autism of the fanbase cannot be measured with current technology

Yes it is but that doesn't mean much because 1 and 2 are just really bad games but for some reason 1 gets away with it for many people just because the world is neatly connected. Which is dumb because what good does that do when every path leads to unfun nonsense

A franchise rebooted or revived at least twice and popular and iconic despite recent failings?
Tombraider?

WarCraft. WoTLK was the Return of the Jedi & everything afterwards was Nu-Wars. Athras is basically Anakin Skywalker

If you treat Ezio's games as a single package as they should have been, and thinking it has a fuck ton of spin off content, you're right. And the original trilogy is the undisputed best, while the second has some memorable moments.
>1 to 3
>4 to Unity
>Syndicate to Odyssey

Nobody gives a single fuck about Tomb Raider or Lara Croft in the 21st century. That's the difference between her & Star Wars, she's a literal who to anyone that isn't a boomer

The original good aspects overshadow the flaws. It's not a hard concept to grasp unless mentally impaired.

Unironically 100% right.
1 and The Originals took techniques from the past and updated them for the modern audience, doing so in a very sincere and heartfelt way, while still maintaining their own identity, sending waves throughout the whole industry.
2 and The Prequels tried some new ideas and failed miserably even though the people behind them tried really hard. Also, they are both regarded as the most "objectively bad".
3 and The Sequels aren't necessarily bad but they lack direction and are very clearly made for money and not because of passion.

But they really don't

Mass Effect
1 and 2 are the original trilogy(classic space opera story with amazing moments and likable characters)
3 is the prequel trilogy(disappointing and flawed with some good moments)
Andromeda is the Disney trilogy(complete irredeemable shit that's completely lost all soul)

Imagine thinking your piece of shit franchise is good

Bioware somehow mimics it.

The Golden era:
Baldur's Gate = New Hope
Neverwinter Nights = Empire Strikes Back
Kotor = Return of the Jedi

The Prequel EA-ra:
Mass Effect = Phantom Menace.
Dragon Age = Attack of the Clones
Mass Effect 2 = Revenge of the Sith

The era when the IP finally dies:
Mass Effect 3 = Force Awakens
Mass Effect Andromeda = The Last Jedi

The last one because it is not profitable anymore to gon:

Anthem = Rise of Skywalker.

ME:Andromeda

The Era were everything went wrong

Only the first Dark Souls is really good. The rest are just okay, so I don't know how I'd rate the franchise as a whole.
I don't really get why you felt the need to reply honestly

It has to be popular to be compared to Star Wars, KOTOR is the only game from the golden era that anyone gives a shit about

DA:O was revenge of the sith because it was their last decent game

TFA was retarded but Rogue One was a very good movie and I was starting to like the franchise.

I can't believe Disney made the best and the worst SW movie back to back. TLJ is so bad it is not even funny.

>Only the first Dark Souls is really good
It's not. I was as much of a bad attempt of recreating Severance as Demon's Souls was

If the game that is Dark Souls 2 was released as Dark Souls 3 and vice versa I would agree with you, but DS3 itself has a heartfelt ending to the series where Miyazaki shows clearly it isn't only about money, making a meta self insert character and putting the world at the end of the universe in each DLC. And then he makes Sekiro and Elden Ring instead of another Souls title.
for reference

You are right, I guess ME2 is more like Rogue One, it is like the last time anyone could say Bioware tried.

I like all the Star Wars movies equally. I watched ROTS again recently. That movie is shit. I love it. Can't wait for TROS.

E.T.

kys

The Xenogears "series" was intended to be, but still can't get its story straight.

I haven't personally played Severance and as such don't really have a good grasp of it but from what I can see it's mostly the combat that's praised.
The lore, interconnected world, atmosphere, etc and dumb stuff like that is why I loved Dark Souls, not because of the gameplay.

I think there are quite a few arguments for switching around 2 and 3 but it's mainly the fact that 2 tries new stuff and fucks up and that 3 is a rehash which makes me not want to move them around.
Get what you mean though.

Why?

I see your point too but I agree to disagree.

I used to think it was impossible to make a Star Wars film worse than Phantom Menace or Attack of the Clones.

GTA

For anyone reasonable they do.

>TFA over any of the prequels
>R1 over ROTS

cringe

Capcom Fighting Games
Original Trilogy = Everything from SF2 to CvS2
Prequel Trilogy = SF4, TvC, MvC3
Sequel Trilogy = SF5, MvCi

Original trilogy - Genesis era Sonic games (the classics)
Prequel trilogy - Sonic 06 (wtf is this shit)
Sequel trilogy - Sonic Mania (some good, some bad, not creative but generally entertaining)

Half Life.

How is it that Disney park Reys are better than the real thing?

Attached: disneyreys.jpg (1825x937, 603K)

Pretty spot on but I'll give it a shot.
>OT: Batman Arkham Asylum and City.
For pretty obvious reasons
>Prequels: Arkham Origins
Shitty prequel with shoddy writing and worse effects than the original despite being made later. However, it has a strong fanbase of contrarians that latch onto it and laud it for the wrong reasons (da fights were gud!!)
>Sequel Trilogy: Arkham Knight
Technically, a highly competent entry with great graphics and tight, fast paced gameplay. However, the story is not full inspired due to the loss of the original writer (Dini/Lucas and others from the OT) and the need to make the entry as marketable as possible. Many elements are considered too subversive, like the overabundance of the batmobile compared to the bossfights of the previous entries.
Also features a villain that gets completely sidelined for a more famous one despite the advertising.

Attached: Batman.jpg (2560x1600, 1.71M)

I'd put TFA over AotC at least. Rogue One sucks except for the last third.

Best in thread.

Kingdom Hearts but only if you break the the series as the following

Original SW Trilogy (4/5/6) = KH1/CoM/2 - both are a perfectly self contained arc
Prequel trilogy (1/2/3) = KH BbS and the mobile game - prequel shit that adds some weird retcons
Solo/Rogue One = 358/2, 0.2, and Re:Coded - sidestory stuff that expands on some things but are not needed
New SW Trilogy (7/8/9) = KH DDD, 3, and beyond - new stuff that goes full retard with the canon

Rogue One was a great movie that I’ll never watch again. TFA blew AIDS junkies, but TLJ was actually good.
Fight me IRL.

What's the video game equivalent of The Room?

Attached: oh hi mark.jpg (1280x720, 59K)

Thanks bro.
I also forgot to add Jason Todd is eerily similar to Kylo Ren, being the emo failed apprentice of Batman/Luke Skywalker who runs around trying to kill his family while commanding a paramilitary force and wearing a mask that emulates a previous character (Batman/Vader).
Rogue One is the worst of the three.

Yo where is all this the prequels weren’t awful garbage coming from? There’s not a single human being I know that thinks those are good movies. Is it a samefagging sperg, or just normal contrarianism?

Jak and Daxter

>Wholesome good natured first game / protagonist
>Dark and Edgy second game / protagonist
>Soulless and out of ideas third game / protagonist

Attached: jak daxter.jpg (240x240, 27K)

Mass effect?

Deadly Premonition

Attached: deadly_premonition.0[1].jpg (1200x800, 80K)

Great list homie, but I liked TLJ even if it had its fair share of cringe moments.
Silent Hill

I liked TLJ but then again, I didn't give a single shit about fan theories so that probably helped. TFA was garbage and took no risks. At least TLJ acted like Luke fucking aged since we last saw him. TFA was trying to pretend Han Solo was still the same smuggler he used to be. And Leia is a GENERAL now! Ooh! Yet they got zero character progression and remained in limbo. That was a lot more depressing than seeing Luke drink blue alien milk.

it's more like
1. thing people universally like
2. thing that was universally hated but now people pretend to like because what we got now is worse
3. thing universally hated

Does it have to be a trilogy? Because if not then ill go with the modern sonic games. Which are the prequel trilogy, and the old sonic games are OT

only actual dyed in the wool nerds care about capeshit

>1st good, 2nd changed to appeal to a wider audience, 3rd just plain shit
That would be something like 90% of all game series that make it to a third one.

>dyed in the wool
What does that mean?
Also we're on an anime forum comparing video games to Star Wars movies, but comic books are where you draw the line on nerdiness?

How in the shit does this make any sense?

fuck you
the only thing good about prequels are animated series and republic comando

This
>1 has cons but those cons are far outweighed by the pros
>2 tried to explore the setting more, but due to mismanagement and poor direction ended up only providing a crappy base (with some admittedly okay ideas) for better things to be made off of it
>3 is made solely to shit on previous entries by rewriting history and mechanics, and is made for a significantly more casual audience.

> First half of World of Balance = A New Hope
> 2nd Half of World of Balance = Empire Strikes Back
> World of Ruin = Return of the Jedi

anything is better that the real thing

I'm tempted to say Ultima because fuck 8 and 9. But 4-6 were better than 1-3
