Now that the Penitent One is the new Father, do the remaining laity that send their prayers to him still idolize pain and suffering, or did the Penitent One's action change that? As in do they now idolize sacrifice as represented in Penitent One's quest to seal away the Grievous Miracle and taking on everyone's guilt from the destruction of the Guilt Statues and killing of all the enemies that were grossly transformed by the miracle to embody their own sin and guilt?
The Penitent circumstance seems completely different to the previous "Fathers" like The Twisted One and the Knot of the Three Words where they felt simply wanted punishment for their OWN guilt rather than taking on other's guilt Jesus-style.

I only got that Things were finally going well for Cvstodia until Crisanta ruined everything.
