>Release game famed for its multiplayer and competitive scene >Make it an admittidely fantastic single player spectacle with no multiplayer component at all >Forgotten in a month >Devs: we believe multiplayer goes against our chill ethos >Reality: We were paid to put all that effort into PSVR support instead and the game didnt sell well enough for us to afford proper post launch support.
In another Timeline we got Tetris Effect Multiplayer while Tetris 99 and Puyo Pop Tetris faded to obscurity as oddities rather than the current defaults. But not this timeline.
Jesus Christ, the underage cancer around this time is unbearable
OP, try making this thread again in a few hours

VR is a meme gimmick fad that is already over.
Isaac Gonzalez
tengen tetris had it but nintendos version didnt for whatever fucking reason
Henry Moore
The problem is that its the only official Tetris game with 2 player battle still alive, but you have to cut through some Puyo here and there.
Dominic Morris
It was overpriced as fuck.
Ian Brown
the original didn't obviously. just saying that could've just added it there in tetris effect with little to no effort for fun. but it was vr thing so probably focused on that.
Elijah Martinez
Only on 2019 Yea Forums would you get people complaining about a fucking Mizuguchi Tetris game. Fuck this board.
Gabriel Rogers
Guideline Tetris' true strengths are Sprint and multi-player battle. They are the only things it has over playing NES and Grandmaster Tetris. I like TE a lot, it's a great beginner Tetris game, but it does lack one of the two modes it really does need.
Lucas Taylor
>Tetris 99 is killing months later and lobbies fill instantly >PPT exists for competitive 1v1 modern but have to occasionally delete puyo >Have Tetris Effect for a chill single player experience curated by based Mizuguchi, includes leaderboards anyway >The CTWC is thriving off of a 30 year old version of the game Any Tetris fan complaining in current year needs to be put out of their misery because they'll clearly never be happy anyway. rip friends tho
Gabriel Wright
seriously though, how hard would it be to put in multiplayer? Lots of tetris games with much less effort put into them have had it, so what was stopping them?
Brody Kelly
One thing I dislike about 99 is that it becomes way too easy to win in regular lobbies and while Invinctus lobbies are much better at sending strong opponents, you'll sometimes get half the game with AI bots. It wouldn't have been hard at all.
Grayson Rogers
I concur that they could stand to better incentivize playing Invictus more, but I couldn't possibly disagree harder about Tetris Effect competitive multiplayer. The working title was Zen Tetris, I say keep it that way. Save competitive for a Tetris Effect 2 with skins and music that reflect the tension of competition and include a competitive/co-op campaign where the transcendental final level has you clearing each other's garbage instead
Eli Ramirez
Concession accepted!
Leo Edwards
Biggest problem is they charged $40 for fucking Tetris.
Adrian Hernandez
theres no reason for guideline/SRS tetris to not have multiplayer, since thats really the only thing its good for. if you wanted a single player tetris you'd be playing TGM3 or some other ARS-like tetris game
Oliver Turner
>rip friends to be fair friends sucked dick and jstris is a million times better
Ian Cox
ackshully it was $36 for preorder. and it had a demo.
oh... shit... damn... i better do as user says
Daniel Roberts
>Announce a PC version >Epic exclusive >Completely forgotten They deserve it.
Blake Williams
NES has maxout and the CTWC. TGM has the GM ranks. SRS has multiplayer and sprint. The side modes each of these rotation rules has are great, but removing one of their main components is like removing a vital organ. Not to say that I hate Tetris Effect. It was my first Tetris game, but if you are going to get into Guideline Tetris pretty hard you really are better off trying out Cultris, Jstris, or PPT.
Ethan Phillips
Your opinions aren't facts user
David Garcia
i know my opinions arent facts, thats why i posted facts and not opinions
Connor Cooper
Dude I gotta agree with the dude. Guideline Tetris is very easy to learn unless you get into competitive.
Joseph Parker
not every game needs new content released after it comes out fag
Jack Flores
This
Brayden Green
Isn't Cultris even more broken than guideline? Not a bad thing, but you can do some fucking dumb twists
Carter Cruz
I would've bought it if it wasn't on EGS.
Caleb Rivera
And Tetris Effect has an attempt at a "story" in Journey Mode, one of gaming's most beautiful moments for my money in Metamorphosis, and I doubt we've seen the last of the Zone meter. The game feels like an interesting sidegrade to your usual Tetris games rather than the next iteration, and I think that's okay. Sometimes I feel like Mizuguchi missed the mark with Tetris Effect simply because people who came for the Tetris don't care about synesthesic experiences, and his fans that came for the synesthesia don't care to pay up for Tetris. Fortunately I came for both, so the game feels made for me. Here's hoping everyone's happy with Tetris Effect 2 when it definitely gets made and comes out to universal praise. Definitely. ;_;
