Can Dragon Age: Origins be considered an unabashed masterpiece, or are there glaring flaws?
Can Dragon Age: Origins be considered an unabashed masterpiece, or are there glaring flaws?
I love Dragon Age but let's be honest, Dragon Age's combat has always been kinda a mess. Plus in the first game the balancing is real off, mages get a real advantage simply because of how the game's combat works.
Maybe if the deep roads were half as long even though it makes sense for it to be long, it's annoying
It's certainly not perfect, but it's still one of my favorite RPGs.
Just need to knock the difficulty down to Easy mode to get through a few sluggish sections quicker. i.e. The Deep Roads and Sloth Demon encounter.
Can Morrigan be considered perfect?
Morrigan might be Bioware's greatest waifu.
I didn't care for it. Mages were incredibly overpowered, there was a bunch of day 1 DLC that wasn't balanced in any way so you end up with a suit of armor just given to you at the first town, the mage's tower and the deep roads are so fucking long and boring, all the npc's look hideous. The game is just boring all around. It would have benefitted from being top down perspective with more control of your party members, but you can't set traps or anything for the enemy.
For men of taste yes.
Mods can't do shit.
imo no.
I didn't care for it at all. uninstalled it rather quickly and I'm a sucker for RPGs. modern D&D clones with a few exceptions bore me to death.
felt similar about Pillars of Eternity. I just thought "hmm, I haven't finished both Icewind Dale games yet..." and dropped it. I loved NWN2 even though the OC was sluggish as shit but I finished it and basically devoured MotB later.
>Reddit spacing
Checks out
not an argument.
THINK OF THE ADS! DO YOU WANT HIRO TO STARVE?
>. It would have benefitted from being top down perspective
is this not top down? it plays like a nwn game
>or are there glaring flaws?
of course there are, it wasn't even anywhere near on par with the crpgs it tried to emulate. the characters were all trash, the combat was hugely limited with very few options, the story was very poor.
just because it was a passable game and the best bioware could do doesn't make it a masterpiece.
This.
Story is messy, lore is generic, progression system is ass, writing degenerates after peaking in the origins.
7/10 flawed good game.
Starting out with "imo" was already enough
I played it on 360 and it's third person, but with really really bad controls.
I see someone played on Xbox...
oh well that sucks. on pc you can zoom the camera way out and rotate around etc.
>I played it on 360
There's your first mistake.
I prefer only seeing 3/4s her breasts. The mystery of the nipple has been disrupted.
I just realized that her tits haven't actually changed that much in DA:I. Her outfit is deceiving as are these shadows, put a bra on it and it's almost the same.
you guys are fucking retarded.
imo no.
Kek
Yes, my user! I have abandoned the ways of Leliana and accepted Morrigan into my heart. I do believe that it made me a better person!
I mean, not really. But I like her as a character.
it's jank but it has soul
yeah
its perfect
>it's jank
Maybe on console.
DA:O is better version of BG2/BG1. Outside companions BG is garbage and doesn't hold up.
>imb4: zoom zoom
Wrong.
>DA:O is better version of BG2/BG1.
This but unironically.
It's a masterpiece of a movie, not so much a game.
it's fucking unbearably boring
just play Divinity. why the fuck would you subject yourself to a shitty rpg when there are good ones out there
Not until she's "tied to a pole and tickled."
Based retard. Across a 50 hour game, there is one hour of cutscenes.
>deep roads
>mages tower
>the forest
i will never replay this game. i just hate these parts so much.
50 hours of cinematic experiences*
Only if you never played BioWares good games. Then yes you might like this enormous let down of a game
It pales in comparison to ME1 in just about every way, and that game came out two years before it.
I feel like the only person not bothered by the "that parts" of DAO.
If anything, worst for me is the stuff after the personal story until the tower.
I never understood the fans of the game's lore. I remember some niggas talking about novels or comics... why the hell would you read a dragon age novel?
he said Origins, not 2: Alleyway Boogaloo
The place that always stops my playthroughs is the Sacred Ashes quest. I can zone out well enough to get through the tower and deep roads but fuck that dumb ice temple.
The forest sucks too but I always save it for last
Tried playing it three times, it's so bad. Shitty """"strategic"""" combat with very little strategy involved (just assign actions/enemies to all the party members, hope it works if not try again), obnoxious character and story/lore with the subtlety of a Christopher Nolan movie, it's one of the most overrated RPGs ever. At least I got it for free.
fade and the brood mother boss is what is stopping me from replaying the game
It would have been, if it didn't have EA's stink all over it. Fucking DLC list was a joke and then how much each piece cost. It was damn good, but it could have been better.
The only thing I think was really egregious was the guy who follows your campsite around the entire game and directs you to the DLC store page through his dialogue when he asks if you want to go on a big exciting quest.
That was a pure and shameless EA dick move.
Cute art
That’s funny because I played a sword and board tank and by the end of the game I was a fucking juggernaut.
Why do mages have an advantage?
What is : Range
Pricing is irrelevant to whether or not the art is good.
Why would anyone hate the Forest? Best section of the game for me, great main quest too.
D&D based battle systems are cancer
Morri in chantry robes is the hottest thing ever
The game plays itself.
I liked the crazy hermit and rhyming tree.
There are a couple quest bugs but that doesnt break the game. One quest you may or may not be able to finish depending on luck. Not a big deal. Some stats on certain pieces of gear were not implemented so they do nothing. Romance Leliana is broken if you dont do it right but i have never given a single fuck about romancing party members in any game ever. Denerim crashes sometimes if the settings are too high. Morrigan story stuff removed but fixed by a mod supposedly. Blood mage is op. If you get all the free gear dlc just play the game on hard it will be too easy otherwise. Rogues are OP too. Dont bother with traps ever. I liked it. I like all the factions and different starting areas depending on the class or race you pick.
Every class is powerful late game if you did it right, dual dagger rogues are untouchable with enough dex.
game looked like shit even back then, and no mods could fix that
speaking of mods, modding support was too limited and came far too late
it did have very neat features tho, but definitely not a masterpiece, more of a 8/10 must have/play (even though I never finished it with 250+hours on it
Game was built for the PC it's not the true experience on console, everything from difficulty to graphical detail is watered down on console even the menus look different.
