Guild Wars 2 struck me as a setting that has no good characters, writing, or world building. The most interesting element was the Charr / human war to me, but even a shitty writer can make a concept like that.

I don't know what 1 was like, but I haven't found an mmorpg with shittier, blander writing than GW 2

Game actually has a ton of casuals playing it. I went to visit one of the LS S3 maps (2 year old event maps) and even those somehow had people in them.

The last game I finished was last year and it was an old game I had owned since launch: Deus Ex Human Revolution. Marvelous game. I also finished the new Shantae game and it was great. But, now that I'm older and well-off, I just want to chill and play MMORPG's, interact with people and immersing myself in that world. I know that may sound cheesy and lame as shit but it's somewhat true.

In fact the entire DS 2.0 was a mistake. Going for younger characters was a total "how do you do fellow kids" shit move and it would have been better if the original DS would have just continued. They comming together again in the story of the dungeons and finally in Arah was a nice(if cliche) arc and it still pisses me off how they were all sidelined or even discarded.
I will never forgive them that they diddn't even brought Zojjia back when we faught Kralk.

First expansion pack is the best imo; kills hearts and makes every map meta orientated where you push events towards a grand event before it's reset.

Second xpack added mounts and you go back to elona. It's a decent hybrid-there's quite a few meta events but some (repeatable) hearts.

GW2's got it flaws but it has been improving overall, imo.

Zojja's been out for so long because they didn't want to pay Felecia Day what she wanted, and they also don't want to replace her for some stupid reason

Destiny 2 New Light includes all of Destiny 2's year one content and they're adopting the Guild Wars 2 "a la carte business model" where you can buy expansions and episodes within annual passes as you choose.

Also all content is being upscaled to LL750 and you'll hit 750 within five minutes of starting the game. Very Guild Wars-esque

What annoys me is that after the final story mission, Zojja wasn't really into being with the pact at all. They could of just easily written her off entirely from there (the pact has the dragon killer lazer at that point) and not introduce us to Tumblr Edge.

Dps queues for Rand dungeon dailies takes hours, so I only end up playing healer or tank, but when i do, I fucking swear brainlets don't know how to weave light attack or have shit gear and there's no fucking dps. And you sit there for 4 minutes whacking a damage sponge where you don't stand in the red aoe damage circles.

And the fact of the matter is they're trying to nerf damage across the board because non-brainlets exist in the game, even though 90% of the time you get queued with shitty role-playing faggots that don't fucking understand how to deal damage. Nerfing skill damage lowers the general dps of brainlets players, too.

I was never a fan of the game scaling you to the area you were in. After grinding for a while, I want to feel powerful. GW never gave me that feeling, it's like you're permanently pillow fisted plinking away at damage sponges.

I enjoy doing some of the achievements for the story instances. Vanilla story is all easymode as shit, but the quality is in there for most everything past LS S2. Though I'm not sure if power creep has not hit a lot of it by now.

I gave up on story content when HoT came out. Kinda liked the world when it came out, Charr and Asura were cool, their starting zones drove me to learn more about the world.

But then I realized that Asura are not Asura from EOTN, they are some disneyfied rats and not morally gray tehcnomagical goblin midgets, and charr are tumblr fursuits instead of ferocious human slaying monster race. It all went to shit pretty fast. Oh, and don't forget the lesbians with superpowers!

I actually liked the baseline story.
I never really wanted to be super duper leader of all so I found my perfect story as high ranking operating officer in the forged pact. Orr was great and I liked how everything was brought together to create something larger then its parts.
It was also the only time there was a genuine large war effort. After Maguuma it only seems weird how the pact pulls out resources out of its ass again and again, but whatever.

I've done a few. They're hard but fun. It sucks that you either have to find a guild that not only does raids, but also pray their raid group isn't already full and adhere to their schedule.
Anet created a shitty environment for raids where you either do that or have 250 KP's to join a pug group.

I like it. I wish it had more small activities like fishing.

I got a copy of GW 1 and GW 2 about a year ago. Spent some time playing GW 1 solo since nobody is still on and ended up having a decent amount of fun. Couldn't even make it past the tutorial of GW 2 and uninstalling it because it was so shit - despite having a small population of people still playing.

Almost everyone from GW1 left before during development of GW2, and none of the new devs ever played the original.

its a game that is the MMO:WoW formula refined to perfection, so its shit with no socail element outside of lumping up in new areas, and you just grind the same handful of new whatevers every so many months for the gear creep before you log off and do it all again in the few months.

Biggest thing that pisses me off about GW2 is that they adressed the problem that gear grinds are fucking worthless treadmills which only serve to waste time while demanding subscription bucks from retards, but then failed to properly give people meaningful content to play after they removed that gear grind. Shouldn't be too surprised since GW1 was also filled with a dearth of meaningful content.

There's three ways you can go about this
1) get a guild that raids and go by their schedule, likely the most pleasant option if you can find a relaxed one
2) join or start runs labeled as "training", since those are basically runs where guys with no experience or killproofs go to wipe on a boss to learn it
3) join normal pugs and fake your KP (killproofs) with fake item links, requires the most research and you need to be ready to get kicked by a hair trigger since everyone is on the edge and generally an asshole

Raids are fun but the pug community has pretty much gone to shit as far as I can see.

GW2 doesn't have a tutorial, liar-kun. It gives you a brief instance where your HP can't fall below one where you fight some big baddie, then you're free in the world to go anywhere you want and play how you want.

WoW was comfy, but around BC the mechanics were already outdated.
MMOs would be a dead genre at this point, but too bad the monthly income causes that sickness in the publishers that replaces their eyeballs with dollar signs, so even today they keep spamming a WoW game with outdated mechanics, but with that one gimmick WoW didn't have (SWTOR: WoW with Sound, WildStar: WoW with Housing).
The question is, why would fans want to follow bootlegs? They aren't even creative anymore. Remember how unique each MMO was, before WoW came out? God do I miss SWG, or City of Heroes, or Kingdoms of Camelot, or EverQuest 2 or Anarchy Online or EVE fucking Online, before it proved that capitalism doesn't work, and ends in corporate oligarchy and one of them is the motherfucking goonsquad from Something Awful.

City of Heroes is up as a private server, and SWG has like 5. EQ2 still exist

Every guild I've raided with has been chill and properly trained new members for the fights. Pugs are mainly players who've already killed the boss 40 times and just want a quick clear, and expect to fill the group with others like them.
