Man I hated what they did to the streets on the way to the orphanage. In the original the streets were filled with zombies and the characters see going out the station as suicide yet in remake a fat guy can slowly drag a screaming, struggling girl through a few streets with no problem whatsoever.

Stuff like this ultimately brings down what appears to be a fantastic-looking game with a lot of care put into it. It shows that there actually wasn't too much thought put into adapting the story.

Playing on Hardcore for my first run pretty much ruined anything lower. Hardcore feels like normal with started feeling like easy.

Yes. I'm playing the game and that Ada hacking device is so dumb that the only way to consider the game canon is to think that the correct side is the Claire's. Things between Leon and Ada happens, but not as it's shown, so it'd need a game so we can see how it really happened.

I hate the fact they tried to go with some RE1 nonsense about not having a parallel story. It worked for RE1 since the other character sat on their ass all night. If playing as Claire, you're supposed to believe Annette somehow has the time to tell Leon "btw Ada's a spy" off-screen somewhere? Does he not even need to fight a super tyrant since Mr.X went after Claire and got ripped in half? Or playing as Leon, Claire opened the G-sample storage unit with the pendant before Leon could even access the west area? Does Sherry even get sick? I assume so since the DEVIL vaccine is gone when Leon takes a G-sample. When does that happen? It triggers my fucking autism.

tl;dr this game had too much effort and care put into making it look amazing, which it does, but the story and the gameplay suffer horribly because of it.

So, I guess, that the canon side for RE2 is Claire's, since it makes more sense that she's fighting William and her relationship with Annette. Ada's segment is just plain dumb.

Since CAPCOM confirmed it's the new canon... then I believe them.

What is missing is a Scenario B, where everything makes sense, maybe another Mr. X is running behind LEON, and things would happen differently.

Game was not meant to have 2nd runs. It was meant to be pick Claire or Leon and in both you'd get the full thing and ending. They made 2nd runs with minimal effort by just hacking together scenes. What's funny is that you can see this in action with a line on the train.

Leon 2nd run intro: Leon "We're gonna make it, both of us."
Train: Leon "We made it." Claire "Just like I said we would."

Claire 2nd run intro: Claire "Hey... Let's get through this. Both of us."
Train: Leon "I told you we'd make it didn't I?" Claire "You did."

They won't remake the entire series. I doubt there'll be a new canon either. As for multiple Mr.X's, I'd like to believe that but as far as RE2 is concerned, there is nothing that points towards multiple Tyrants strolling around.

Actually the Chris campaign is the canon one because Wesker gets "killed" by the tyrant. Its reference in CV and in the Wii game, one of the only canon stories is the one where Weaker makes his escape after being killed.

Just in that factory, there's outbreak file 2 as well if you're counting every single one. Multiple Mr.X's walking around isn't too far-fetched but there's no attention drawn to it in-game. With how the remake tried to handle it's scenario structure originally to be more like RE1, I just assume he's only trouble for the player character.

Which was a thing that happened Rev2, a game was made by a different team that also happened to be the same people that did REmake 2, so inconsistencies isnt anything new for them.
One can argue that the beginning of Jill is canon while the rest of Chris' campaign is the canon one, but in the end, Chris is the most important route because it's the on that Capcom uses onward.
