A song made for an Earthbound rom hack is now an official track in a licenced nintendo game that features Ness and Lucas
I love Vriska!
Die hussie
tl;dr: eat shit, faggots.
>toby may or may not be buddy-buddy with Itoi
>Mother 4 happens
>special thanks: Toby Fox
Imagine the autism storm
>Megalovania plays for the very first time right as the word "FAGGOT" gets displayed on screen
>this is now a song in an official nintendo soundtrack
So what exactly was the plot of this game?
Better yet
in Mother 3, why didn’t porky kidnap Dr andonuts at a time when he couldn’t make the phase distorter or when he couldn’t pull ness and friends out of the past?
How did Toby not get cancelled for this?
But I thought Nintendo didn't endorse romhacks as that was seen as piracy. Why is it okay for Toby Fox? What the fuck Yea Forumsros?
The idea is that when Ness and co. return to the present after fighting Giygas, they actually returned to a different timeline since they defeated him in the past. In the original timeline, Giygas is still defeated but since the children didn't return Andonuts goes mad with grief. Starts doing all sorts of crazy shit. iirc you play as a bounty hunter who is hired to kill Andonuts, and in order to kill him you have to enter his Magicant. You see a bunch of different scenes from over the course of his life while traveling inside, and discover repressed memories (such as closeted homosexuality). You destroy his consciousness piece by piece until he dies.
The bounty hunter is also Ares/Varik from the Brandish games.
Right, thanks. I remember there was an html file or something that came with the hack that explained things pretty well. I hope that didn't get lost to time because it was a pretty interesting read.
The funny thing is. We're all extremely jealous.
He made it, while we were sitting on our ass doing whatever, that guy made it. All those childhood fantasies of our OC being in smash, all those dreams of being noticed by big brother nintendo, the reality check we gave ourselves telling ourselves it was impossible. And he did it. All our daydreams about making a game so good it gets the world to love us. He made it. It was actually achievable with hard work it was actually achievable with determination. We just wasted our time and never even tried...
>determination
Oh you cheeky fuck
Yeah, I think she is in
I'm not jealous of him more than I am inspired.
I've looked up to most game devs as if they were gods on another plane of existence but Toby Fox just seems like such a regular relatable dude, and that's what makes his success story so aspiring to me.
He's a quiet achiever. He wasn't some prodigy child who won contests at a young age and graduated from a prestigious art school. He was just some kid who made some romhacks and songs for fun in highschool.
Then all of a sudden he releases a game and now he's living in japan with connections to several big names in the industry and has also got his character and music put in smash.
Toby is where he is now due to his own efforts, I can hardly be jealous of that because he rightfully earned it.
That would also kind explain those robot enemies in the hat, with Ness’s hat
Better yet, a former homestuck composer is now composing music for Game Freak. Toby truly is based.
>megalovania gets in an official mother product
how old was toby when he made undertale so I know when to kill myself
I'm in her spider troll puss, you mean
I like Undertale's music, but why do people like megalovania so much?
It's pretty generic when compared to a lot of the other songs.
Not saying I disagree, but I think Toby's success also has a huge basis in luck. If you look at his game's code, it's certainly not the best. But the way he put everything together, with the writing and music (whether you think it's done well or not) just happened to be a perfect storm that landed "just right" for the mostly internet-based masses of today. Though in terms of actual work and building an audience, he does have the hack and the fact that he made some music for Homestuck, which is someone else's "baby." I'm not saying he didn't already have an audience, but I think Undertale's fandom is separate from that to a large extent.
toby is an example of what an indie developer can do if he keeps his mouth shut and makes quality content. i really respect him
12.
guess I'll have to build a time machine and kill my 12 year old self instead
Toby has a faggot pass without being gay. These days people wouldn't even accept an apology for anything past or present without you becoming un-personed. He's a lucky lad.
The cancer of cancel culture hadn't grown powerful enough yet
Undertale almost made me pursue video game development as a career path. I know I sound like a faggot but that game really moved me.
Japan should have never encouraged w*stoid indie devs. This cannot end well.
at this point its basically toby's signature song and has appeared in everything he's worked on to some extent
i will shit myself if hometown hero has it in the game
>homestuck music is now in smash
Fuck, son, that sounds rad.
