You don't even need 2 troops. Just assassinate turn 1 and after that if they decide to target her they wasted a turn.

The more troops she has comared to her target the higher chance for an assasination to succeed instead of fail

IIRC it uses a surprisingly simple method to determine success rate, something like;
>Assassination 2 - 50% success rate
>if enemy troop size is any amount higher than ninja size, reduce success rate by 10%
>if enemy troop size is 1000 or more higher than ninja size, reduce success rate by another 10%
So for the most part if you're just using suzume as an assassination machine, it doesn't really matter if they have 1 more troop or 999 more troops.

You have to trigger a scene at the beginning of turn where Rance says "hey remember everyone from the last games I wonder how they are doing I should call them up" in order to start doing the reinforcements. Its relatively low priority, but if you have a slow early game and don't stack a bunch of high priority scenes on top of it you can get it pretty quickly.

I haven't played the game in like 5 years, but if I remember correctly the high priority scenes mostly come from dungeon clears, particularly that one dungeon where rance has to blow his load all over this one chick, and clearing it the first time causes you to get two scenes over the next two turns where the ninja chick trains him to blow bigger loads. There is one, the monkey scene, that comes from an early conquest. Most of the people talking about the inability to do reinforcements are doing the flag route, and because the flag route goes hard on early dungeons it ends up getting 1-2 satisfaction rewards before the scene plays.

Should I finish 6 first? I hear it's long and grindy as fuck.

You don't.
You only lose a territory when all areas in it are conquered, so you really only need to win 1, maybe 2 of the battles there.
With that said, actually beating the blitz unlock the Shingen Assassination event, which is necessary to recruit the 4 old dudes. The best way is to have A LOT of OP units. Which is something that can only really be done in later play throughs.
Enjoy the shimazu blitz when it shows up.

The funny thing is that in VI even though Rance was a dick, right at the beginning of the game he worries about some random male NPC.

Rance's main purpose it to be a dunegon unit or conquering easy areas when you aim for the 'have sex with 300 women bonus'.
If you want to make him good, you need to quickly tax areas to get stat books (or be lucky in random battles, or clear dungeons in later playthroughs when you al;ready have item).
If you grab Rance elites when most of hist stats are 6, he becomes very effective. And with Rance attack (which you should get for commander battles), Chaos boost and Shill healing, even more so.

However, he still peaks at 2 star difficulty.

You can take a turn to do other shit but you really shouldnt go 3-4 turns without some sort of war. Remember you can do dungeons while at war, they dont effect the commanders ability to do troop battles.

There's an option to make multi-hit moves play every attack at once, I noticed you can ctrl to speed up other faction's turns in case you want to speed through their recruitment phase but not skip them, the chart that shows you what things you've done to get 100% of the game looks way different and is more helpful. Very minor differences.

I only spend money on replenishment and nothing else. No point in recruiting troops.
Don't forget you can enforce taxation once on every territory you've conquered. This nets you some gold and a stat skill book, which is good to use on rance before using his elite units satisfaction bonus
I see you've spent some of your satisfaction bonuses on making keiji maeda stronger which isn't the best use of those bonuses, but it's alright on the lower difficulties

What the others said. It would depend on what you consider to be fun. For its age, I thought VI was a fun dungeon crawler, minus the orb grinding. Although that can be negated with cheat engine. It had a nice postgame too IIRC.
I thought SR was also pretty fun, and has some of the most replay value I've seen in a game. It has several routes after the first playthrough, and there are several events that only occur on a first playthrough, or ones that can only occur from a second,third, etc. playthrough.

If you don't mind the most RNG in the series, sure. There's a reason it was bundled with VI.

only way to stop that is to declare war on both uesugi and houjou at the same time, or declare war on takeda.

You won't have any your first run through, although NG+ gives you like 10 to spend if I recall.
On harder difficulties you start with more points (I think that 1 star difficulty gives you double 0 star), so you will end with some.

You will prolly end with 0 points on your first run. Don't worry about it too much.

It's easier to beat on NG+ because you know mostly how everything works. The only way second run will count as NG+ if you get to the end and see the credits.
It's entirely normal to finish your first run over hundred turns in, with zero points in the end. With second game you can bump the difficulty up a level, which makes you start with double the points.

It depends on what your goals are on NG+. As someone who has 100% the game with 27X points, I can tell you that the most difficult run I did was a point run on 5 star.

Delaying the assault on Honnouji Temple since my Rance is weak as fug and I thought I could use those items that provide level ups on other people to make them stronger in army battles. Foot Soldier - Each point of Int increases the amount of 'guard' you get when using a guard command, although the amount differs depending on which command was used. All Guard grants 10% Guard per point, Ally Guard grants 20% Guard per point, and Ally Guard Plus provides 30% Guard per Point.
Tactician - Each INT gives 1 initial buff, and increases buff strength by 5%.
Diviner/Yin Yang - Affects magic damage done.
Monk/Miko - Affects healing.
