There's still at least one thread a day. Everyone played it, everyone beat it, the switch has too many games this year (well, second half of the year) so everyone moved on to the next one.
It's probably the 3rd of 4th best PlatinumGames title, It's very good but its not a masterpiece. Worth playing if you're considering it though. It's got lots of content and once the combat clicks (and it takes a while to click) it becomes very fun.

It's more of a Platinum game than a Yoko Taro game. The story's never goes crazy, and the characters aren't strong enough to be much of a NieR game.

The minigames are actually really lenient this time around though, for most of them I got S+ first time 'round. The only truly miserable one is the second bike section.

I would agree, but I do not understand how you're meant to actually fight Miniboss-tier Flying and Arms enemies.
Former just generally stay out of range for 4/5 Legions and 2/3 weapons to hit, it seems. And fucking astral plane fights where even if you chain-bounce their dash attack, it just sends them into a pit and they come back with no penalty.
Latter just kinda goes into that berserk stage at like 30% where they reee and then fist-pave across the entire room that you just seem to have to sit in Axe shield and then try to bop em between cycles.

The Arms guys are really annoying. The best option I've found it perfect dodge sync attack with arrow. They don't dodge any of it so they end up taking around 1000 damage, which will melt them quickly.

It sucks because it's much easier to perfect call their bullshit, but most of them are pretty ineffective.

Pro controller is a lot hardier. Part of it might just be it's way larger and has more room to be sturdier compared to the flatter joycons that need to latch in and out of stuff and have more motion stuff in them.

you can but you have start again if you missed something that is later in the sub-chapter. it saves after every case and you keep your rank even if you quit mid chapter

Just beat File 11 yesterday and went back to S+ Files 1-3 today.
Here is how retarded I am: It took me until replaying File 3 and S+ ranking it to figure out that to get Order rewards, I had to manually accept the reward. I played through the entire story not having any reward Premium Codes, only the ones I found during gameplay and no alternate costumes or colors, and when I DID figure it out I had to sit and accept the rewards for over 100 completed orders.

It honestly feels like the end of every file has a pretty good climax
But Dark Hero and going full animu beast mode is pretty fun even by comparison

For flying enemies you can always send any of your Legions at them (with ZL) regardless of how far up they are, even the Beast Legion can reach them. From there you can
- Gun from afar
- Activate a relevant Legion Skill while they are up there
- Chain jump to the legion to start an aerial combo with the baton or the gladius; risky but effective
- Use items like grenades
- Any combination of the above

Don't fall in the misconception of only being able to shoot them with the gun or with Arrow

Ive seen some twitter fags change their opinions of Astral from fantastic but flawed to overall fantastic just because they really like the post game where your not limited to the pace of the main game, which is what im seeing people have problems with.

I mean, to each their own, but i was perfectly fine with the pace and slow investigation portions of just casual everyday things.

Blue missions have low quality gameplay, but high immersion value. Some people enjoy immersing themselves into the setting, while others just want to hit things with a stick.
Astral Chain deserves some kind of award for how well they managed to merge gameplay and immersion. All the game mechanics and collectibles have very good excuses for existing in the games setting.

The story is just an excuse to move you around, so that you can see different parts of the world. It is quite similar to Dark Souls and Bloodborne in this aspect. The setting is surprisingly similar to Bloodborne now that i think about it.

I'd definitely argue that AC's gameplay is way more exciting than Nier Automata. I like both games, but I'm pretty sure Automata has the worst and most boring gameplay of any Platinum game.

The only real problem with the combat is the ranking system.

I've never gotten the hype being automata in terms of combat.
Without a ranking system, the best way to play is to set Laser pod on with lifesteal and just facemash the enemy. Switch to run & evade mode if you drop below 50%.

There are a lot of problems with the combat. Lack of hitstun/juggles, bad or inconsistent tells, annoying shielded enemies, certain abilities and skills being massively OP, environmental hazards, and a general lack of focus among them.

Another thing is so far i have beaten all bosses in one go on platinum standard with a few close calls.

The evolved humuculous wasnt as hard as i kept hearing.
But i can admit i actually replayed like the first four chapters after i got most of the legions and went back to all the extra areas, so i have technically grinded a bit and have been using a lvl 6 baton and legion with a lvl 9 arm legion and lvl 4 sword.

I may have over powered myself a bit i can admit, but not to much cause certain things still practically one shot me.

Homunculus gamma is file 07, so he already got through it

The beginning of file 08 consist of time consuming minigames. They aren't bad, but brake the pasing of the game. You'll be happier if you postpone playing them until you have beaten the game.

Arm legion just absolutely wrecks homunculus gamma. Most people aren't focusing on it, so the boss fight is much more difficult for them.
It also seems like you aren't using the arrow legion much. If you can't think of any other uses for it, i'd suggest you turn it into a support legion by giving it speed star and hit rush. Hit rush allows you to use another legion while the other keeps attacking, so you can just call arrow, activate speed star, activate hit rush, then switch to arm or sword and go ham on the enemy.

So now that im on chapter 8 i definitely have issues with the reusing of areas thats starting to present itself.

I dont think this game should have been openworld, but would have certainly benefited from a travel option like persona or something.

Where you can travel to all the areas and regions you go thru as you progress thru the game and find new areas and new missions while going to new locations as you progress thru the normal game.

Speed star is incredible. There is no point in using slow shot, as speed star with a slow attack legion is much better.

If you have the gene codes, you should definitely add speed star to your arsenal. Slow attack chance applies also to the attacks of your character, so speed star combined with a fast attacking legion lets you keep enemies in a near permanent slow state.

What strategies do y'all got for S+ Clean Up King and the buried treasure missions in File 8? I hate them so much.

The important thing for the clean up king one is just keeping the streak going. It's more important than doing it fast. Arrow moves the fastest, so ride beast to the middle of an area, use arrow to clean up, and make sure you leave an exit path to keep your combo going. I think you need 150k. Shouldn't take more than a couple tries.

Buried treasure mission I don't remember being too hard. If you need to, I don't think the spots are randomized, you could probably memorize where the important hidden dig spots are and replay the mission.

Yeah I've tried using Arrow and Beast, but I keep smacking into things with Beast killing my time. What upgrades abilities do you use? I'm using the Red Matter pick up range one.

Red matter pick up range on Beast helps, but I didn't use any particular abilities. Try to keep that combo up.

No. You can unlock the voice of 2B for your IRIS and 9S is your Otacon but that's pretty much it as far as direct references to other Platinum games go.

Drift started effecting me while playing this game myself. Nintendo is offering to fix them for free even if you don't have a warranty on them, though you'll still have to pay for shipping costs. If you don't want to do that, first try updating your joycons and doing a re-calibration. If that doesn't work, do you have any compressed air or electrical contact cleaner lying around? If you do, I suggest trying to use those to clean under the little flaps beneath your joycons and see if that fixes your issue, the latter is actually what fixed drift for me. If those fail, you could try replacing the joysticks too.

Now i'm just angry that the game doesn't let you wear a wonder mask.

1. After a full combo string
2. Hold the attack button
3. Wait a few seconds before performing your next attack
4. Timed dodges
5. Rotate the joystick then press the attack button which performs a spin attack

You can air combo those ones. Send your legion over to it in the air, then chain jump, and now you're floating in the air in front of it and can use melee while being out of melee range of ground enemies. You can repeat this process on the other air units without landing.

It's important to note that perfect call does not work on a just frame like most "perfect" inputs and parries. The window is rather large and you need to activate before you get hit

It's also worth noting that perfect call's i-frames don't last long, especially beast's PC, to the point where certain attacks may still hit you even if you perfect call'd them

My personal theory is that he IS the drone now. Something happened in the past and he had to upload his consciousness to it like what happened to the protagonist's twin after the ending. This explains why the drone still works after communication was disrupted in the last level and you couldn't contact anyone outside the building and why he was just waiting in the astral dimension while the drone was broken instead of just piloting another drone.

Speed Star is a direct upgrade. Power Charge boosts you by 5%, while Speed Star boosts you by 10%. I'm not sure why they bothered implementing Power Charge in the first place.

Why is the rating system so dumb? I swear I keep getting D's in flawless and almost flawless encounters, and S (sometimes S+) when I have my shit pushed in

If you buff Sword Legion with Red Matter pickup range, you can use Speed Star for insane movement speed.

Your rating goes up from finishing fights quickly and using lots of different moves (namely Perfect Calls and Legion Skills). There's also a bonus for not using any items whatsoever and another for using a bunch of them (I think at least five). I think the biggest bonuses are for ending a fight fast and for not getting hit.

Damage matters only when you don't get hit once. You score is based on completion time and variety of actions. S+ typically requires 10k points.

I just used Focus on Arrow Legion and shot them all in slo-mo.

If your encounter is actually flawless, you're practically guaranteed S+.
Otherwise, it's basically on time OR no damage OR variety.
It's really straightforward after a while, but it's too lenient. They should've penalized damage more.

Whoever controls the IRIS just manually put the data in for the suit.

The most interesting S+ is homunculus gamma.
You can only get it with a perfect score or by dealing 3000 damage to it throughout the file and then getting the points for an S.

Have you noticed doing scans on things only gives you data that's cataloged for the most part? Because Lappy's profile is a male, it comes up as male, even if the suiter is most of the time (Outside of the few times the player uses it) female.
