ST Zelda did this to a degree since she is your companion, and she has the best personality since she isn't simply waifubait designed to make you love her. Objectively speaking from a designer's perspective, TP Zelda is much more aesthetically pleasing, the design just flows and nothing feels out of place, it's the reason they kept using this design despite having SS Zelda available for Smash 4, SS Zelda is just not visually interesting.
ALBW Zelda is not ugly, but the design doesn't have as much weight to it, it's amateurish, it almost feels like something Zun would design for Touhou with the formless dress and minimal detail in the gown.

Another issue is that people don't just vote for who they like; they vote against who they don't like. So if one of the brackets has two characters they don't care about, they will likely vote for the one they dislike least, which may be a literal who. This is probablya big part of why Fio is gonna win; no one really dislikes her because most probably don't know anything about her.
She's not even really "cold". She's generally helpful and supportive as best she can be in the limited time we see her, giving her safety up to save Midna, and is quickly willing to aid you in the final battle. None of that says "bitch" to me.

That's not my point. Of course it makes sense, she doesn't know Link, she's never going to know Link, and she doesn't have any reason to care about him as a human being. She's one of the few Zeldas who neither has nor ever develops a relationship with Link. But that's the thing, that emotional distance and stoicness, her coldness, makes her offputting and unattractive to the players inserting into Link. Especially when you have another princess straddling your back and constantly interacting with you.

She's inside BoTW Zelda, it's just that this Zelda had extreme trouble interfacing with it. She even had a vision of Hylia if you read her journal. The issue is that her mother died and her dad, from her birth, taught her to be stoic and bottle up her emotions because of how important it was to focus on her duties as a princess. This got even worse as they became aware Ganon would awake soon, because he pressured her to give up on all her hobbies and interests and focus solely on training, which made her become bitter and bottle up her emotions even more. This bitterness caused her to be hostile to Link and only slowly warm up to him. This is a huge problem, because it turns out Hylia's protective power is fueled by her love, and this Zelda was absolutely not in touch with her emotions. In the end this caused it to take just barely too long for her to really wake up to the love she felt for Link, so she only managed to use her magic when he was lying there dying.
So blame the King, really.

I can get people who want Zelda to be playable, but wanting to turn her into a copy of Link is fucking idiotic. Most Zeldas should be mages or magic archers, some like TP Zelda should be magic swordswomen, but BoTW Zelda? How can retards pass up the idea of playing a tinkerer/gadgeteer mage hybrid? That's even dumber, because Nintendo has been advertising each new game in its relation to the others since the second one. AoL is a direct sequel, ALTTP was sold as a prequel, so was OOT, and so on. There's always been a timeline. Not liking it is fine, but refusing to acknowledge it is another. The whole 'different version of the same legend' is westerner fanfic.

Hyrule Historia also doesn't mention the sky whale in SS, I forget his name. There's also the skeleton of a sky whale (seems to be a toothed whale and not baleen) in the Gerudo Desert in BoTW. I doubt that all four of these are the same character, but rather the same species/sort of spirit.

I think it's funny when people try and fit the CDI games and animated cartoon into the Zelda timeline. Like I can appreciate it if you don't take it seriously, but these people generally stop there and don't try and put in other spinoff media. Nah, they tend to change the plot completely. Most famous is the OOT manga, which futzed around quite a bit and added an entire arc based around bird people that inspired the Rito.
