Okay, if you truly didn't intend to use it politically, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you. But back to the matter at hand, people aren't asking for a "token" female character. It's not some "representation" nonsense. We just want more female characters in Smash because we like women. It's that simple.

Terra's the reason the plot happens. Locke or Celes are the main character given their plots.

I already have all my most wanted, so thinking of characters is like scraping the bottom of a barrel.

Well I actually would want Shantae, and not just because she's hot, but because her games are genuinely good and she has a ton of moveset potential so she'd be perfect in Smash. People like to point at the spirits but we don't have any confirmation that spirits deconfirm characters. I feel like if that were really the case, Sakurai would have come out and said it so people don't get their hopes up.

Shantae games are pretty mediocre. Way better reps out there if you ~must~ have a female in the pack.

Oh, bleh. If that's the best option you can think of you're in no position to be trashing Shantae. The games are very competently crafted Metroidvanias with great sprite work. I think the only reason anyone would call them mediocre is because they have a deep-seated bias against Shantae thanks to all the people who waifu her.
