In an interview Sakurai mentioned that what inspired him to create Smash was him destroying a newbie, he mentioned Zanretsuken combos in a KoF game. The move/type of combos he mentioned belong to Ryo Sakazaki (he appears in the background in the short demo Sakurai showed of some of Terry's moves).

Terry as shown by the Trailer belongs to Fatal Fury and the aforemetioned Ryo belongs to Art of Fighting. Both are set in the same universe over a decade apart. The first time a character from a fighting game crosses over into another is in Fatal Fury Special as a secret boss. This went over well with fans of the series.

Then comes in KoF, the first company wide 3v3 crossover fighting game, it even predates X-men CotA by a couple months. KoF was partially created so that Terry and Ryo could fight each other without having to worry about the difference in their ages.

In short, Sakurai took inspiration from KoF to make Smash. Without Fatal Fury and without Terry it's quite possible there would be no KoF, and with no KoF there's no Smash. So without Terry and Fatal Fury it's possible that there would've been no smash. This is besides the other contributions SNK has made not only for vidya in general.

I'd argue against this. Robert is more the classic shoto. Ryo is a lot more combo oriented and close ranged with kouken and those a Parry. Ryu in SF is more about the controling both vertical and horizontal space and not so much about comboing.

It's not as simple as a model swap and both Corrin and Robin were designed from the start in their own games to be interchangeable.

Almost none of their attacks use their actual body outside I think Up B. For all intentions and purposes the Clown Car is the character. The Robins are literally just a headswap. Even in their fucking game they're just a headswap they have the same bulky clothes for the precise reason that a player can choose between all 6 body types and the game would only have to render a different head and assign a different size to the 3D model. The only skin either Robin show. Look at this they have the exact same body frame. Because both Robin and Corrin in their games are, by DESIGN, meant to be interchangable between genders.

Fighting games are not as simple as a sprite swap either, the circular hitboxes aren't going to magically adjust like in Mortal Combat. Fuck Mortal Combat for having 3D model-tight hitboxes. I hope they don't do that anymore.

Iggy Koopa is very tall and lanky, Morton Koopa Jr is HUGE, Lemmy is teeny tiny, etc. They're all the same size and proportions in Smash, i.e. they were CHANGED for Smash. Meanwhile Male Corrin and Female Corrin are different heights as shown in the other post you linked.

There are multiple characters with unique interactions with other gameplay elements (Pit has a small chance to say unique dialogue during a Star KO, Megaman uniquely creates the light orbs he dies with in his games when he gets KO'd by either blast zone or loss of stamina, Joker has a completely unique interaction with the victory screen if you win by Final Smash to replicate the P5 victory screen).

fighting fags are the closest to most mentally unstable genre players, with only speedrunners beating them

Dragon Warrior III is my favorite RPG. I never really cared about him getting in smash because I didn't think he could have a moveset.

I'm sure there's some fan models better than the Smash one even, but the shittyness of this one makes it too charming.

I hope he doesn't play optimaly by using inputs on an analog stick. I can do 623, 236, 214, 421, 63214, and 41236 on a d-pad and arcade stick, but trying to do those with and analog stick is incredibly inconsistent.

Nintendo could add both Fatal Fury, King of Fighters tracks and that CVS2 song too. The stage that was shown for a moment does have Ryo in so my guess is there could be tracks from many SNK games apart from Fatal Fury like even Metal Slug too. You never know. They gotta add Onions Sauce for Geese and C62 though.

You're right in that they could do other SNK songs as a possibility to come along with Terry as it is very much possible if they allow a large enough amount of tracks, but if they were going to include a song from a capcom made game they could have included it as well with either Ken or Ryu. Why would Terry suddenly be the catalyst for that if characters that were made by the company that made that song were not? If they haven't included it yet hopes for that aren't too high.

As an aside, SNK is collaborating with these companies that have also collaborated with Capcom, but SNK themselves at this point have no desire to be proactive in collaborating with Capcom themselves. This goes doubly since they want to primarily focus on their own IPs and the head producer there has stated that at the time it seemed right because both companies felt what they could do at the time was limited, but now it's not the case. Any collaboration in the near future or a return of something that was a result of their past collaboration seems rather unlikely.
