My favorite out of all the currently translated rance games. Gameplay is shallower than Sengoku but the story and grand scale more than makes up for it to me.

It's like playing the last Rance game in the series if you played 1-4.2. It's really similar to Sengoku and is really fun. If you like Sengoku, you'll like KR.

I played it after finishing 6 but never finished it. I think I conquered the Free Cities and had just taken down Helman's capital, but hadn't finished grabbing the rest of their territory. It kinda felt like I was doing everything wrong, my characters seemed to be dying off left and right from obscure triggers (how was I supposed to know one would just randomly die if I didn't build an extra hospital at the first opportunity, why didn't she just go to the one that was already there?) and the game overall felt much more walkthrough reliant than Sengoku. I'll definitely go back to it later, though. Rough around the edges but the unusual amount of variance each playthrough surely makes it worth my time to do a few campaigns. I understand failing to rescue Sill in time results in a totally different and darker tone to the story with Punished Rance going off the deep end, so maybe I'll try that.

I would play without a guide then use one if you get stuck and cant figure out what to do or how to kill a certain enemy. Following a guide step by step, just like with sengoku, makes the game not worth playing.

If you dont have enough national power for them to join they wont get a cutscene where they join. You have to look in Owari (Odas capital) and use a fan to accept them.

make sure you have some spare national power (4-5 should do) and check and see if there's an event in owari to receive them

Did you check Owari for events? An event there, or a start of turn event are the only two ways I remember reinforcements joining

Their castle is pretty hard even with Natory + Dousan commiting genocide, it should be uncapturable at your stage of the game.

If you can capture one of those Tanuki things early on you can tear through all your neighbors pretty swiftly though

Tokugawa can be rough early on, if you can steal their unique commanders the final rounds not bad, otherwise fighting all of them at once will be an uphill battle

that's terrible advice. you should completely ignore iga and tenshi because they don't give you anything good for beating them but break a gourd when you do it. you should go hara > ashigara and then either tokugawa or mikos.

Just to point out, this next combi involving Natori might make the game too easy so dont look unless you want to.
Natori + Uruza + Kenshin + maybe Yamamoto Isoroku is a combination that can horribly destroy enemy fights because Kenshin's passive reduces all enemy actions by 1. Urza's barrage also reduces all enemy actions by another. They can then be picked off at your own leisure with Natori and Yamamoto's AoEs. If you managed to recruit Omachi from Dokuganryuu later, she also horribly nukes the enemy super hard
