Mario Oddissey

what does Yea Forums thinks about Mario Oddissey?

as a boomer that growed up exclusively with Sony consoles and Nintendo handled since the N64, im having a blast playing this shit.

One of the best switch exclusives

im from SA

It's amazing. It's perfect. It's FUN.

Game of the decade.

It's great but moons have little value and some of the areas can feel kinda generic.

The absolute best they could do for the franchise at the time, especially since they kind of skipped a generation. Would like to see a more concise and deliberate Mario game next time though, a la Sunshine.

I think it's about on par with 64 and better than Sunshine, Galaxy 2 and 3D Land

Trailers spoiled everything before release, I didn’t get as much out of it as I was hoping. When Odyssey 2 gets a trailer I’m shutting it off immediately, not falling for that fucking scheme again.

I started playing it last week and I've been enjoying it a lot. The rope jumping moon can suck my dick though.

>Trailers spoiled everything
Huh? How did they spoil moons? Specially the cryptic ones like the bench one, unless you watched someone else play, the game had too many secrets to unveil.

OP here. I haven't played a single Mario game since Mario 64, and I never finished that overrated shit. After all these years, the Switch was my first Nintendo console since the N64. I couldn't play any GC/Wii/WiiU Mario games. Oddissey it's my first try of the franchise since those times, and holy shit its absolutely fun as fuck. Which other Marios has all this SOUL from previous consoles? As a 29yo boomer I can't finish any other "story" focused genres as RPGs, they feel dull an contrived as fuck. These "pure gameplay experience" games as Mario Oddissey, MHW or Space Rock Galactic are the only games that feel honest about being just fun, and not pretending to be some kind of "mature" experience. Call me a bing wahoo onions fag, or whatever you want, but this feel to me like the redpill of gaming media. Gameplay + music experience > everything else.

Based retarded boomer who can't even spell Odyssey. Why aren't you dead yet grandpa? Mario is for children.

It's very heavily geared towards quick bursts of play and can become a slog if I try to play it for extended periods of time. I'm sure some other people feel differently, but I feel like I almost ruined the game for myself by trying to do as much as possible before leaving kingdoms. Amazing to speedrun, basically the only game I bother doing so with. I think it's unfortunate that the moon count to advance from kingdom to kingdom is so low, because you can end up with a bunch of filler moons and then it feels like you've got to scour for the great stuff. There were so many delightful things to find in the game but some motivation could get lost as you wade through throwaway moons.

Those linear platforming challenges were actually a lot of fun, loved Darker Side and Bowser Kingdom to death, as well as the more compact Lost Kingdom. It's the game that fully convinced me I prefer the linear 3D Mario games. Odyssey destroys 3D World in terms of presentation but the latter's level design is in another league.

Also Sherm sucks.

Didn't look at a single trailer after the second one. I knew they were going to do this. My experience was better for it. I can't believe they spoiled the Deep Woods before release, might be one of my favorite things I've ever discovered in a game.

Odyssey is by far the best one in terms of raw gameplay. No other 3D Mario even comes close.

I really should've gotten 100 jumps before they patched out that glitch.

Uninstall updates if you are really that bad.

Solid title and good starting point for newcomers.

Replayability is nowhere near as good as Mario 64 or Sunshine. The soundtrack is also weak, and the food world was not fun.

No game has ever let me down more in my entire life

my dick is so wet how do I get this shit off

I enjoyed it enough to collect every Moon, but I wouldn't replay it. It ranks below 64 and the Galaxies.

Do not bother with the 2 post game worlds. Collecting every moon in existence was a huge let down.

>harder moons are a letdown
I bet you didn't even play it, post game is better than the first part.

Fantastic. Up there with 64 as the best 3D Mario.

>My experience was better for it. I can't believe they spoiled the Deep Woods before release, might be one of my favorite things I've ever discovered in a game.
Finding Deep Woods during the post-game was fucking shocking lol

Post game just has one fun level then the rest is trash. The first thing you do is a shitty boss rush mode. Clearly you didn't play post game because you would have known at least that much...

one of the best games i have ever played

sure botw is good but no where near close to odyssey

>sure botw is good
BotW had a good bone structure but failed as a game. I'm seriously hoping they listened to the complaints for BotW when making 2. Hopefully they didn't go full echo chamber with nintendo fanboys...

???
Post game has the moon rocks retard, they spawn more and harder moons, way to speak out of your ass.

pretty good
too many collectables but doing tricky jumps with the hat was fun
