How to make DRK less boring:
- Darkside grants skill speed like Blood Weapon used to
- Edge of Shadow and Flood of Shadow only grant 3-4 seconds of Darkside per use
- Living Shadow Cooldown reduced to 60 seconds from 120 seconds
- clone only stays up for ~15 seconds instead of 24
- clone copies your moves as you use them with a few seconds delay
- every time clone uses Edge of Shadow/Flood of Shadow it adds an additional 1.5-2 seconds to Darkside
- Abyssal Drain changed from a 60 second oGCD to a 2000 mp cost weaponskill

To be honest, all of the tanks desperately need abilities like TBN to be more fun. Not just like a shield that pops but just moves that encapsulate the general concept of feeling like you're getting stronger for correctly mitigating damage even if it's only really net neutral dps when used correctly and a loss otherwise.

No. With the average connection you have to delay BW to the point you're borderline clipping your GCD (and you will clip, believe me) and you need like 2.42s GCD to have it proc decently consistently. Hell I have 2.39 and it STILL sometimes doesn't give me that last proc, it's actually insufferable compared to autopilot GNB or PLD.

I sub once every 2 years for a month or two when expansion is on a big sale. So far it worked alright.

If you don't come from wow, what justifies this retarded wow mentality in a game where this is not a thing at all? Opener burst dragging your dps up falls off at some point during the fight at which your dps starts going up and down depending on mechanics going out, burst phases, and general player mistakes.

It's normal and almost entirely unavoidable, for instance, that when baby titan comes out your dps is currently lower than what it will be when you end the fight, because during baby titan phase you'll have your 3rd pot and burst cooldowns. I wouldn't have an orange on titan had my team been ridiculously broken and killed him before baby phase, because at that point my dps was not as high. This is NOT WoW where your dps peaks at absurd levels at the start and spends the rest of the fight slowly falling off, in which case faster = less fall off = higher dps.

You can also use it to save a ton of walking time if you time it right. On Eden Prime Savage you can gap close as it's jumping to one of the corners and fly across the entire arena. On Titan Savage you can gap close right as he hits the ground from his jump and basically prevent the knockback.

I think they're going to temporarily have it available full time. Either the current rotation will completely go away for a bit, or they'll have the current rotation available (and a part of the Frontline Challenge) while also having the new map open all the time.

I'm hoping that if/when the eventually put it into the normal rotation, they can rework some of the achievements. The idea of someone getting 100 wins in Seal Rock when they can only do it ever 3 days is bad enough, but only being able to try once every 4 days is ridiculous. They should just change that achievement (and any others like it) to "Win Frontlines X times" instead of specific maps.

It's not bad per se but it's so overdone I feel nothing towards it. What I like about Soken is that you never know what genre to expect next

He has to want it and to put some effort into it, otherwise it will be frustrating for him, since he will suck ass, and you, for wiping to every stupid ass mechanic.
The gear is barely worth it, a mere +20 ilvl (or +10 if you buy tome gear) with some optimized stats, a shitty mount, Ultimate unlock and dyeable glamour. The only reason you do Savages in this game is to either get gear for Ultimate or for a personal challenge and nothing else.

If you're going to switch then do it before you go any further with your current GC because the achievements only count wins you've gotten with a single GC. If you have 10 wins then switch, you have to get 10 more wins before the counter starts ticking up again.

Each ingredient for the feast takes like 4-5 quests to complete, you can condense that down to 1-2 per instead.

Only reason why you wouldn't be able to is if he put you in a Goal, though I think you can even survive those now.

Based on the current 2 and only Ultimates:
You don't have to be a super pro to clear them, your static and personal skill will only make the clear faster. If you're bad you can still clear Ultimate, but it will take much more time (if you raid 3-4 days for 3 hours every week and you're not very good it can even take 6+ months). 1 death in the final phases of these encounters is a 100% wipe, while you can get some deaths in the earlier phases without wiping at all if you're lucky. Mechanics leave almost no room to errors, but once you figure out they're like Savage raid ones, except maybe a little faster/stricter.
You being bad means that you'll progress slower (more deaths -> back to the beginning) and when you're ready to kill it you'll have to luck out the run where everybody does everything correctly (which is low if your team is bad at the game).
I've seen literal apes clearing both UWU and UCoB so anyone with enough willpower and time can clear them.

PvP will probably be just as crowded, if not more so, after 5.1, because instead of being chock full of mount bandwagoners you've now got glamour bandwagoners that are just there to afk for ez wolf marks. You can keep trying for now though. On one hand you'll get decent queue times, on the other hand almost all of them will be cancer-inducing 72-man matches until after midnight or so. You may very well have to be the guy to step up and make calls in the chat if you notice your GC is hurting for coordination.

Tbh it's a real toss-up between Adders and Maelstrom depending on what DC you're on. Half of my wins came from turning freelancer off and playing with the Adders. And that's partly because turning freelancer on kept landing me in the Immortal Faggots. You should have a decent chance as long as you're not a Flame.

Also, I think Maelstrom has longer queue times. You're almost never going to be able to freelance with them anyway.

Another thing to take in account, DPS checks can be quite deadly, some phases require almost perfect play from everyone to met the requirement (Golden Bahamut is incredibly strict for example, and Ifrit/Ultima don't fuck around either). So first learn how to properly play your class, specially if you're a DPS.
For tank and healing, absolute perfection on cooldown usage can be required.

Also, your static has to be on the same mindset: wanting to clear the fight at all the costs. If even one person isn't serious about this, you wont clear or progress incredibly slow.
I'd say the real challenge is avoiding your static from falling apart.

Last, the fights last more than 15 minutes, so be ready. 15 minutes of good playing and very good playing in the last phases. Even though the last fight in Savage was 13.5 minutes so it shouldn't be a problem, and after a while you'll do the first phases easy without putting any effort because it's all muscle memory.

If you're a freelancer then all wins count as wins towards your current GC, regardless of which team you get put on. It's only when you actually switch GCs that you have to start over. If you are Mael and get put on Adders and win, your Adders wins achievement won't increase, but your Mael one will.

The achievement counter doesn't reset to 0 when you switch, it's only tracking the most number of wins you have with a single GC. If you have 29 wins on Mael and 10 wins on Adders, the achievement counter will display 29. If you keep getting wins on Adders, the achievement counter will still stay at 29, until you surpass 29 wins.

This only goes for achievements which start with "Guide any of the 3 grand companies". The Front and Center achievement line just tracks total wins.

My company is going to naturally match my housing area for convenience and Goblet is the best, especially for gardening.

I mean the achievements for the logistics system mount, aerodynamics system mount, and the seal rock glamour items. The garo mount achievements just track total wins so you don't have to worry about starting over if you swtich.

Basically, from what I understand, Crit adds to base damage as well as having a multiplier based on crit rate. Det is a straight damage increase based on an arbitrary amount per point, and Direct Hit doesn't actually add to damage but only acts as a multiplier to damage on hit.

I could be wrong though. I don't know enough about how DH and Crit interact to determine if Crit+DH is truly superior to Crit+Det, but surely a straight increase to damage no matter what is better than a string of poor rolls in rng, thus making Crit+Det more preferable?

DH are essentially Minicrits, Crits can get Direct hits too. DH is similar to Crit where it increases your chances of getting a Direct Hit.

Direct Hits happen more then Crits on average

I have 5 wins on Flames and 70 wins on Adders. My Front and Center achievement (i.e. total victories) says I have 75 wins, but my Behind Enemy Lines achievement (i.e. guide any GC to 100 victories) says I only have 70.

Wouldn't it be better to stack Det in that case? If you have higher base damage, even if your DH rate is less optimal, the DH's that do hit will be even higher?

The crit stat increases both the chance of getting a crit and the damage dealt by crits. The base chance to get a crit is 5% and the base damage increase of a crit is 40%.

The DH stat increases the chance to get a direct hit, but the damage bonus of a direct hit is always fixed at 25%. The base chance of a DH is 0% however the DH stat scales far more quickly than crit.

A single attack can be both a crit and a DH if both checks are successful, and the damage bonus is multiplicative which means a direct crit is usually around double the damage of a base attack.

Because you do hundreds of attacks in a fight, "bad RNG" typically evens out in the end and the random variance doesn't have a large impact on your DPS, unless you are a job that relies on singular huge attacks for a large portion of their damage, like Samurai.
