Ranger and Mage are really fun to play. Bows, Crossbow and Boomerang, though Boomerang was sub par before, hopefully it's better now.

Mages seem vastly improved on their fun factor though, since before they didn't have a lot of abilities, but both sub classes ultimates look great. Just got to play more carefully since we don't have mana shield anymore.

It looks so fucking comfy, I didn't get the comfy meme before but I understand now.

So what's the deal with the world? I heard some other user talking about how everyone shares the same giant world instead of how it works in Minecraft.

He really didn't show off the more heavy features. The entire quest system is pretty expansive and the game has a story now, revolving around 5 factions that are good, but have their own goals that will sometimes have you fighting them and a mysterious 6th faction that is completely evil that everyone hates.

It's pretty much looking like the same kind of stuff I liked about BotW, so that will be nice for fans of that game.

Yes, they decided to not have a random seed generation anymore. Everyone has the same world for seemless multiplayer. You join a friend and then you can fly directly to their location for free and once you are done, you can teleport back to your old place you were. Spawn locations on character creation are completely random, so you could be at x20003, y 10010, while another person could be -x294, y 122. It should ensure that people don't see the same features as if there were different world seeds anyway.

Misleading. Take Starbound for example, technically it's the same world for everyone, but there's a metric fuckton of generated planets you can travel to, their coordinates serving as seeds.

It's singleplayer until you manually connect to someone. Everyone is just on the same seed of world generation.

The world is still infinite and everyone spawns in a random location, so you probably won't see the same sights as other people until you join their game. Just make a new character if you want a new "world"

Not really, you aren't forced into multiplayer. You simply can easily join your friends through steam integration. They didn't want you to have to back out into a menu to type in a server address and then teleport to some other world. If your friend says that he explored X30, Y50 and found something interesting there, you could travel to that area in your own game and see it. You wouldn't need to make a new world with his seed.

If he was able to break the areas into their own file chunks, yeah. That would work. He already has a clear outline of where the boundary of an area is. Though I wonder about the quests that go between areas now. Since things aren't limited to wherever you are. A quest to retrieve some pendant could take you from the forest to the desert next door. So I wonder how the quest brick system will keep track of that. Will deleting a poorly generated chunk reset the quest in that area? Or will the quest file be it's own thing?

I had way more fun with Cube World alone then I did playing with people. Even though the game was obviously meant for a group, it just turned into a chaotic mess because there was no real way to play a class in a role. Hopefully with all the changes that should be better, but if we can really just hire NPCs to come along with, then even less reason to play with people.

The alpha could hold 50+ people, but since multiplayer is through steam now unless someone figures out how to mod it 1.0 is probably just going to be up to 4 people.

If you have the beta, you can break past the title screen with cheat engine to walk around and explore, but most of the world isn't implemented yet. Paste this into a new text file and save it with the extension .ct, then use it in cheat engine.

Even with the world incomplete, it's still got some impressive shit. I'm loving the cave generation and small villages look much better then the previous towns in alpha. New dungeon designs are also great. That tower and there are so many different types now. I hope Mines hold lots of resources.

Map & World:

Each land now has a power level which determines the average power of creatures and dungeons. That way, players can choose difficulty by themselves.

The size of lands has been decreased. The average size is now 20x20 tiles (was 64x64). This enables players to explore new lands more quickly and also results in closer cities.

Dungeon missions aren't generated daily anymore and aren't adapted to the player level. Instead, players can see on the map if a dungeon has been cleared or not (indicated by a skull icon). A dungeon is cleared by defeating the boss and will remain empty for a couple of days.

I'm working on underworld caverns: The idea is to have a network of caverns below the overworld with secret entrances at the surface. The underworld will be inhabited by various monsters of varying power and will add another exploration factor to the game. Currently I'm experimenting with nice-looking entrances (it's tricky to get them right).

We're currently adding new landscapes (deadlands and savannahs) as well as new dungeons, villages and creatures

That's not what that means. It is about how MMO have quests hubs generally and the way the flags are set up that you have to have the quest for things like kills to count. Wollay just set it that you could get the quest a number of ways, such as by finding the end part, killing the required thing, picking up the thing you were suppose to retrieve. It means less running into town simply to look for quests that will send you to an area and more exploring and a quest generating out of it.

Really I get a little irked anytime someone goes 'LOOK AT MY QUEATS THEY'RE UNIQUE' and they never are, like here. I mean hats off for trying but it still looks like generic rpgmmo quests so far. Once again, you aren't reading it right. MMO have one way for you to obtain that specific quest. Let's say for example in WoW. There is a quest in Duskwood to kill some Worgen. You have to pick that quest up before killing those Worgen.

Cube world, he wanted to prevent that. The quest is tied to both the NPC that gives it, but also to the mob itself. So it doesn't matter if you talk to the NPC first at all. You can just kill the mobs with the Exclamation mark on them and that will give you the same quest you would have gotten talking to the NPC. Yes, this is still 'mmo' style quests, but it cuts out a big problem for people that were exploring ahead of the path the game wanted them to. It's not about being 'unique', because given how long people have been making game systems, nothing is unique at the moment. It's about how he wanted to fix a problem that he felt the system had, where it discouraged exploration and doing your own thing, to instead follow a simple pattern.

First of all, I know that people have been waiting for this game and meming about it for centuries but that's all I know about this shit, I'm not gonna pretend for even a minute that I'm a long term fan who has been waiting eagerly for this but now that it is coming out, I decided to watch the trailer and it does look fucking good, I must admit it genuinely does. Looks like Terraria in 3D and yes I am well aware thats supposedly what Minecraft is but I've never cared for minecraft, never played minecraft and never want to if I'm honest.

Anyway heres some questions I hope some people can answer.
First, can I play this single player? I already know it's multiplayer and what not but can I treat it like Terraria basically and just play it by myself? I've got mates who I speak to every day but I just like playing games myself, everyone playing multiplayer games like to rush and I personally like to move at a snails pace to thoroughly enjoy everything the game has to offer.
Second and probably the next most important thing t b h, is the world generation random? The places in the trailer all had names so I can't be sure but I hope that there's some fucking element of randomness to the world generation otherwise it will kill the games replayability for me.

Used to be, but now it looks sort of like it's like Starbound, where it's technically random but the coordinates are the "seed", so going to a specific coordinate means it's the same place no matter who's playing. Your spawn location is random, though, so it may as well be making a new world.

If classes have so few abilities, there's literally no reason for there to be such a limited amount of them. Variety is important. You can't expect somebody to click one button and see the same animation for hours upon hours and still expect them to have fun.

Unfortunately they kind of need to be able to heal properly and that does mean that they will be really hard to kill. Bubble is going to be an amazing skill, though it means you'll need to get into the fray. But without Mana Shield, they should be more squish.

I think Fire Mage damage will also go up much more, especially when fighting large groups. Water mage is what you'll want to do when fighting a single enemy, because you can easily lock it down and keep yourself alive, while Fire Mage wants to just Ult from afar, R2 if they got stunned, R1 until they proc. Fire explosion when they get close and then finish off with a full power R2.

WoS and the first ~3 staves aren't viable against EoC (this is all assuming you're playing on expert and not cheesing)
Magic missile, flamelash, and flower of fire aren't viable against WoF
Ice rod, frost flower, nimbus rod (unless using it solely as a secondary weapon, not a primary weapon, and with the destroyer being an exception), poison staff, frost staff, crystal vile shard (except against the destroyer), and arguably some of the other mage weapons at this tier are absolute shit against the mech bosses
You'd think the venom staff (crafted from chlorophyte, among other items) would be viable against Plantera, but it just doesn't have solid DPS compared to other mage weapons - ironically, the significantly lower tier crystal storm book, which can be obtained without even beating a mech boss, does drastically more damage against Plantera
I could go on and on. Source: I autistically tested all of these things myself, made videos while doing so, compared how many minutes & seconds it took to defeat each boss, etc.

Neither am I, which makes it all the more baffling that naysayers keep claiming CW will be limited to a hard cap of 4 players no matter what. In fairness, the official description of the alpha claims that you can play with up to 4 players, but in reality alpha servers can handle over 100 people (so long as the hardware behind it is good enough), so there's no reason to believe that the new and improved CW will be any different, especially since this is the sort of major drawback that should be addressed by the devs upfront, which they've shown a willingness to do

I has it's own menu in game that they haven't shown off yet, but Pixxie has said that multiplayer would be done through steam.

All I have found is that Steam uses a Lobby system for it's backend of connecting users even by P2P, but does support matchmaking servers as well. Each Lobby can hold 250 users, but games can set a max limit on connections that they want to do and Valve lists a typical game as being 2-16 players. So support for more is certainly there in Steam, it just matters on what Wollay has set the max connection to and that means we can have more if he wants to set it higher. That is, if he's even set it to 4 at all.

Mage is probably still the best, even with them losing Mana Shield for defense. I love though that all armor has their own look now. The slight color difference look before was just terrible. Now things actually look like cloth, or plate.

Wollay is a perfectionist and it's not his full time work. He's done a full engine rewrite to make it 64bit and added an entire grammar system for his quest bricks so the game will procedural generate text where it needs to and not sound awkward. Kind of, it's voxel based, but the world doesn't use them for building or anything, just for ease of painting shapes. The point of the game is to adventure, deal with the five factions and take on whatever threats you find and to do whatever else you feel like. I'm going to try to collect all the pets.

Back in the alpha dwarfs and goblins could go through 1x1 spaces such as windows in houses because they were smaller than other races.

Dwarves and Goblins had a smaller hitbox in alpha, it allowed them to squeeze into spaces others normally couldn't. I doubt it will come up much in release though.

It's single and co-op drop in and out multiplayer. Everyone plays on the same world, but dropped in a random spot. You can join up with others and you automatically sync worlds to play in the same space. Kind of like how Monster Hunter World does it. We don't know how many can play together just yet, but Alpha you could play with 100 on the same server.

You just need to find the right people. I'm sure there will be a number of lobbies for the game once it comes out. Let me guess though, they were more interested in goofing off?

There is, but we just don't know much about the details on it yet. The five factions aren't really on good terms with everyone else, but they are trying to do what they think is right. There is suppose to be a mysterious 6th faction that wants to kill everyone else, which is funny since the Cult of Doom are trying to complete a ritual that will summon hordes of demons to destroy the world or something. So I don't know how they are suppose to be 'good'.

Do quest involving the factions, called Grand Quests, to uncover the story and save the world.

Minecraft has pretty good biome mods though...

Some of them can be good, but I didn't really like the majority of the ones in like Biome's a plenty. Ones that were pretty cool looking is things like the Bayou, Mangrove, Mystical Forest, Hearthland. But then you have fucking Lavender fields, Wastelands, three different versions of forests and the Crag.

Really the worst thing about them was how badly they all clashed with other mods and spawning of various animals. Even if I tried to limit the number, I ended up having to go so far away from spawn for even vanilla biomes. It's just a mess. It isn't a matter of just adding biomes, they need to completely redo how minecraft handles them and figure out how to make the transitions between them look better, because right now it's total mess.

A shame the biome mods largely conflict with most of the mods that add dungeons and such. Especially cave biome mods

This game looks good, but I get the feeling that's only because the creator intentionally leaves everything in the dark to let my imagination run wild. I like exploring but if I find out there's nothing to do I'm gonna be pissed.

The focus is completely different
Minecraft: string on exploration, primarily on mining/building, minor on combat (no matter what people would try to have you believe nowadays)
Terraria: some exploration (mainly downwards instead of horizontal), a lot of mining but little building (unless you want more than just utilitarian), maximum combat - the vast majority of items are relating to combat and movement.
Cube World: largely on exploration but primarily on combat. Terrain destruction is an extra.

Voxels do not mean Minecraft, people should have it through their fukken heads by now it's been 8 years for crying out loud and it wasn't even the first game to use them

Even if it was, it wouldn't be an engine thing, just how they decided to set up their lobbies for steam and that is easily changed. Steam can handle 250 in a single lobby, it just matters on the connection between people and how well the game handles information. Now they could have decided to limit the connections because once you get many people in the same game and trying to play away from each other, it starts to strain the engine, but I doubt it if Alpha could handle tens of people without really giving a fuck.

This is one of my only fears as well. I really hope modders come up with a good API ASAP so I can commission some of them to make mods that really bring the game to life.

God, if it supports even 20 people, I want people to join up, spawn in and then see how fast it takes people to get to someone else without using a flight master. The coordinates that Wollay had for the trailer are in the hundred thousands range for x and 6 million for Y. Honestly I just can't imagine trying to get to 0,0. It must take literal days of playing.

Oh, I didn't catch it before, but he seems to have changed how the dungeon mapping works, instead of showing the actual thing of the dungeon like he previewed before, it's more like it shows a white outline of the rooms on the regular map. I wonder why he decided to change that.

Another thing I just now noticed. When Pixxie uses Retreat, she goes into Stealth. I wonder if that gives the effect of the stealth from Aim.

Something I really like is that after taking the flight master, you jump off the eagle and glide down.
I also wonder if there'll be the hard diminishing returns on speed increases again. I really hope not.

How big do the towns get in this

I think that would kind of feel bad, since all those stat increases come from Artifacts and are how we level up. So if it took 20 artifacts to increase flight speed from 200% to 201%, that would be pretty shit.

They use to be fairly decent in Alpha, but he's changed them so they vary. You'll have little villages with very little infrastructure, towns, which have farms and roads, cities, which have even more stuff and then capital cities, which could fit three cities.

I really dislike the artstyle, for one. I get that it's supposed to be a Minecraft-inspired RPG, but the colors seems so bright and nothing has any texture. The world is made of just flat colors.

The combat doesn't look particularly engaging, either, and throughout the trailer I got the sense that the developer didn't really know what to show off about the game. Ultimately I was left wondering why I should buy this game.

I agree with the first part desu. I intend to commission a modder to make a mod that allows the creation of texture packs if that isn't already possible right out of the box.

What makes you think that's not the case? Every time someone has asked about multiplayer and how multiplayer will work in the Steam forums they have always answered saying that multiplayer is now Steam integrated and you play by inviting your Steam friends. They have also said that this is limited to 4 players. If there's actually another option to play multiplayer normally by just hosting a server and having as many people connect as you want then how come they haven't mentioned it even once? What's the point in keeping that secret?

So, odd thing I noticed. At one point of the trailer, it has Wollay and Pixxie in the ocean and chat says that they recieved boats. Then, two scenes later, they are on a lake and it says that Pixxie recieved a boat. So I think this does confirm that we will have to refind boats and gliders every we enter a new area.

Not really happy with this, I was hoping that it would just give us a stat drop or something until we got a certain item. Like fabric for a sail or something. This is going to make riding pets something we need more of, but I'm not happy. I guess we just get given a Glider for free when jumping off the Eagle, so at least that's fine.

I'm thinking that since you'll probably stay in each area for a good chunk of time conquering every quest, gathering the glider and boat won't be too tedious. I never used riding since it always seemed inferior to gliding, so I am glad that it will be a little more mandatory.

Wollay's 16 min Mage gameplay had him at positive 5 milllion x 2 million y. While the release trailer had him in -400k X and -6 million y So you can have some pretty big variance.

I really didn't like how fast the flight master was. You literally go too fast for the world loading to keep up and are just flying through a blue fog.

I'm sure it's that fast because if you were flying far enough it would take way too long to actually get there. Imagine flying between 1 million blocks and it taking 30 minutes to actually arrive. The world loading is also probably intentional to help with lower end systems.

Trion Worlds decided to Pay 2 Win the fuck out of it, made everything outside of that a huge grind. All premium classes are ultra powerful to the point that you would be a fool to play any of the free classes even for a lark. Building sucks shit in it and the game revolves completely around daily dragon grinds. It's just bad.

Word is that NOTHING is actually done and all of what they showed off in the trailer was done in movie maker with finished models using their modeling software. So I'm not putting that in any kind of release window. Also it's made by fucking Hypixel and they got their funding from Tencent. I'm not really banking on that being any better then Trove at this point since those idiots tried make money via server perks and had to be stopped by Mojang.
