How can they actually top koikatsu? they could basically make "Artificial Academy 3" with all of Koikatsu's assets ported over but even then the "academy" just like it did with 2 would get old eventually as you notice the game is more lazily programmed than you think and i can't really imagine how Koikatsu's anime creation could be made any better especially with mods making it as good as it already is.
Where do we go from here, where CAN we go from here.

They could go the AA route by adding NPC males inside the school and actually allowing relationships between NPCs.
Or they go a complete different way and make something smaller with more depth. But for now they will probably shit out 2-3 garbage titles which have next to no content before actually doing something on the scale of Koikatsu again.
