Not everyone is a tourneyfag and as long as you're not a tourneyfag picking low tiers isn't that uncommon. Bridget used to be an appealing character for me and some other players (yes, we existed back on Dustloop forums back in the days or ask around in the +R server) because his design and moveset are as Guilty Gear-wacky as can be. He's a nun who uses yoyos and a killer bear. His bnbs aren't that hard to do and his movement is one of the most versatile because of the omnidirectional yoyo. Me personally, I only tried him out at first when I saw an old video of a Japanese Bridget player seemingly staying in midair for a ridiculous amount of time and wrecking a Sol in maximum style. The character offers the most disrespectful hit-and-run play in the game because it's a literal meme faggot clobbering you with teddy bears. Playing low tier characters is a common thing I see in every fighting game, not just in GG. I've ran across a shitton of Sean players in 3S, Gigas in Tekken 7, Little Macs in SSBU, Ralf in 14 and so on.
